Cheers mate, I just cant get a handle on how the matches are "allocated" after the split so to speak... Why, for example, will Gers have 3 away and 2 home .... is it based on table position after round 33 or some other reason? Genuine question man.

They both must have an equal amount of home and away games. Has not always been the case as Rangers in two seasons had 18 home and 20 away. In an ideal world the top six would have played each other at home twice and away once, and of course vice versa, then you just even it up. But it doesn't always work that way, especially if a "projected "team upsets the odds and makes it.This season it looks like Celtic will need to go to Tynecastle THREE times.

Yea I get that, sort of. I guess will just have to wait to find out eh?

As explained in today’s Daily Record.

CELTIC and Rangers going head-to-head in an exciting title race brings the usual arguments over decisions, moaning about refs and general tit-for-tat bickering.Sadly for the SPFL, it also brings back the thorny issue of the split. And the fairness, or perceived unfairness, of the fixtures for the final five games of the season.Suffice to say, that can of worms which has been closed over for a decade due to one-sided romps could easily be ripped back open again. It’s the worst nightmare for the fixture compilers. A situation which leaves one of them feeling hard done-by or they are being conned. It’s finely-balanced with 180 minutes to go. It could all work out well for the SPFL – but, at the same time, it could well turn in a disaster zone. The concept is to try and get each club 19 games at home and 19 away with an even share of two home and away. When this season’s first section ends, Rangers will have had 17 home games and Celtic 16. With the final derby due for Glasgow’s east end, that’ll even it up before the scheduling of the other four post-split matches and that’s where it can become extremely tricky. If the table was being split right now, there’s a problem with Hearts, Dundee United, Hibs and Livingston occupying the other four spots.Rangers have already had Hearts, Hibs and Livi at home twice. Celtic have had them all away once. While the final fixtures against United would be even, there’s a problem with the other three. Celtic could face a third fixture away at Tynecastle, Easter Road or the Tony Mac and Rangers may get one of them at home for a third time. At the moment, it is so tight between fourth and 10th that anything could happen and it might all work out perfectly for the league. If, for example, Ross County and Aberdeen join Dundee United in the top six at the expense of Hibs and Livi, pieces might fall into place.Rangers will have been away to Dingwall twice and are due them at home. They’d also be due an game at Aberdeen.Celtic have had the Staggies at home twice and are due a second trip to the Highlands as well as Tannadice. They are also due a home game against the Dons. That scenario would give both 19 home games and an even number of home and away against post-split rivals. Perfect. But there’s going to be some rabble if United somehow find a way to fall out of it and, for talking sake, it’s the Reds and Motherwell who go into the top-half to join Hibs, Livi and Hearts.Suddenly, there’s a nightmare scenario for the SPFL of Rangers having played all five of the other teams in the top-six at home twice already in the season. It can’t be the Light Blues are asked to play every game away from home. Which means Rangers would have to get at least one of them, maybe two, at home twice.

That split scenario is diabolical. It’s like it is designed for both Celtic and Rangers to be unhappy with the outcome. Good grief!l

Rangers have pulled out of the Sydney Cup later this year. Something both sets of Glasgow fans can be happy about. Listening to all the Scottish podcasts this week, the more I hear the less I understand about them all! I really want to visit Glasgow and Scotland now, not just for the football, just so I cam be further confused.  Anyway, I wonder which foreign side will replace Rangers? A Scottish podcast was speculating it might be AC Milan? I’d be happy with Yokohama F Marinos but another big Euro side would be fun to watch too.

There is a derby going to be played in Australia, lets accept it and move on.

Now that the Huns have decided not to participate (they've seemed to have found a wee bit of commonsense for once), the Derby won't be happening.

HT: Celtic leading 2-1.

This has got to be the most exciting first half of a football match I’ve watched in a long time. Every single player just absolutely throwing themselves about.

Rogic by far MOTM so far, with commentators agreeing.

Very exciting but quality all over the place at the moment. I don't think either side has settled into the game yet.

My take on the game:

Rangers set up to counter Celtic's game. This already showed a lot of respect to Celtic's proactivity. They would have intended to push for as early a goal as possible to put Celtic on the back foot, and it worked, with Celtic falling into panic mode early on and passes not being met with runs. Callum McGregor showed his leadership quality, with Celtic's responding goal being largely down to his heroics. Celtic were then able to settle and begin to stamp their authority on the game. Once that happened, you knew the scoring chances were going to come.

Where Celtic fell short today was that their fitness wasn't up to a full 90 minute performance at this level of intensity. Hatate was well spent at least six minutes before he was subbed, and became a serious defensive liability that Rangers weren't able to capitalise on. The sub came too late, but it was clearly premeditated and Ange took a huge risk here.

Where Celtic need to improve to have a better handle on these games, and especially if they want to have any real shot in European competitions, is that their fitness needs to match the requirements of their game plan for the full 90. Along with this, improvement of their skill level in holding onto and controlling the ball would help to balance out this issue, and give them more respite - by this, I mean the finest of details, such as trapping and/or controlling the ball to the exact spot it needs to be for the next touch, and passing to facilitate this accordingly. Their tackling also needs to improve. I think it was four yellow cards that came from poorly-timed/late tackles (desperation and intensity of the match noted).

Rogic gave respite in possession, effectively holding up the ball before laying it off well to teammates throughout his shift. Without him, the team became mostly reliant on Giakoumakis for this. Man of the match has been touted for Rogic, and I think that's fair. Maeda was instrumental in the game plan, and indefatigable. If not Rogic, I'd give him MOTM.

An unbelievably intense game. My pedantic assessment is mostly down to the fact that I think Ange has ambitions for this team in Europe, which he should, so they will need to improve on these things. If his team begins to make a name for themselves, it won't be hard to attract quality players. The panicked start early on brought back old habits that will need to be drummed out of them, and this will be possible over time, but they showed incredible character to respond the way they did (again, hats off to McGregor, a true captain!).

This was one of the best matches I've watched in a long time. Congratulations Bhoys!
