I just wanted to say, as a neutral, I am very much enjoying the goings on at Perth Glory. Very entertaining, please never change.

It seems as the only NSL club of significance still playing at a national level (at least until the FFA Cup kicks off) we've taken it upon ourselves to inject as much NSL-standard drama as we can into the HAL.

Some may find this difficult to believe, but I used to rail against - very hard against - this line of thinking. I thought you supported the club through thick and thin, no matter what.

But in the last two years I've realised that the above is completely correct. Glory's not in my blood, as it might have been if I was brought up in the UK, and I have plenty of other pursuits I could spend my time on and other sports (or football leagues) I could watch. Thus it's a business and if the business pushes their customer too far, they lose them. Far from being a promoter, you become neutral, then you become an outright detractor. And that's where I'm at for the moment unfortunately, with precious little that can bring me back besides high-level change.

For me it comes down to 1 question - why have I *ever* loved Perth Glory?

The answer is because I believe in Western Australian football and I enjoy having a team based in my home town able to compete with the best in the country (if I was dreaming big, the rest of the world).

Since Glory no longer represent WA football's interests nor do they provide a nationally competitive side that I enjoy watching play the sport, there's nothing to love. I *want* Perth and WA to have a club as the pinnacle of the game in this state, but the current Perth Glory organisation from top to bottom only represents those who are within the club.

Ironically, both the Australian football and cricket sides lately have suffered from being representative only of those within the teams themselves rather than the people the team exists to represent i.e. the Australian public. A broom and a new coach seems to have gone 90% of the way towards fixing that, but first and foremost it took the powers in charge to acknowledge that the inwards looking was harmful to both the image and the performance of the teams...

Tony Sage's attitude to running the club is a lose-lose and is a slow road to death for the club.

I think Glory fans need to accept that, in its current state, Perth Glory is merely a business owned by Tony Sage and we are its consumers. We are not treated as anything more than that.

If you are a consumer of any other product and are dissatisfied with the quality, you may complain but that's highly unlikely to change anything. The only power you have left is to stop purchasing that product. Then and only then will the message get through that what is going on at the club is not good enough.

The first problem is that football fans often have a misguided view that a club is about its fans... well that might be true for some clubs that are either run by people with genuine respect for fans or where fans have a direct say in the running of the clubs. It simply isn't true of Perth Glory. If you've been a member since 1996, if you never miss a game, if you're a member of a fan club, if you're an ex-player, it doesn't matter... you're still just a customer to this club.

The second problem is that when Tony Sage took over, the club was already in a dire state. Therefore... the core group of fans that will never give up on the club were already the majority of fans at games, so to Tony Sage the club has not necessarily gone backwards under his watch. Indeed... it probably hasn't gone backwards, but it has so much potential to grow that it is heartbreaking for most in the WA football community to see it dwelling in such disgrace for such a long period of time.

If you want change, stop going to games. Go watch state league football instead. Show the FFA and any potential owners of a football club in Perth that there is a passionate and sizeable football community in this state that will brilliantly support a well-run and respectable A-League club in WA, but won't stand for the rubbish that we've had to put up with for almost a decade now.

Terrific posts. My thoughts during the Edwards/Burns issue were that the club would sack Edwards and if they did that I would not be able to support the club any longer. Not because I necessarily supported Edwards, but because it was the wrong decision. This was compounded by Sage not taking any responsibility for allowing Edwards to make a poor decision and sign his sons. Since then I've been to 2 games, one because I got a free ticket, and the other was so I could take my kids and go with a mate. But I'm not interested any longer, I feel nothing when they lose, where as before it would annoy me or even upset me.

Why did I love this club? Well I was 15 when the club came into existence and met inaugural player Dale Wingnell at a training camp the year before the season started. I had newspaper clipping of the team on my wall at home and living in the country was unable to get to any games so I relished the opportunity when I moved to Perth for uni. But this club is just a shambles and you are right, we are a consumer. Unfortunately the product is a turd.

It's all OK guys, nothing to worry about...............

Glory not in crisis: Jamieson

I'm waiting for the next club mouth piece to make a statement that all is OK and 6 games without a win and sitting in 9th place is just dandy.

And herein lies the reason that football clubs can get away with any standard of staggering incompetence... the expectation that fans should support the club no matter what.

Why should I support players that are clearly playing for themselves, their cliques within the squad and their own futures... coaches who are on short-term contracts and just trying to get a gig for next season... and management that expects my unconditional support even as it runs the club into the ground?

The most notable thing with Jamieson's TV interview was not what he said, but the fact that it was him, and not one of the regulars currently playing.
And our captain has now been quite absent from fronting the media and giving his two bobs worth at every available opportunity.

Well Burns did speak out last week (yes, pre-Biff with RE), so not that camera-shy.

See, that's why Vuka's words post match were at least refreshing. Sure, he didn't *know* what was wrong, but at least he admitted a problem was there. Sage/Jamo's denial and that nothing is wrong bar the results is just laughable.

Sage says the bust-up between Ord and Gallas is a good thing, because it shows Gallas has passion and cares about the club! What a pity Burns/Edwards didn't show the same thing!

Welp, can't deny that. Just saw Gallas' cockup on the ESPN FC Press Pass bloopers segment
