No Hrustic. Seems Frankfurt have a top fit squad so he's either got a small injury or being nudged out.

McGree and Dougall starting. Elder bench. Bit of rotation at Hull and this 11 won last time.

Yokohama 1-1 Kawasaki. J1 has wrapped up, Muscat did pretty well. Finished second, most goals scored. Kalik assist
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

+xChristian volpato made his debut in serie a as a 90th minute sub against inter Milan. Kicker app says he was at the Wanderers as recent as Jan 2020. How on earth can talent and skill like that either be invisible or developed so quickly? I don't know enough about this to comment but going from WSW off the radar to playing for Roma is massive. One could argue it's a bit like Timotheu.

Valpato was on for only 3 mins & in that short period, the few things that he did out there (against frign Inter!!!), shows that he's more than capable of facing Vietnam in a WCQ!!! Arnie grow some balls and give him a crack!!! He's playing more minutes than Mabil & Hrustic at the moment!!!

My gut tells me Volpato would turn down an Australian call up. His focus is probably to establish himself in the serie A rather than risk doing his ACL for a bumbling national team coached by an outback hick. Sadly if he’s good enough think we will probably lose him to Italy.

Italy go to world cups and actually compete, he won’t have to travel more than 3 hours on a plane for an international break. The country is football mad.
Let him decide whatever he likes.

I don’t know how good Volpato is but having seen Timotheou play semi-regularly for us for a season, I genuinely have no idea how he managed to get a game for Schalke.

Let him decide whatever he likes. I rarely support Aussie raised kids seeking a cap elsewhere but given he couldn’t get a top flight fame here, who could blame him. There’s no rush either, he could wait and see what happens in Italy for a few years before accepting any Australian call up.

+x+x+x+xCristian Volpato scored a penalty and had a nice assist against Juventus in 2-2 draw. Goal and assist are on his Instagram story. Pinpoint ball for the assist. MOM as well. The kid is some player. He's made the bench for Roma's first team already, so Jose obviously see's something in him. Definitely don't want to lose this one!!! Too early for him to make the squad against Vietnam & Oman? At this point, I’d call him up and start him at 10. I mean really, why not? We’re looking very ordinary against ordinary sides. Arnie won’t tho, fully expect the exact same players to make next cut. You’d call up volpato and you would also start him at 10. Seriously? mate please, let’s keep it in our pants for five minutes. I’m as big of an advocate for promoting youngsters as much as anyone but we need to take it easy here. Tristan Hammond is scoring goals for fun for the Austrian Vienna reserves, he’s been in Europe for years now with sporting Lisbon and now AV. Volpato is very good on the socials and everything else so he’s always in peoples minds. He has stated he wants to play for Italy. Let’s see how he goes. I remember a certain Alex Robertson never committing to anyone and now he doesn’t get off the bench for the worst team in Scotland. But every time he tied his shoe lace TWG would come out with an article saying ‘Robertson ties his shoelace and he’s eligible for Peru, Australia, Scotland and England’. Aged well. Perhaps Vietnam are superior to Inter Milan? Maybe your talent identification is superior to Mourinho?

Let's be real - when he got cut by the Wanderers he would've only just turned 16 & you only get an A League contract at that age of you're considered exceptional. He may not have shown enough as a 15 yr old to warrant a senior contract. Since then he's obviously developed at a crazy rate skill wise, but also physically (he's 6'2), fast & solidly built. I would be extremely disappointed if he doesn't play for us and I would be extremely pissed off with FA if we didn't do everything possible from this point to get him in a Gold jersey. Just read a Sydney Morning Herald article saying that FA have been in constant contact with him & that it has been positive communication & that he wants to represent Australia. So fingers crossed

But yea, this case seems to be an exceptional case
