The Yoof league summary from FFA.
Don't know where any of this ever gets covered, but a bad injury to a Glory youngster.
Wont go into the benefits of having men, women and yoof leagues all playing in the one city at 3 separate locations.
And where was DDS this weekend, is he injured, as not seeing enough game time, or isn't he old enough. Some pace in the middle may have been warranted.

Adelaide United have moved to equal second on the Foxtel National Youth League table following a 4-1 win over an injury-ravaged Perth Glory at Intiga Stadium on Saturday night.
The Reds scored two goals in each half in a dominant display and are now level on points with the Newcastle Jets, who drew 1-1 with Brisbane Roar earlier on Saturday.
Antony Golec opened the scoring in the 25th minute before the match was suspended for a lengthy period when Glory youngster Aleksandar Jovic suffered a broken leg.

Both teams left the field after officials decided to clear the pitch for Jovic to be taken away in an ambulance.
Jovic's injury came after Glory suffered a blow in the warm-up when Joshua Tucker strained a quad muscle and had to be replaced in the starting side by David Stokoe, who then rolled his ankle after just 20 minutes and took no further part in the match.

Reds striker Anthony Costa came agonising close to opening the scoring after 16 minutes when his dipping free-kick clipped the crossbar as the visitors took control of the match.
Both teams were lively after returning to the pitch following Jovic's injury, with the Reds picking up where they left out almost immediately.
Costa made it 2-0 for the visitors just six minutes after play resumed with a punishing strike from close range.

Glory was able to score against the run of play when Adelaide goalkeeper Paul Izzo missed a ball that was kicked back to him and Harry O’Brien took advantage.
Borbor Sam had two chances late in the first half to level proceedings, but was unable to convert his first attempt while a harsh offside call on Gian Albano spoiled the other.

But it was all Adelaide after half-time and only some timely and opportunistic defending from Blamo Qua Qua and Scott Robertson prevented the Reds from going further ahead in the first 20 minutes after the break.

Another rare blunder from Izzo, who fell outside the box when he grabbed a high ball in the 67th minute, gifted Glory a free-kick from close range but the home side were unable to capitalise.
The Reds then scored two goals in two minutes through a long-range strike from Dion Kirk and a goal-line header from substitute Bruce Kamau to ice the impressive victory.
Adelaide have now won four of their past five matches, while Glory slumped to a third straight defeat and remain second last on the table.

Correct me if I'm wrong but apparently DDS was sick?

He looked okay when I saw him walking the stadium grounds pre-game on Sunday, but you never know.

Your subjective hate for Edwards still, even though your side "won" with his sacking has gotten really old quick.

Too early to tell. He wasn't 100% against Adelaide- you could tell he was only playing within himself. With Nagai out they will want to start him but if he isn't training at 100% it will more likely be a Harold/Zahra combo.

You would hope Sidnei would start our next match.
Isn't this the New Year's Eve match, so a 9 day break after a sub appearance should sort his injuries out.
In the meantime, I'll be hoping the man in the big red suit magically drops off a striker or two, plus a couple of midfielders at Perth Oval.

The W-League on the weekend, but puts into perspective how serious to take the FFA with their promises about not playing matches in extreme heat.
Seriously, totally stuffed in the head to be forced into playing when the Sunday maximum was 41 degrees in Penrith.

http://www.footballaustralia.com.au/news-display/FFA-medical-policy-is-always-in-the-interests-of-players/46216
http://www.footballaustralia.com.au/news-display/ffa-rejects-claims-over-player-welfare/78632

Western Sydney have made it back-to-back wins in the Westfield W-League after a 3-0 victory against Newcastle at Centrebet Stadium on Sunday.
In sweltering conditions in Sydney's west, a first-half goal to winger Linda O'Neill and Catherine Cannuli's brace after the break proved the difference between the two sides.

With the match played in near 40-degree heat, both sides struggled to play with high intensity for long periods but it was the Wanderers who still dominated large chunks of possession.

Hopefully Lowe can do his thing in this interim period, and his thing, hopefully, involving carrying on this transition and something similar to Edwards' philosophy and there-fore making the next coach of similar philosophy's job, easier. And Lowe could EASILY become that 'next coach' if he does a good job of it. Infact, iirc, it wasn't initially clear if Edwards was FT when he came in, or just filling in, especially as he was still Joeys coach then too. It was only some time into his 'filling in' that he was confirmed/signed longer term and departed the Joeys job officially?

Lowe has, apparently, been around the coaching game some time, is well experienced, bringing through young players via ECU Joondalup or what not (as little as I know, edit: actually the WA NTC it seems?) and his knowledge of local talent and bringing though young talent could be what this team needs and make us miss Ali Edwards that bit less, if that's possible. He may similarly bring that West Aussie pride too, despie being a clear Brit Expat, given how long he's been involved in the local game and surely too, watching on at what has happened at Glory these years. He'd be a different character from Edwards, you'd presume, and that could be required, but hopefully he still brings that ambition for the West Australian club and it being the apex for the West Australian football pathway/pyramid, something/a key thing, Edwards was instilling in the club.

=d>

Not prepared to write off Gallas either - He was always against the odds, fitness wise, given the time he was out of pro-football and the late signing. He had no pre-season and fitness was always going to take some work. Not quite as much catch up as Kewell, perhaps, but not too different, in a way and inevitably niggles would kick in. The change at CB too means Gallas will both be needed, yet, not desperately, with Thwaite, Clisby and co about. But a fit Gallas coming in there is definitely an upgrade on the field and we saw snippets of that when he WAS on the field!

Infact, one dares to say/hope, that ONCE Gallas sustains a period of building fitness and even 'match fitness' his 'run' in the first XI could coincide with a run of form for Glory, come circa the January/Feb period, not unlike 'last season' again?! :-k [-o<

FTR I liked the way he discussed some of the young talent in his first post-match presser, see here:

http://www.foxsports.com.au/video?v=perth-glory-presser_1226788517900&vc=733

When he was talking about Jamie MacLaren and the '...I bet you he'd love it in the State League! Where do you think he'd rather play?! In the State League or here, upfront? He's loving it, he loves being in the first team! ... He wants to be where he is. He'll get burnt by the fire - if you don't get burned, then you don't learn! You don't get pushed out of your comfort zone, you don't learn.'

And the defence, the inexperience but his support for that talent and 'the pre-existing three year plan' which he's continuing.

And Cameron Edwards, his support of him and 'his strong character' as reflected in his 'hard working performance' for a boy 'who's not a pensioner'.

Heck, loved that presser - positive! =d>

Edward's youth policy sign Lubo a 32 year old 'nutter' once that ends in tears sign a 36 year old injury prone Frenchman. You can bet if he had a son who was a CB he wouldn't have signed either Lubo or Gallas.

Give it a rest mate. Ljubo has issues but is quality, Gallas is injury prone but also quality. Most people on here thought both signings worth the risk. And most Ali haters wanted more senior players in the team, so what's your point - everything he did was wrong?

If he'd signed them and they managed to stay together/fit, does that then make him a genius? But if they fail, then he's a fool? You can't judge a decision based solely on hindsight. Football is a game of (calcualated) risks.

Ljubo was outstanding in pre-season for us.

Gallas in his 30 minute false start showed he is a class above this league if he can get physically right and stay that way.

I realised when the first of this lot piped up post-MV match that there was no point arguing with them. They have, objectively, only a beginners understanding of football from a tactical or even analytical standing. It is fine to be anti Edwards, however you need to make factual observations to be taken seriously.
