Are the sums right?
Burns got a Yellow against Roar, so number 5 for the season?
Bye, bye again, so this will be 4th match out of 16 missing due to ill discipline from the standard setter.
Soon, very soon I hope, the old 'passion for the club' cliche will get turfed.

The Yoof report from the weekend mentioned Maclaren being subbed with an ankle injury - worth noting given that he is Glory's equal top scorer this season (correct, with 2).
(And are these recent Yoof matches really kicking off at 10.30 in Perth - so that it's only 100 degrees for the 2nd half of games? )

Sheesh, it's bloody obvious why it hasn't happened.

Burns vetoed it because it'll put his position in the team under threat.

This might be closer to the truth than we all think. #-o

Already disappointed, was hoping Griffiths would be signed by now to play in the WSW game (taking Burns spot due to his suspension and then playing well enough to put him on the bench to start his demise).

Hasn't Griffiths been training with the club for almost 2 weeks? Why are they holding back on Madaschi and Griffiths? Are they keeping their options open for something better in the transfer window? Are they keeping a spot open for the slightest chance that Ruka would be interested? Or Kaiser Burns?

Just want to ask/discuss with you guys about last home game -

My bro and I entered but arranging with my bro late I only had my own member ticket - so let him through with that and stood in-line to purchase my own. Anyway, the queue at Gate 3 was like 200 deep at it's longest, roughly counting AND people said the queue at the main gate was even longer. I technically didn't receive my tickets, enter the venue, till the 30-35th minute mark and even then there were a good 50 or so behind me.

I witnessed people leaving due to frustration and impatience too - no doubt more turned away too.

I'm not a regular attendee at Glory games so is this a regular occurrence or was the better than average crowd in the irregularly scheduled Friday evening game a surprise so caught the organisation off-guard?

One wonders what kind of crowd could've been accommodated had there been more registers available to process the 'walk ups'? As there was plenty of activity around the ground, well into that first half!

I dare speculate, in a perfect world, another 500 fans, atleast, could've been accommodated into the ground, due to interest at the gate, if not more!

If that's one thing Sage and co need to look at, it's that! But I guess there's only so much Glory can control and it's an issue with venue management Allia and/or Town of Vincent?!

But the capacity to cater for more 'walk ups' at the gate should be a bigger priority if the demand is such at most home games. Valuable fans/potential fans are being lost.

Sure - we can blame many of them for not pre-booking online, but that's the nature of people and infact Glory being based there, their well known home, should be a general attraction to walk ups and last minute decision makers. As in like the good ole Snowball effect, the more there, the greater the crowd, the more interested piqued and more who'd like to get in on the show!

That is what was happening last Friday evening!

More tills, ticket processing, somehow! Even improvised? Have something! There MUST be a way to sort this, even with permanent investment in upgrading the gate capacities? They upgraded the venue itself - it's high time they upgraded the entrances and their capacity too!

As it's clear Glory are losing valuable fans due to needless technical issues!

We have a rough consensus over the squad and even line ups!

Bovs you are right - Thwaite at DM would work better and he's played that kind of role before. Gallas and Madaschi behind.

Thwaite and R. Griffiths' distribution at DM seems an open question for me though and that's why Gallas' technical class had me moving him up. But despite his savvy and experience, his lack of pace and perhaps match fitness/stamina and even physical vulnerability could see him more exposed there.

The new Serbian #10 is yet to be proven indeed, but atleast he's a signing who clearly fills the void, suits our tactical yearnings. Hopefully Lowe's eye for talent is good and if so, then he will be well worthy of taking on the job FT!

These signings should also see the likes of Cernak relieved of their 'give them a run' period and so players like he can be released end of season with far less guilt, given Lowe 'gave them an opportunity'!

Burns' contract is up end of season. It's ill-logical - but I guess when did logic come into anything this season?! ](*,)

Lowe carries on, instincts suggests he means what he says when he says he will carry on Edwards' work, as CEO Brewer instructed! It's clear that Burns and some others need to go for the sake of the team's competitiveness, let alone development!

With such quality, ready waiting, replacements on the horizon, the pieces are poised for Lowe to act - The only thing holding back is he's still interim coach, not full time.

