If the ACL isn’t profitable for Aussie clubs I can’t see this being either.

If it was an actual super league it might be interesting. As in the top decision for Us, Singapore, Indonesia Thailand etc. And all our national leagues were feeders. And not another continental cup.

It's certainly true that Australians don't really care about Australian clubs playing non-Australian clubs, it's pretty clear in the ratings data.  The one exception might be the Warriors in the NRL.  That's partly because of the high number of Kiwis in Australia, but also really a product of NRL fans watching lots of games.

What might be interesting here is if such a concept is popular in these other countries.  So, while it won't be a ratings winner here, it might be there, and that might drive broadcast revenue.

For example, the Super rugby ratings involving South African clubs were always poor, but  a large chunk of Rugby Australia's broadcast income was coming from South Africa and Europe.

I would not mind if we had more  WA teams so that we can  have more  SEA timezone friendly content and the odd pre-season tour now and again but a full blown  league...hell naw
