Good to see them believing in him from the get go I’m not sure where you’re getting your info from but according to google and transfermarkt, he’s been playing as a wing back. interesting, ive been looking at livescore so maybe their formation is wrong, right wing back is perfect for him He was down as a CDM on FotMob as well. That is strange. There is no doubt they played with a back three, just where the midfielders/wing backs played. Having done some digging, Millar is the only natural RWB while Tanser would’ve played on the left which leaves Power, Ronan and 16 year old Reid, all of whom are natural midfielders. According to SofaScore, St Mirren played as 3-1-4-2, with Reid as the 1 and Millar on the right of the 4.

Irvine playing on right of a diamond midfield. He's a big of middle man linking up his team mates. They've just scored from a corner.
That's a decent near post run by Irvine which has somehow sucked in 3 opponents enabling the ball to go to his team mate who beat his own defender too.
