This makes sense, although I'm surprised that they want to re-locate so early, they probably could have put it off by one month.. At the moment there is unrestricted travel from NZ to NSW, but if you return, you have to quarantine for 14 days, so that makes things difficult for an NZ football team. Here's hoping both Australia and NZ stay pretty clear from hereon in, and the travel bubble eventuates early in the season. It's not just NZ either, some other states still have internal travel restrictions, so there is still a fair bit to work out over the next 2 or 3 months.

I think this is a great opportunity to give some regional areas a taste of a-league football, Canberra, Wollongong or Tamworth would all be great options. Playing at Marconi Stadium would also be great, such a good football stadium. https://www.smh.com.au/sport/soccer/there-is-no-option-wellington-phoenix-to-move-to-nsw-for-a-league-season-20201027-p568yb.html

Wouldn't be surprised if the Victorian teams have to for at least the first few rounds as well, we'll just have to see how it goes.

I can see them scheduling all Melbourne clubs to have interstate away games in the first two rounds. That would give them a bit of a buffer in the event crowds aren't allowed in Melbourne stadiums by then.

Everything will be open for Christmas except the WA border. Surely by the time the season starts, there will be a travel bubble with NZ without quarantine.

A lot of talk today that the WA border could be open sooner than you think. Public sentiment is shifting so its likely the government will soon soften its stance.

Apparently supposed to be shut until April (election time). Can't see why it can't open now.

Base it in Dubbo, so it sounds like a local team

Anastacia, MacGowan and nimrod Andrews would shit incase he targets any of them for a stint in the sin bin - county jail.

Someone calling in Putin as an example of how we should do things here. Nice work.

YES!!!!!!!!!!! Ideally scheduling away games for the start and hoping a NZ return for all home games would be the plan. However if this aint possible for the short term some very intelligent fixturing could and should be applied. Considering they are going to be based in NSW, ideally the bulk of games they should try to avoid the other teams. Canberra and Wollongong would nicely host 2-3 games each if possible, present some cheap tickets or deals. And lets see the interest in the league, whether these regions are truly deserving of a team. Secondly however, matches against NSW teams, should be placed strategically to benefit from the NSW clubs fans, in more neglected areas. An example could be if the Nix host the Wanderers, instead of in Wollongong/Canberra or just playing at Bankwest, the match could be played in Penrith. Exposing the league and WSW to more of there catchment in an attempt to re spark some interest, without adding what is essential another regular WSW home game. The same could work with SFC, playing on the Northern Beaches at Brookvale Oval or in Cronulla (if Shark Park has had renos completed). Belmore stadium could be the alternative option for the Macarthur match, not sure whether this counts as Macarthur catchment but again, exposes the game more broadly throughout Sydney, without sacrificing any home fixtures. Coffs Harbour or Port Macquarie could be used for a Newcastle match, and whilst its outside of NSW, a Brisbane home fixture could be played on the sunshine coast or the gold coast. This is a perfect chance to showcase the a league to some new regions or neglected areas of current regions.
