Ball gets cleared from corner and bobbles and he runs and slots it from the penalty spot. Slight nick on defender but fairly direct. What a moment.

Plenty of good news on previous pages. Elder returns. JRB back. Sainsbury double and Atkinson goal. Luongo a stand out again by most reports.

Volpato given a free roam. Lingers in the 10 but is out wide for counters. Has very good balance and swift passing. Glides while dribbling.

Geez should have a second after being at the far post and just missing the ball as it carried through from a dipping cross. Jumped out of my chair.

Game closing out and still no Hrustic. Jakic with 5th yellow so chance for next game.

+x+x@johnszasz Apologies I can’t remember, but can you read German? I’d love to be able to find out what’s going on with Kuol. There must be something going on, as why would Sandhausen loan a player they have no intention of featuring in their match day squads. And conversely, why would Stuttgart loan their asset to a club that has no intention of playing him, when it’s in their interest to send him somewhere that’s going give him game time? I reckon there must be a niggling injury or something. Yeah sure I'll do some digging. So it turns out the official Sandhausen twitter has been posting the coach's quotes about him. The coach said he's enjoyable to watch and can add spark and hassle up top. The coach went on to say it's not been so easy for him as yet and maybe he needs a bit more time but he's going in the right direction. They posted a photo of him at training 3 days ago. Sandhausen also signed quite a few attackers in the window including two winger on deadline day with him and all the current group are firing well at the moment digging them out of the relegation zone. I can imagine too Kuol is in the ad hoc second 11 in training activities and when they do 11 vs 11 it normally ends up that Kuol will be in his position but have a reserve centre back playing wing to make up the numbers. I see it at Hannover training a lot where the traffic cone reserve players are used for the first 11 to hone their formations. When the player is in that hole it can be pretty hard to get out of it. There are around 8-10 attackers ahead of him currently. All the while the two 20m plus strikers at Stuttgart have returned bumping the 3 or so middle men from the bench to the reserve side. In hindsight a loan to a 3rd tier club with starting potential would've been best. Thanks heaps!

Good thing we didn’t have a young SerieA goalscorer in the mix against Oman. Those Omani players must be of some high quality….

Next season we could have several players in Europe's top 5 leagues. Volpato at Roma and Karacic at Brescia in Serie A, Genreau at Toulouse in Ligue 1, Irvine and Metcalfe at St Pauli in Bundesliga and perhaps McGree at Boro in EPL (although loss to a team well below them this morning had dropped them outside the 6. It would sting if they made the 6 but we're knocked out by Dykes' QPR). If all that happened, the question then would be whether they would be starters or squaddies.

Forgot about Matt Ryan at Real Sociedad in la Liga but so far it looks unlikely he will take over as first choice.

The Heart's fans sound like a pack of bed wetters. Looking through their fan forum comments, they're painting Atkinson as their worst ever signing. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but a wingback with a back 3 these days is predominantly an attacking player, that gets back to help out in defence? It sounds like they're blaming him for both goals. Both Atkinson & Devlin getting scathing reviews, after losing to 2nd bottom team. Fickle fans - Devlin was one of their better players last game & they were calling for him, when he was on the bench, to be in the starting team.

Any ideas as to how you would play Rogic, Mcgree, Volpato and Hrustic in the same team? They all play attacking midfield right? Rogic imo is a must starter, maybe Mcgree off the bench and Volpato and Hrustic on the wings? I like Boyle but his form will inevitably go to shit now that he sold his soul to the oil leagues.

Funny how so many of us want to put Leckie as a wing back. I agree he has more potential at International level as a wing back than an attacking/forward winger but Arnold just keeps putting him up front to almost no effect 🙁 Volpato moves and dribbles the ball like an eel on wet grass- would make an excellent winger instead of Leckie

Do you mean elder? McGree did well at LWB for Birmingham by all accounts. LB would be a punt but the thing I like about McGree over Elder is that he might be a bit quicker and more agile - a big positive against the likes of the Japanese wide players, imo. Another option would be to give Brad Smith another go. Last time I saw him for the NT his ball control was shocking but in the years since then he has good reviews in his time at Seattle. But generally LB is a problem position for us atm.
