My 34 man Squad
Goalkeepers Langerak, Ryan, Glover Defenders Grant, Karacic, Sainsbury, Souttar, Degenek, Good, Wright, Behich, Elder, Smith Midfielders Mooy, Jeggo, Irvine, Luongo, McGree, B. O’Neill, Holland, Lyden, Bozanic, Rogic, Hrustic, Watts Forwards Leckie, Mabil, Goodwin, Boyle, Borrello, Nabbout, Maclaren, Rukavytsya, D. Juric
There's a couple that are stiff to miss out, namely Taggart, Mauk, Metcalfe, Birrighitti, Strain and De Silva. Luongo needs to get some more gametime before then but is about to come back from injury I believe. If we have to take four keepers just take Vukovic as number 4 because there's no point taking someone else from their club during finals that is just going to sit on the bench.

+x+xRukavytsa, Hrustic, Nabbout, Kuol, Yengi, Boyle, Mabil, Piscopo, Goodwin, Leckie, De Silva Maclaren? Not worth picking unless the national team is built around him. Leave out Jmac, but bring in pups Kuol and Yengi? You've got to be kidding. The kids haven't even had a full season of a-league. You're getting sucked in to the hype. A fit and firing Maclaren will score 3+ in the bubble. I would consider bringing in raw talent in the context of a 34 man squad.... and yes JMac would very likely score 3+ against the likes of Nepal and Taiwan.

Considering we will have not played in almost two years, and World Cup qualification is at stake, I would be hesitant to be too experimental with our selections. I’m usually super in favour of promoting deserving youth prospects but considering the unique circumstances I would feel much more comfortable relying on the JMacs of the world for our first return to national team football in a long time.

These UEFA shocks and decent form and conditions for our opposition is making me increasingly wary.
First game is crucial. Experiment later.

I’m wondering if l Thomas could possibly be number one? Only goalie in Europe that is currently playing each week. The danish league should be on par with the j league if it’s not stronger

Hopefully we can beat Kuwait and then I'd be open to Thomas getting a game.

I don't think many would turn down a Roo call up but maybe Nabbout fancies glory for his club instead. Best have those discussions and I'm sure Arnie will set expectations. I struggle to pick 34 in that we have so many but hoping we beat Kuwait first up there will be a massive opportunity for the fringe players to play. Even Ryan Williams has mentioned his massive desire to be involved and he's done nothing wrong. Borrello is on a late resurgence.

I guess the benefit for Aussies in that nothing is really going to clash with those kick off times. Kuwait is only one hour ahead of CET.

What do you reckon? I think ABC television firstly means definitely on the TV but I wonder if that also means the stream will be on? Surely. VPN should do for that. Same goes for SBS.

Well just toying with Kayo and it seems they've gone big on blocking any VPN. End of an era there.

SBS showing the Nepal game. I wonder however if the FTA coverage will be delayed like it was previously.

+x+xDoes borello get overlooked? Seems to be playing lately in the German league Oh my bad his in the second division He plays in the Bundesliga 2 comp, on loan from Freiburg. I guess it would be a similar standard to the Championship? He's been getting a lot more minutes lately & not getting slammed by the Dusseldorf fans like he was. Looks like he's coming into form at the right time. Lot of people had high hopes for him a couple of years ago when he was playing fairly regularly in the Bundesliga.

Good watch. That win away in Jordan was massive. Such a good finish from taggart. Forgot how important Irvine was for us in the first few games.

Irvine and Boyle playing great together in Spfl, have to start vs Kuwait imo. Picking Striker is tough call. Taggs not playing much recently?! JMac good in AL but International?? Ruka gone a little cold lately?!

Maclaren doing incredibly well. He's only scored against minnows so I want to see him keep it up against better teams as we go.

More evidence building up. 34 players excluding those for Spain. I reckon Ikon is due for a call up with the way he's come back while Deng is going to try to stake a late claim. With the U23's away, we might just see Mileusnic in the big camp. Makrillos with 8 goals in Bulgaria. It's time to get Karacic in I think. According to reports:
Locks: Ryan Grant, Sainsbury, Degenek, Souttar, Wright, Behich, Smith Irvine, Mooy, Rogic, Holland, McGree, Hrustic Boyle, Leckie, Mabil, Ruka, Maclaren, Borrello
Strong claims Thomas, Izzo Atkinson, Deng, Good Dougall, Ikon, Metcalfe, Taggart, Giannou, Duke, Goodwin, Petratos
Mentions Federici, Glover, Redmayne Strain, Pierias, Karacic, Tongyik, Risdon, Burgess Ryan Williams, Mileusnic, Makrillos, Lyden, Bozanic, Brattan, Juric
Out due to injury or Olyroos Armenakas, Cleur, Juric, Kalik and Watts Elder, Langerak, Jeggo, Luongo, Nabbout
I've named 20 locks, 13 strong claims. So pick 1 from the mentions. So after all that, who did I forget?