It's weird, here at Glory, after Jacob Burns FC, end of season couldn't come soon enough, in a way! All this period inbetween is just seeing out the remains of Jacob Burns FC!

To let Rostyn Griffiths slide would be almost criminal - he JUST what Perth Glory needs, positionally, in a time of urgent need. He's better than what Glory could have even hoped for! As he's genuine quality, an Aussie AND a local star, to-boot! The very kind Ali Edwards sought to 'bring back'! So is Madaschi!

The next 'Perth Glory Legends' waiting on our doorstep!

Albania international Besart Berisha will leave Brisbane Roar at the end of the season to link up with Melbourne Victory.

The Roar confirmed Berisha's departure on Wednesday, citing salary cap pressures as to why the club could not hold onto the 28-year-old.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-01-22/berisha-to-join-melbourne-victory/5212654

Oh good.
I have struggled recently with many sleepness nights when it was first mooted that Berisha could be lost to the A-League.
Fortunately, that will not be the case, and myself - his biggest fan, along will ALL A-League, football and sporting supporters in general, can rejoice.
For we can now continue to enjoy the sublime skills, demeanor and sportsmanship that this icon of the world game brings into our world on weekly basis.

This is definitely something that needs to be sorted out...

No longer being a season ticket holder, and not having a printer (plus I only live 5 minutes from the ground) the last 2 games I have decided to just buy tickets at the gate, resulting in the following 2 experiences:

1) rocked up 2hr before kick-off to buy ticket then go to pub for a drink. Found out gates and hence ticket box did not open until 1 hour 30 mins before KO... ok a pain but at least we were about 8th in the queue... once it came around to gate open time it still took another 20 minutes before ticket box opened, and then took 20 minutes to process the 8 people in front of us in the queue!!! Ended up not going to pub because it was only 35 minutes to KO by the time we got tickets

2) arrived 20 minutes late and arrived to find massive queues still out the front. Ticket processing ridiculously slow again. Got in just in time to see Berisha's red card

A long time ago, you used to be able to walk straight up to the entrance gates... pay someone in cash and receive a ticket stub as you went into the ground. Now it seems EVERYTHING must go through Ticketmaster... and it takes forever. Credit card purchases have to be sent to TM for processing and then you have to sign to say you received your ticket... why do they make it so complicated?!

If anyone has the ear of the club and can point out what a frustration this is, and that it's definitely a turn-off for fans and in particular new attendees who may already be disgusted with the high prices... it definitely could be improved massively. In fact, it could be improved just by going back to how it used to be done (used to be quicker and easier to get into the ground even when there were 15k crowds than it is today).

It certainly doesn't sound easy for walk up fans.
I fortunately get to go staight in, but then have a short wait while I get checked out by security.
My hideous crime (which is hideous at times) is to have my face painted.
'Oh, we don't know who you are, we can't see your face, we've got to get the ok from security before we can let you in, etc'.
I thought it was only Adelaide that had an issue with that type of thing.

It's the same issue for a few years now. They don't care. I'm speculating but I wonder how many people buy in person to avoid getting slugged a $5.50 "processing fee" online. A few years ago Glory absorbed that cost.

I've had a number of problems with the ticketing at Glory games recently.

1) At the Adelaide game, my mate arrived late (about 40 min in) and tried to buy a ticket at gate 3. He was told he was too late and they weren't selling anymore tickets, even though he was more than happy to pay the full admission price and it was nowhere near a sellout.

2) Arrived at the Brisbane game 35 mins before kickoff. Noticed the massive line at gate 3 and walked around to the main gate , where it was a bit quieter. Although I only had about 8 people in front it took 30 mins because people wanted allocated seats. Pretty annoying when I had cash and just wanted to purchase a general admin ticket, that took 30 seconds to process.

3)The same mate that had problems at the Adelaide game, buys his ticket online this time and pays $30 + $6 in additional fees, compared to the flat $30 at the ground. The extra charges may be ticketmasters doing, but surely Glory would monitor this and adjust the prices accordingly? After all they should be encouraging people to buy tickets in advance not charging you more.

