+x+xCFG lost $200m last year, wouldn't hurt that much to cover the Awards night ? Didn't all you ass 🤡 clowns said the FFA badly run this league? At least there was money to host these events. So what did the APL do to lose all this cash? I'm sure APL still have enough money for the Warren night But that would leave less for the Repucom gang to syphon

What is not skint, is the fact that the Apl will have live VAR during the semi finals. Leaders in Asia on this topic.

+x+x+x+xHonestly i dont mind. We dont have the budget of the nrl or afl. Grow the game till kur salary floor is 5milliom before worrying about luxuries. Get rid of var too, thats an extra 100k per club I agree, whatever, seriously why or who really cares whilst our so called top league is as such. The game has no pedestool to stand on - it would be a event just for themselves that is a waste of time/$ (they don't have) and their decision confirms it. though I just heard they didn't tell warrens family. Like why....basic courtesy Do you honestly think anyone at APL knows who Johnny Warren was? Probably not. Probably don't know who Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo either LoL

+x+xJust picturing all of the players realising they no longer need to buy their SO a new outfit for the evening. "The Australian Professional Leagues (APL) have chosen to tone down this season's Dolan-Warren celebrations, which are usually held in the lead-up to A-League Men grand final week at a glitzy ceremony" "We've had some fantastic events over the years - of all different variety - but this year we wanted to bring the awards closer to fans and give them a platform to be celebrated during the biggest games of the year." "Other awards will be announced digitally" hahahahahaha the marketing spin is strong with these guys... hahahahahah This is amazing if true. Marketing spin is legendary lol

+x+xMaybe if Danny Townsend didn’t blow the budget on last seasons ‘festival of football’ then piss off to Middle east (what a prick) - the Apl could afford a counter meal for the best players at the pub?! The APL CAN afford the event they CHOOSE not to hold it mate... thats the problem..... Spending money on bullshit money making schemes, dont give a flying fark about football or footballers.... never have, never will. THATS the MLS lite APL Franchise way . And people though Frank Lowy and the FFA was badly run! LoL FFA managed to persuade Foxtel on paying 40-60 million a year in A-league rights LoL As for the APL, I don't know how Paramount paid 40 million a year for this poxy league LoL

Most of the Aleague franchises have had 20 years to build a membership base and they will all have a senior team competing in the state based NPLs for their fans to follow.. They will just have to start building again to get to the top league.

Reports are emerging of how low the broadcast deal is getting to.
The league is also in need of promotion, DT blow the lot...
We as a Football community are left to clean it up.
I cannot see, with reports the broadcast deal to clubs has been suggest to be as low as 3 million and to be spread across, either, 12, 13 or 14 clubs....
I can't see how the existing wage structure can be paid if the broadcast revenue is so small.
Is it time to scrap the cap, reduce min wage levels....

Having a look at that Saving Football special on Code Sports.
True that they sent 70 people on a junket to the world cup, but can't have an awards ceremony for the players for cost cutting?
That Danny Townsend bloke. Gotta hope when he's in Saudi Arabia that he looks the wrong way at someone's sister.

I still wish we had all the games on foxtel and foxtel paid 60-70 million a year for 8 years for it. Then have one or 2 free to air games on Channel 10.

I see the a league as a "development league" where our best young players get a solid number of senior games under their belts before a potential move OS. That's the main reason I watch & support the league

Yeah they deserve recognition for developing the players, but it still doesn't explain why you have such a problem with the A League? Say one of your club's players gets signed directly by a big OS club, your not going to have a problem with that are you, because it's in the player's best interest for their career?

When a player from NPL and below gets signed directly to an overseas contract that indeed is a major cause of celebration... Even if the player is non contracted here the Australian club would usually get some sort of player training compensation at the least... some even pocket a hefty sum to then use to train further players. I dont have a problem with the Aleague, it doesnt exist for me and thousands of others ... nor does it want to engage with us.. It is "fishing where the fish are" and good luck to it... while it lasts.

I support the league "right at my doorstep" and have done for the last 40 odd years.... Was at the match on Sunday, will be at the OG derby at Somers St vs Knights on Friday and then the FA cup match against Preston on Tuesday... If my team ever gained promotion to the Aleague then perhaps I would watch other clubs matches like I do NPL at the moment, until then Aleague doesn't exisit for me.... not sure what part of that is hard to understand? My "support" for Liverpool is a tv thing, who cares if they win or lose? Its just like watching other overseas football, it makes it more interesting if you have a team in the league to barrack for.
