+x+x+xThe midfield three clearly lack in technical quality in those tight spaces which is making it easier for India to block the passing lanes. And we really only look threatening in set pieces, to be honest the u23 generation and below have better touch and control to play in those tight spaces than this lot. Not good enough, need more composure needed in the second half. I would be bringing in McGree and maybe Silvera if they cant score early in the second half. Makes me really question the omission of Robertson, especially with the recent retirements of Luongo, Mooy and Rogic. Truly bizarre call and now we're seeing it play out. Our midfield is absolutely stuffed for a tournament. Only O'Neill and Metcalfe possess a football brain. Arnold went on about how vital the workhorse 6 is. That's what got Stensness in. Why does he obsess over work vs skill? Irvine and Baccus are shocking with the ball. Then the inverted fullbacks are some cheap compensation to add more misery to the middle? Yazbek is there but will be considered too raw. Didn't see any brain from Metcalfe for the last 3 games

Finally! See what a bit of more basic conventional play does? Doesn't redeem much yet but a small step forward.

He was much better against Mexico and England and at club level. If he can play as an 8 or hang as an inner right mid with space he's fine.

Floodgates will probably open now simply due to experience and fitness. Annoyingly this will probably mean no need to reassess our tactics and selections.

At last! Boyle has grown into the game. Last 5 minutes of the first half he put in some decent crosses. Another good cross results in a mistake and goal.

+xBoyle is horrible, runs around like a headless chook. And his corners and crosses have been abysmal. I'm not sure how he gets picked, he did well in his first lot of games with the Socceroos but I can't recall much from him since. He is a different player than 3 years ago. Lately He hasnt performed well for Hibs either.

That's more like it. Swift short passes and moving and plenty of space to do so.

It's so simple. India now have to press and attack more that we're being afforded more space. Still, having Irvine run through the line is the dumbest idea with no pace or technical prowess. Also we've just started inverting the full backs again and get lose in what to do.

Nicely done McGree and you can see the quality Bos has from his league games. We should've been playing like this all game.
I think a few of our best players are shaking their head at what Arnold is trying to employ.
How I want someone at the press conference to ask Arnold what he thinks the benefit of inverted fullbacks is to the game plan.

I hope the Behich experiment is done once and for all, the position is Bos's and honestly Craig Goodwin watch out!

+xSilvera is supposed to be on the left, what is he doing on the right?? Now he's in the middle. I think Arnold is getting too creative with some players. Silvera can glide around though.

Why are our fullbacks so bloody narrow? Ffs driving me mad. There is so much room to exploit out wide, especially when we can't break any compact defences...

Should've nee a second for Bos there. Game essentially dead but you can see how much better McGree and O'Neill are.

McGree and Bos have been such an improvement since coming on. Surely they'll have to start in coming games.

+xWhy are our fullbacks so bloody narrow? Ffs driving me mad. There is so much room to exploit out wide, especially when we can't break any compact defences... They hang there as a distribution option then Irvine ends up way ahead or offside. Our wingers then get isolated and our other mids run away forward overstretching our passing lanes. We're essentially forcing ourselves to play with fewer players by doing this.

All hindsight now. I expected a 3 or 4 nil win but not having to wait so long and play such an anti football style.
Behich was a disgrace with all the back passing. Irvine showed all his technical deficiencies. The instructions only gave Metcalfe a hard day and he looked frustrated and kept making errors because of it.
The subs almost had something of a free rein and showed their superior level. Whether this was the plan from the outset I don't know. We'll know a lot more after 35mins against Syria.

So insipid.
Bos, Atkinson, McGree and O'Neill need to start next game.
India offered nothing and if we're gonna continue to find it hard to break down compact defences a better team like Syria will get the better of us.
Team is missing so much x-factor.

Silvera and Fornaroli were good when they came on too. I like the use of them as impact subs. Bos, McGree and O'Neill should be starting - no doubt in my mind.
