Mcgree has been playing as a 10 though. Carrick has given him a lot of freedom and he basically just goes around finding pockets of space. It's probably why he's found wide so often, but yeah he's still in the 10.

He certainly roams around. That's the modern game fortunately that players can find the space and make the most of it. My Kicker app and Transfermarkt has him listed as a left attacking midfielder since October but who scored deviate and say he's had some games as a 10 yet still double that number on the left.

He's definitely doing better for Boro than for Australia. He seemed to be instructed to stay in the middle for Qatar. Hopefully Arnold can give him a role to maximise his strengths.

For Aus in Qatar McGree was very impressive off the ball - in Ball Possession Opposition. Neither Rogic or Hrustic are as effective at closing down the opposition in possession of the ball.

Also, he played an effective role on the biggest stage. McGree played against the best teams in the world in France and Argentina. Denmark on paper, and when playing in Europe, are also high quality.

I thought he played quite attractive football but yes having that squad helps. Can he even speak French? The french can be pretty stuck up towards the english and he has more of an english accent these days.
