lol ...
in regards to the jacob burns signing .. if true ... would be fantastic ... the brett holman rumour ... i havnt been to impressed with him playing for socceroos, but i have only see him play for socceroos and not at club level, i can imagine him though forming a lethal partnership with dadi, as holman does have glimpses of pace and creativity.
in regards to the wolves game ... cmon july 10 hurry up!
I hope we do get an excess of 20,000 to the game .... i hope perth football fans dont dissapoint, and if wolves enjoy their time here, it may well only be the beginning in have top premier clubs come to perth.
even though i assume glory will get thumped lol ... i hope it will still be a decent contest to watch, even if glory can get a goal or two for the fans, thats what we wanna see. It's ashame its not being telecast on tv or anything though .. i dont think anyway?
glory = finals 2009/10 season!!!

Hmmmm. looks like Kaz Patafta's time at Newcastle may be coming to an end. after several dismal seasons in the A-league do you think we might take a look at this very promising youngster ?

hmmm i dunno ... maybe he needs confidence to reach his full potential .. and maybe he might get that at glory? his young, and defintely knows the standard and quality of the a-league and what it takes ... i wouldnt mind glory signing him up ... obviously if we find better midfielders, kaz would still make a good squad player, as there sure are to be injuries throughout the squad where he will be a good fill in

Thats what i was thinking. all hypotheticals though. does anyone have any ideas as to how many contracted players we have and thus how many we need to find. i know we ave 3 imports to buy.

stash him away in the youth league for a season where he can play against kids of the same build as him. his simply too lightweight and gets knocked around far too easy. i dont doubt the kid has talent but he might need a bit more time

The rags are saying 16 contracted players so 7 spaces to fill (I assume the squad sizes are still 23) with 3 of those imports.

Who've we got in the centre midfield? Shroj and Burns? I would rather see him at a new club in the starting XI (like North Queensland) than to come here and just sit on the bench.

Actually Burns and Srhoj are more defensive midfielders, different midfielders to Kaz. And at Nth Queensland atleast, it's not necessarily so that he'd see more game time, seeings they have Felipe, Talay, Santalab and the like? Kaz could be our cost-effective Trinidad replacement? I mean, Mitch could look to utilise him as he did Trinidad - off the bench, last 20 minutes as an impact sub, a guy coming on to change the formation, play in the hole, behind Dadi? If Kaz improves, then he could always earn more minutes, even a run of starts. If we sign Burns, a Marquee, a decent CB and another Visa guy, then our salary cap may become tight. Kaz would not be pricey, but we may end up getting a nice big bang for the buck, if it works out. If it doesn't, then it didn't cost us much. And he would have to be a 1 year contract, with an option for 2 years or something like that. But honestly, for Kaz, he has no future in this league - for better or worse. Two clubs, under two of the 'so-called' leading coaches and he can't make an impression. It's either Asia, like the C-League or even the K-League, if they'll have him, or maybe back to Europe, like Belgium, the Netherlands or somewhere, if they'll have him. did anyone listen to the last podcast of "lets talk football" with sageys interview? i was a bit late getting to it seems it was on 5/4 but it was still interesting none the less. if you havent this was the run down.. wolverhampton game is confirmed, only thing that could get in the way is if we can't find suitable hotels and training grounds for them which wont be an issue.... the club is looking at bringing an asian club or another a-league side over to perth to play against the wolves & ourselves.... the prospect of fulham coming out seems to be a genuine chance as well..... our socceroo hasn't been named as he was worried he would loose gametime with his current club and then miss out on future socceroo selection, it will be announced as soon as their season is completed.... the socceroo wages will only be moved over to marquee status if we can't find a suitable marquee.... mitchell's travels to europe was focusing on the netherlands and we are looking at using sikoras connections for a potential signing.

