NPL started today, Sydney FC beat Marconi 1-0. My god, Sydney have some great young players: Kucharski (02), Segecic (04), Mostofi (04) all big players. What a production line they’re setting up.

Will any of them get a chance in the future though. All good creating strong production lines, but when they get to the end of the line and there’s nowhere to go, it’s hardly a great outcome.

Hopefully expansion of the football tiers in Australia will help, along with better overall incentives to develop and play those in the youth system.

The NYL, from the start, have had lots of good players, but they might  as we'll have been pissing in the wind. These young players should all give thanks for the pandemic, because 3/4s of them would not be playing without it.

Segecic was arguably best on ground, which is remarkable given he’s 16 and not particularly physically developed. He is a really, really good talent. If he can progress physically he could have an outstanding career.

Yep not just with him but also with alot of the team even though they physically under developed they look technically very good and some of them are 16 like Segecic, the problem is what will Sydney do when they reach first team level do they let them go to other clubs or do they try to fit some of them into the first team providing they are good enough of course.

I can see Sydney FC academy become a good resource for other clubs as long as a domestic transfer system gets in place so the club can benefit financially.

A few clubs have had really strong production lines but the challenge will be turning that into something meaningful.

WSW and MC in particular have also had a fairly solid youth program. Let’s hope clubs can actually turn the work that has been undertaken so far and build from there.

Thats the challenge for most teams who have youth set ups whilst craving results too, so indeed a tough balance to follow.

Europe is funding the war not Chelsea football club

Interesting that Hakoah in NPL2 have two former 02/03 Joeys leading the line for them this season in Joseph Roddy and Zac Sapsford. Both have strong potential.

What??

I may have misunderstood. The 02/03 what does that mean? I took it to mean 2002/2003, but that can't be right. Right?

Yeah - Sapsford is 2002, Roddy is 2003.
