Time to repeat some stats from the A League site.
Obviously they can be interpreted widely. For instance, among others they count 'successful crosses'. How can you compare that? Our successes are often beating the first defender or getting it in the air, whereas other teams may regard it as plonking the ball in a goalscoring position.

Anyway new coach, 3 matches - 20 Glory shots on goal, and 52 shots against us.
It does include blocked shots, but however you look at it, it is not inspiring confidence.
The previous 10 matches it was 110 for and 143 against, with almost all that discrepancy from our 2 away losses against Victory and Roar.
Obviously highlighting the difference in how we are now playing and creating - Shots on goal falling 40% per match, shots against us increasing 21% per match.

But hey, we could win, Sydney and Newcastle lose (against Victory and Wanderers) and we'd be 5th on the ladder.
Maybe one match at a time, and concentrate on beating Heart.

Oh fuck off if it's all about the results then the football we've played the last three weeks has seen a return of only 1 win and that was because the other team couldn't put away their chances.

That's 1/3 return so it's hardly something to be blase about.

Like Hotrod said this season is a write off. Again. Which is so fucking annoying.

I wouldn't mind if we only got 1 win from 3, but were playing good football and you could see we weren't far off the pace. I don't care about getting a win if it just papers over the cracks.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, it's a shame Glory lost Miller and Cordoba.

Miller scored one goal and had two assists on the weekend. FFS, and he wasn't worth the money????

I can see the reason they were let go, to save money. But then Glory sign a walking wounded defender??????? FFS, a position that is really the least of Glory's worries ATM.

With hindsight, Glory should have retained both Miller and Cordoba and built upon them this season with youth surrounding them.

Imagine the sublime passes for speedy winger to run onto and then into goal???

Instead Glory have to resort to long balls and for speed to hopefully overwhelm defences.

I hope that Glory realise that they need a key playmaker ACM and get someone before the transfer window shuts in heir face.

I agree (partly) that it was a mistake to cut both ball playing mids in Miller and Cordoba, but at the time the situation was difficult with 4 experienced central mids on the books. I think it was the right idea to cut it down to 2, but unfortunately:

Burns - was contracted for another year.

McGarry - was cheap and a good club man.

Miller - was older and wanted a long term deal, which I think rightly the club refused (esp given our youth policy and the fact that Burns was on our books).

Cordoba - wanted decent money and although classy, didn't set the world on fire, played well at season end under Edwards.

Given this, I think it may have been better to keep Cordoba and Burns and cut McGarry, but that would be difficult given McGarry's great work ethic and effectiveness (despite his limitatons) in the past. Keeping all 3 would mean no room for DDS and the rest of the kids, and would make the 'development' approach a bit of a farce. Ideally, we would have got rid of Burns, and kept Cordoba and McGarry, but getting rid of Burns at Glory is no easy thing.

Exactly, the win last week proved nothing except that the Glory is luck and over-relies on Thwaite/Vukovic to keep a clean sheet to win.

Haven't found a forward structure that works, Sidnei isn't the same lethal weapon since Ali went and ofc our central mid is a shambles and the former NTC coach is telling them to hoof.

A win does nothing to hide any of that.

Would have meant no Nagai/McGarry I think and if McGarry didn't have a contract extension I think a lot of people would have been pissed then too.

I can't really see this team progressing at all until Burns is gone anyway, that would be my key transfer out this off-season (gawd we're looking forward this early on? ffs...)

Me thinks the Club now worries in hindsight about not signing our young guys because of the Taggert experience.

Although that should never happen again because we're supposedly now giving them all a chance to show what they've got, as opposed to previous years.

When's Dean Evans and Harry O'Brien going to get a run? Lowe's had THREE games to give them game time and failed. I thought we were meant to play all the lads - that's why Ali got sacked after all. #SackLowe

I wonder if the new coach will have any say in transfer targets? :D

Noticed a heap of press down at Glory training today as I passed by.

A lot more than normally the case.

Maybe they were waiting for a riot or something to erupt.

No idea why they'd want to be there otherwise????

Yeah, sorry I'd thought I'd sneak a typo in there to show what I think.
But at least it's only 1 week and not the usual 2.
And I think Foxe showed his support for Aloisi and walked out the door with him, so he is now also Heartless.

(Assuming I don't receive them by then) I'll be ringing the Glory office again on Thursday to organise e-tickets for Saturdays game. At that point, I'll also chase up the CEO on twitter again. His last response was "I'm onto it" 5 days ago - haven't heard anything since.

Just rang to organise e-tickets, since my memberships still haven't turned up.
Have been told they're not emailing e-tickets for Saturday's game and if the memberships still haven't turned up, I need to go to gate 1 to collect match-day tickets. *Sigh*.

Was also told that I "should" receive the memberships in the mail today, because they were posted on 11/11/13 from Adelaide. :-s

They obviously moved your membership there along with the fixture...

Guess what just turned up in the mail...

Interesting followup to the 5 week delay in receiving my memberships....

Yesterday in the mail I received another another 2 membership packs (for the same 2 memberships) in the mail.

I swear the club couldn't organise a r*** in a br*****.

I know a lot of people seem to be impressed with Jason Brewer , but personally I'd prefer to see a CEO who doesn't go in the shed, and doesn't post on twitter if it meant that the club actually gave the impression of being professionally run with regard to memberships.

As an aside, West Coast Eagles supporters I know have already received their membership backs for next season. Glory could learn a lot...

Say what you will about West Coast, they're by and large intolerant of administrative screw-ups.

You could probably extend that to the AFL in general.

It may be a scrappy game (IMO) with a ridiculously dodgying fixturing system, but the off-field administration seems to do nearly everything right.
