+xLounge is nearly 30 and in league 1. I'd honestly rather see olyroo age players like Stensness and Metcalfe given a go. But arnie = evil so blah blah blah. But Stensness and Metcalfe were shit vs Japan and SA. Why not go with experience in these ‘do or die’ games?

Weren't you advocating immediately bringing Vaploto into the starting 11 just a few weeks ago? Or have you changed your tune since he hasn't played a single minute of football in 2 months?

No. Not as starting 11. As a sub option when AM’s were in short supply like no Mcgree, Rogic etc. Arnold is not doing well with his results and squad selections in case you hadn’t noticed. Some different selections needed to have any chance of making Qatar

Lmao exactly. Some people don’t know what they want. They just point to everyone who isn’t being selected (no matter how young or old) as the solution as it’s easy to claim they will perform better without any possibility of being proven wrong.

Do you guys enjoy watching a toothless and boring Roos performance over and over?! Arnold’s selections of Stensness, Metcalfe and Jeggo working wonders so far after all 😂 Luongo could provide competence to struggling midfield. And again i never suggested Volpato in the starting 11- only as a sub option

Both things can be true at the same time: - Roos aren’t playing well - We don’t have better options not being selected It’s not always one or the other bro.

Stensness and Metcalfe are crap. Just because they are young doesn’t give them a right to be in the Roos. The A league isnt high enough standard to gauge a player, need to go overseas to see if they can make it. Luongo is an ex Championship, Asian Cup winning player. Granted he has never been a superstar but he’s never sucked either, there are games he has dominated for the Socceroos and is currently the dominant player for SW. Metcalfe and Stensnness suck big time. You would have to be braindead to somehow reason they are a better option than Luongo.

It's great to have discussion but it seems lately that the thread has been derailed into socceroos arguments.
I think that stuff would probably be better suited to try the socceroos thread and leave this more to players current activity overseas.

I could understand if the thread strayed off into politics or something but we are literally talking about Aussies abroad.

And Luongo has had some atrocious games for us. Australia vs Germany at the confederations cup he was so bad he got subbed at half time.

+xStensness and Metcalfe are crap. Just because they are young doesn’t give them a right to be in the Roos. Agreed. The constant call to pick someone over someone else because they are younger is infuriating. Right now neither of them are as good or as professional as other more "boring" options. At international level experience counts for as much (or more) as natural talent. They could have played against teams like Chinese Taipei not thrown into a must win game. Playing their 2nd or 3rd game in the next two do or die games would be pure insanity and could only be done to cover your own arse.

Valpato scored, had a hand in 2 other goals with a couple of great through balls & played 90 mins at #10 for Roma's Primevera team. I reckon that Italy's Primevera comp would be a higher standard than the a league - apart from a few exceptions - and he dominates this comp.

Vince Grella was absolute tosh but after a couple of seasons in the Serie B he was a gun. Metcalfe might come good but it will be a slow progression playing for Melbourne Schitty.

Hrustic on at 80. Silly half two footer on Dembele. Sainsbury did it better with the shoulder in Kazan. Goal disallowed from ensuing free kick but this will annoy the manager. Their 11 is quite fixed currently.

Hrustic coming on against Barca at Camp Nou is huge. First time we’ve had an Aussie in that position since Maty’s Valencia days.
Frankfurt win 4-3 on aggregate and progress to the semis against West Ham.

Great to see Hrustic get a run and the Nou Camp and a win too. Obviously Barca are a shadow of what they were but still, what a moment.

Lowry starting against Guangzhou
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Beadling started and has an assist for Barrow who now have Brisbane flop Amadi-Holloway playing up top.

Boyle started. Deni Juric left on the bench - that's 2 games in a row. McGree with only a minute off the bench. JRB with the 2nd highest FotMob score - 90 mins playing LB. 90 mins for Dougall

Huge aussies abroad news that went unnoticed is that Adam taggart returned for cerezo a couple of days ago off the bench. He’s our best striker IMO. hopefully strings a few games together and ready to go for June

He's terrible for the socceroos so 6 goals in 16 games. 6 starts, so scores every start for socceroos. K league Golden Boot winner 2019, been injured for ages now. What are you expecting? Haaland numbers? does he need to score 8 in a game before he's good enough? holy shit some people live in a fantasy world.