I have been away from perth for a number of years, but I can certainly see why the club struggles to get the crowds these days, if this is the kinda thing you have to constantly put with. Just to enter the ground!

ive never understood why so many people que at gate 3. gate 1 has more ticketing and entry options and ive never had a problem when arriving 30mins or so before kick off. so times it takes up to 15mins but never anymore than that. ive got a membership these days so only really experience this when brining a non member friend. with the payment options these days of monthly debits its really worthwhile to get a membership.

Another example of Glory incompetently handling what would otherwise be a sensible course of action. Of course look at the long term squad, but Jesus H Christ, if you are discussing sending a loan player back early to free up a squad spot you should bloody well tell them about it first.

Football Australia wrote:

Ryan Edwards loan deal in doubt

Perth Glory has approached English Championship club Reading to end the loan deal that brought Ryan Edwards to Perth, but at this point the Olyroos midfielder wants to stay with the Glory.

Perth Glory CEO Jason Brewer acknowledged that initial discussions had taken place with Reading, but said any potential movement was far from being decided.

“We’re very happy with Ryan’s performance, he’s done very well for us and that was reflected in his selection for Oman,” said Brewer.

“We did make a preliminary enquiry based on our team makeup and transfers. It was very early stages of seeing when they would take him back.

“It was more to gauge Reading’s long term vision and to make decisions about our team makeup.

“Our coaches looked at the team and given Ryan is on loan made a decision based on whether or not he would still be here in the future.”

“Based on a response from Reading, we are happy to have Ryan here for the rest of the season and as a member of the first team squad.”

Edwards has just returned home from representing Australia at the Asian Under-22 Championships. It was while in Oman he received a phone call from Reading telling him they were in a receipt of an email from Glory chief executive Jason Brewer asking that the season-long loan deal be cancelled during the January transfer window.

It's understood Edwards was unaware of Glory's intentions, and has since made it clear he prefers to see out the season at his hometown club rather than return to England, where his chances of a first-team breakthough with the Royals remain unlikely.

Seen a few things on Twitter suggesting it's because of disharmony in the squad between him and others.

I find it difficult really believing much of what gets said with this Club and how there's always a few versions of events, etc.

In this story:
Here's betting that Glory weren't expecting that Reading would contact Edwards at all in Oman.
(and by co-incidence no doubt, but real nice and cute the emails going off while he was nowhere near the club).
How would he feel when he's off representing his country and gets a phone call from the 3rd party saying his club wants to cancell his deal.
Then once found out, the CEO has to justify it with all this preliminary, early stage, future plans stuff.
And most still remember a big reason of sacking the coach was because he was playing his boy who - "very happy with Ryan’s performance, he’s done very well for us, ... we are happy to have Ryan here for the rest of the season".

Agree, very underhanded to do it while he's away from the club and that was very weird justification from the CEO. Brewer's style of trying to sweep things under the rug and hope for the best doesn't sit well with me

You know, asking for one season without all this bullshit is a bit too naive and optimistic but could we please have just a couple of weeks without any PG bullshit?

Well if there was a rift before....what have the club done now, made it a fissure?

No, ignore the fact that Ryan still wants to hang around even after what the players and club of JBFC did, no you have to try and push him out....so we can get Cernak more game time? FFS...

I will gouge my eyes out with a pitchfork it Cernak gets another start this weekend.

He is pants. Redwards is miles ahead, even though he is not a world beater, but good enough for the U22s.

Have to retract my Burns' stuff about yellow cards.
Too hard for my brain, as messed me up with his 4th and 5th yellows against CCM, which gave him a Red.
I thought he'd missed a week for getting that Red, but presume it was for 5 yellows.
Anyway, he got another last week, so he's into his next lot and I'll keep my cut and pasting of comments handy.

Agree.

Cernak is rapidly approaching Jamie Coyne levels of uselessness, IMO.

Just received an email from the club titled "A message from Rostyn Griffiths" informing me that he had infact signed with Glory until the end of the 14/15 season.

That would be assuming that Glory manage for the first time the extraordinary concept of tidying up all the appropriate clearances andpaperwork for their new international signing.
I would be most surprised given our history.
We never seem to get it right, and always just waiting on that final document that hasn't quite arrived, and always something out of the Club's control.
