I've lived and worked now in the UAE for the past 8.5 yrs and curious thing I've noticed being around so many English (they practically run the place) is that they kinda view us as partly British! In there minds if they couldn't find a good Englishman to coach the team then a Scot, welshman,Irishman or Aussie is next best thing. It's a curious disposition as that feeling certainly isn't shared the other way in Australia! Still remember during 2016 Euros my boss saying to me "well I guess you'd be supporting England then with no Australis in it?!" My response - "are you joking, I'll be supporting every single side that plays against you and so will every other Australian" haha
