Nice. Should have been the case from the very beginning. Still, better late than never 🙂

So Premiers = direct entry to Group Stage Would appear that the GF winner gets the next spot which will be a play-off and then the FFA Cup winner the other play-off spot.

Currently the grand final winner counts as our "Cup winner" for the sake of ACL qualification. These changes make it sound like maybe it'll be League winner (top of the table) gets the automatic ACL spot. FFA cup winner gets a playoff spot. 2nd on the ladder gets the other playoff spot...

But I also hope they don’t do groups as well. Not that’s an issue providing they don’t rig that too.

That fits in with what the AFC ACL manual says. They only allow one spot for a Cup winner and if there are two cup competitions then FA has to advise the AFC and the clubs which Cup competition gets the spot.

As it should be. The grand final will be consigned to history.

It could be this scenario, or it could equally possibly be the full spot for the premier, and a qualifying spot each for the champion and cup winner. As far as I can see, this "official" recognition of the league finals winner as being a cup winner by the AFC is pure community speculation. Having both the league finals winner and the cup winner both getting a spot should put that speculation to bed, should it eventuate. We'll see what happens.

Peak f’kin A League. while the ACL was found due to the merge of Asian Club Championship (for league champions) and Asian Cup Winners Cup (for Cup winner),that's why they gave a spot for Domestic cup (runs by the domestic FA) winner.. meanwhile "League Cup", runs by the League, like the J.League Cup doesn't have slots to ACL. if they consider the Grand Final as "League Cup", it will not get entrance to ACL

+xThe winner of a Micky mouse cup competition with a rigged draw gets entry to Asia’s top club competition. Peak f’kin A League. They also announced this is changing from next year. Reading is hard. From the round of 32 - the point where A-League clubs enter the competition - there will be an open draw for the first time, though clubs will be divided into four geographic zones.

Urgh. Not sure about this.
