PerthRed wrote:Regarding The DDS 'saga', I don't think it's fair to say the club thinks he's 'not good enough for a league level'. The kid maybe 17 but he has The build of a 14yo. He would just be getting hacked every week so I agree that he needs to be carefully managed (keeping in mind he has had injury troubles this season).
If it is true that he gets loaned back next season one would hope he is playing a bit more regularly. We all knew he was leaving when he turned 18 so what harm is it if he gets his overseas deal sorted now while we have absolutely nothing to play for?? The important thing is that transfer fee isn't wasted... Matt Davies is a tiny tot too and he does ok. No one is saying we should be starting DDS week in week out. But they are saying give him some minutes more regularly. He'll get hacked through his career, so you can't protect him forever. Put him on later in a game when the pace is less intense and see what he can do. Luka Modric went to the Bosnian league as a 17/18yo and claims that that taught him how to play in a physical league with a stature like his. Described by Wenger as too small for the EPL, he went to Tottenham and was fantastic. As for playing him in a losing side, well what are they doing playing all the other kids then? Or is this just justification for their import/journeyman/old boys club/ "can't win nuthin with kids" approach again next season?

I know the Perth Glory guy who does the social media is meant to be 19 or whatever, but I'm that old and I know that's not on. Not the first time he's slipped up either.

Former Glory players Todd Harnwell (NSL), Scott Bulloch, and Reece Vittiglia lined up for the home side, the latter grabbing a goal. Entertaining game which ended 5-3 to Perth; ridiculously good value for $10, certainly above anything I've seen from Glory this year bar maybe the Welly game. Vittiglia. Another one Glory couldn't be bothered to develop. Alex Caniglia is still doing well in the NPL too. No idea what's happened to Andy Higgins.

I just glanced at the line up for Perth during the foxsports coverage of the Heart and CCM game...did anyone else see that? Did I see correctly? 442 with Marinkovic and Mclarren at front?

Those lineups are not worth the pixels they're printed on.

Also don't see anything wrong with the world class diving one.

A few weeks ago a performance (and presser) like yesterday's would have induced a Wolverine-like rage in myself, rendering me capable of smashing several pieces of furniture into tiny, tiny pieces.
Now I'm just in a wonderful, peaceful oasis of not caring. If I'm bored and the dog doesn't feel like going for a walk, maybe I'll still make our last couple of games to give myself something to do.

I wonder if they even realise the danger they're in. A lot of sports followers in WA are multi-code, and we have: AFL - Fremantle and West Coast in 1st and 2nd place after delivering big performances. Basketball - Wildcats, *28th* straight finals campaign, minor premiers, short odds favourites for the campionship Rugby Union - Western Force suddenly looking like they're not the sad-sack oval ball equivalent to Glory, three in a row, knocking off champs and getting media momentum with the Honey Badger, picked up an 7k turnaround in their crowd between home games. We are bleeding support to other teams through this toxic mixture of being ludicrously terrible yet seemingly not giving a damn. But I know what you mean about the peaceful oasis. I saw 3-0 result, shrugged, showed the wife, said "oh well" and just moved on with my day. I sure as hell didn't bother watching it.

Speaking of whom, maybe has to do something with his time, as did not make it onto the subs bench this week, as his J League team went down 4 - Nil, still with the 74kg goalkeeper throwing his weight around to hold down #1 spot.

Add me to the list. For some weeks there has been talk of staying at the pub rather than wandering down to the ground. But 2 games to go, and 2 more dress-ups to complete my aim for the season. Have not seen or heard Kenny post game, but expect he didn't blame the kids this week. Maybe because he got in early Friday/Saturday in the papers telling everyone how inexperienced this week's team would be, how they'll all learn this week - and probably conceded there and then. Me thinks that with Thwaites, Gallas, Burns and Griffiths all lining up, it's not as bad as he makes out - and Gallas was certainly watching each goal with interest as each went into the net. And what difference will the 'mathematically impossible' now make to his team selection?

My beloved football club is being destroyed right in front of my eyes ok we may not have the players or the coach to do any better and the hiarachy have made a lot of errors going forward but surly they can see what has been hapening since Lowe has taken over is just not good enough for this league i would love to hear from them asap and let us know if they are happy to play for wooden spoons or say yes we are not to far of sighning a proven coach they must let the members know now not just take us for granted or they may live to regret thier disisions .

Exactly the same as me, didn't watch the game first one all year, haven't watched the highlights. Just don't care.. People are disengaging with the club. As a member for nearly 15years never felt this way, still unsure if I will rejoin.

This is a genuine issue for me... I was once proud to think that Perth Glory had a history from before all the other A-League clubs existed. I was proud of what had been achieved by teams wearing the purple-and-orange and uniting so many football fans from so many different backgrounds within WA. Now I see a club that seems to be completely unrepresentative of this history and in fact could be considered a stain upon all that went into building the club. With the other sports teams in Perth (add our Big Bash League winning Scorchers and Sheffield Shield finalist Warriors to the list along with a Rugby League team still potentially in the pipeline) Perth Glory are no longer harming just themselves and their fans... they are harming the game of football in this state. I am now at a point where I'd be willing to sacrifice our history and the legacy of those great players from our past for the sake of creating a new, sustainable and well-run club to represent West Australian football at a time when a considerable amount of talent is coming out of our state. 5 years ago if you'd suggested a Perth Utd team wearing black-and-gold was the way forward I would've shouted you down... today I'd be on board for the change.