Thats great news. There's lots of good training grounds around. Wesley College has great grounds on campus, been there once, best grounds I've seen.

wow ... that sounds good ... i love the way tony sage is thinking and how he is moving the club in the right direction. For once we actually sound professional and that they are actually gonna put money into the club, and take action to win something, since the NSL days of course.
I think hotels has been confirmed for the wolves, as i saw on their website the other day for accomodation booked for the team and travelling fans. And im sure it wont be to hard to find suitable training grounds.
hmmm about the socceroo that we have signed, all european leagues finish in about 6 or 7 weeks dont they? or is that just the premier league? looks like we have to wait about another month or so until we find out who it is.....

after the interview it led to speculation it could be holman because his season was ending in the 4-5 wk period tony mentioned. im still sticking to my guns that its burns however.

that would be great if we got both! which by the sounds of it ... sounds very appealing!
I can really see holman working well with dadi up front ... dammit, cant wait for these 'impressive string of signings' to be released.

with burnsy playing DM and holman playing AM, Sikora n Pelle playing on the wings would be a very tasty midfield. hoping for marquee we splash out on a striker otherwise dadi is going to be rather lonley this season.

if we do sign holman ... do u think we will sign him on normal wages or marquee? question is ... is he worth marquee status? he must be the socceroo tony sage is talking about where they will sign him up, and then if no marquee is found, make him marquee.
If we can get holman on normal wages ... and sign burns on normal wages.... i think looking for a marquee center back to partner harnwell would be the best bet.
roque junior?

holman is a poor mans culina and glory are a poor mans goldcoast so it make sense haha?? i like the whole roque junior and denilson talk its pretty dam exciting. twg has a follow up on denilson today - http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/a-league/denilson-talking-to-a-league-clubs-182585/im not really interested in getting anyone in on just a guest stint though it disrupts the team too much

if glory could sign either denilson or roque junior as marquee that would be brilliant, but of course ... only for the whole season .. not this crappy guest stint idea coz that does make it seem that they are just here for the money and a holiday, and indeed dus distrupt the team.
I would prefer roque junior ... providing we sign burns and holman (would complete the starting 11 for our attack and midfield) ... a big, quick and agile centre back next to harnwell ... would be brilliant ... im trying to imagine the likes or archie thompson or aloisi trying to get past roque junior ... but cant see that happening lol

Holman + Roque Junior would be great. Plus Burns and suddenly we have quality everywhere, except left back. :p But even that could be fixed as we still would have a Visa spot or two, free, which we could use on a crafty AFC LB.
lol Interesting, that Denilson and Roque Junior talk does not die down. But year, would have to be season long contracts, more of a commitment. And if they do well enough, then atleast the A-League had them for the season.

well we do have scott neville at LB now right? sure he still has a lot to prove but should be a handy player. i dont mind sprinkling the starting lineup with youth. it keeps the older fellas on their toes. something you see afl clubs do from time to time to inspire the team.

narr neville is a right back.
a crafty AFC leftback does sound like a good idea though ... but i dont think asia is on dave mitch's recruitment list. I think his just going through several places in europe.
Do you think there is a undiscovered gem in the state league that glory can find, like when glory found rukavytsa? Onoforo and Naglieri look good for Perth?
Oh, and talking about defenders .... ECU joondalup just signed a former Bolton defender, Charlie Comyn-Platt, only played a few games for Bolton and then has played for various teams in the lower divisions of england.
His only 23, has had decent experiences playing football in england, glory give him a trial, if he is a good player, could be a worthy canditate to be harnwell partner at centre back or even left back?

Weeks 1-7:
Velaphi; Neville-Harnwell-Craddock; Pellegrino-Srhoj-Davids-Burns-Denilson; Dadi-Sikora
Weeks 8-21: Drop Sikora to left midfield in place of Denilson and bring in some 18 year old African prodigy striker we've signed up front.

lol BTW I'd wish Batistuta would invest, become Chief Scout, Director of Football, Club Ambassador or something like that! The connections Batistuta would have, to South American and Europe, he'd be massive for our club, obviously.
How can we have a legend such as he living in our lovely city and not being involved? Though I understand he wanted some time away from Football. Though TBH, is he even still in Perth?
