The thing that amazes me though, is what the fuck does the VAR see that no one else apparently does. And the referee needs to be strong enough, when the VAR calls them to look at something, to say no. Although I also would prefer to see VAR fuck off forever.

+xAnother week, another dubious red, and this is after Yazbek sent Noone into the air with a late challenge. The red given is hardly a foul. The Sydney player put his arm across and around the Macarthur player to block him, and as the Macarthur player did the same to take the front position, the Sydney player went down way too easily once he realised he wasn’t going to break free. PLAY ON! Incredible to think how naive the officials are, looking at still frames as if they provide any context to the play in question. Any goals Sydney get from here on, for yet another week, should have an asterisk next to them. I wonder how many more matches they’ll play against 10 men this season. They don’t even look as strong side against 11. While I agree penalty was a joke & the send off was 50/50 & should have stayed refs call for yellow. I think Sydney was playing very well when it was 11 v 11 & was the better team.

+x+x+xI've said it before and I'll say it again. VAR is a waste of time. It can work for clear and blatant offside. And get in Couldn’t agree more. We might have hoped that it would be better than this, but it doesn’t actually rid matches of any controversy surrounding the officiating of the game. It's kind of proved just how subjective decisions are and that having the benefit of slow motion relays doesn't seem to make a difference. Even what constitutes "clear and obvious" is entirely up to the individual at the time. All it's done is take away the spontaneity of fan emotion with goal celebration that was footballs biggest asset. I hate it and have lost a lot of my love for football since it was introduced. Absolutely this. Although I am in the mindset that if VAR can’t be used properly it shouldn’t be used it at all.

It was shaping to be a good game, but has probably been spoiled by that soft red.

Not that I’m an expert on the game but that shouldn’t be a red. Hope VAR doesn’t ruin this one
