That is seriously dull and disappointing

He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

Looks a bit cheap, personally I’d like to see more orange in the home kit to differentiate with the Dockers.

Also the white away kits that every side in the a-league use are boring. We could have an orange or black and gold away kit.

How many dudes use white as an away kit now though? Very few isn’t it??

Most clubs still use white unfortunately. Perth, Adelaide, Victory, Sydney, WSW, Newy and the Nix all had white away kits last season while CCM had a white third kit.

Any news on Spiranovic and Djulbic? Getting frustrating, expecially with Spiranovic. If he doesn't want to play for us then I'm not sure I really want him back

Djulbic i wouldn't want back anyway. Should retire at this point I think. Spira doesn't seem like he's coming back. He was only ever on a one year contract so doesn't owe us anything at this point. I assume he's G O N E. Although the longer we wait the more hopeful i become...with most competitions starting i think it's becoming more likely he'll play in the a-league. Would be very frustrated if he came back but not to us though. Especially since he spent half of last season nursing himself back to full strength.

Mcrella, Grant, Tratt, Wilson and Osama. Stocks for CB don't seem too bad. Wilson has been converted to CB which I have been shouting for...so silverlining. Much prefer to see Wilson play and develop at CB than see Dino there. Losing Lowry was a massive blow as well...if we don't get Spira back we should be on the lookout for a leftsided CB to compete/back up Grant.

They should go for an overall colour change this season. A DARKER PURPLE would be nice to advertise glory in the ACL

This is too light, Perhaps even make the orange a few shades darker also.

Perth Glory is delighted to confirm that BHP will be the club’s new principal partner for the 2019/20 season.

One of the world’s leading resources companies, BHP extract and process minerals, oil and gas and employ more than 72,000 staff and contractors, primarily in Australia and the Americas.

It is a major force within the Western Australia resources sector, notably through its Iron Ore assets, which include an integrated system of five mines and four processing hubs based in Newman, Yandi, Mining Area C and Jimbelar.

The company’s logo will feature on the front of Perth Glory’s Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League shirts and all training apparel this season and club Chief Executive Officer Tony Pignata believes that the partnership is a hugely significant one.

"BHP is a global powerhouse in the resources field and its Western Australian operations play a key role in driving the State and National economy," he said.

"We are therefore extremely proud to have partnered with them and look forward to their logo being front and centre on our Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League shirts as both teams look to build upon last season’s success in their respective competitions."

BHP WA Iron Ore Asset President Edgar Basto, meanwhile, feels that the two organisations share a number of common values.

"BHP values the contribution Perth Glory makes to the people of WA," he said.

"Our partnership is underpinned by a mutual commitment to achieve outstanding results and greater inclusion and diversity and we believe this approach has a positive impact on our organisations and the broader community.

"Our Company and culture is shaped by the many people from diverse cultures and backgrounds around the globe who call Western Australia home, so we think it makes sense to sponsor one of our State’s must successful and diverse sporting teams.

"Throughout the years, Perth Glory FC has #SetTheBar for football in Australia and we wish both their Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League teams every success in the 2019/20 season."

Glory will sport the BHP logo for the first time in Sunday's season-opener against Brisbane Roar at HBF Park (kick off at 3pm).

If you simply looked at global superstar Sam Kerr, you would think women's soccer in Western Australia was going better than ever.

But the reality is, Kerr was the last WA player to debut for the Matildas, Australia's national women's soccer team.

It has been 10 years since she made her breakthrough as a 15-year-old against Italy back in 2009.

The drought has occurred despite the success of the Matildas, as well as a continued surge in participation.

Football West figures show there are almost 40,000 female players in the state, an increase of nearly 40 per cent over the period from 2016 to 2018.

That is staggering growth. So why isn't WA producing more national representatives?

A disjointed pathway with no NPL
Many are blaming the lack of a cohesive pathway from juniors to seniors and a disconnect between the local league and W-League side Perth Glory.

In Western Australia, there is no women's National Premier League like in some other states.

The NPL is a structured second-tier competition that sits beneath the W-League and A-League.

So the absence of the NPL in the west makes the system for female players in WA disjointed.

There are strong senior clubs with no junior pathways and a lot of good junior clubs that have no senior team.

Leadership from the governing body is needed to bring all the different groups together, but so far that has proved difficult, according to Conrad McKelvie, who has been a member of Football West's women's standing committee.

"The reality is even if we start moving towards that, it is going to probably be five years down the track before we are at a situation where clubs are at a level where they can even be considered in the same breath as the eastern states NPL programs," he said.

Right now, a girl cannot join the game and play at the same club all the way though to the senior team.

Football Federation Australia ultimately wants a women's NPL in all states, but right now WA is falling behind — and it is to the detriment of the sport.

AFL teams 'full of ex-soccer players'
There is another major challenge. While soccer has always been a strong drawcard for women without being well organised, but now there are increasing options for talented female athletes.

"Top players from the league are going to AFL instead because the opportunities and the standards are better at the moment," McKelvie said.

"You have got players who have played premier league here [in Perth] who have had no look in at the Glory, who have now gone to play for the Fremantle Dockers or the West Coast Eagles team.

"Those teams are full of ex-soccer players."

A lot is also hinging on the proposed high performance state football centre, earmarked for Maniana Park in the southern Perth suburb of Queens Park, which is still waiting on funding approval from the WA Government.

The timeline remains uncertain despite a $16 million election commitment by the Commonwealth Government.

Politicians in suits stand in front of cameras and children in a football field
PHOTO: The Morrison Government has pledged $16 million towards the establishment of a state football centre in Queens Park. (Supplied: Football West)
"If we had the money of course we would build it and other community sport-supporting infrastructure," WA Sport and Recreation Minister Mick Murray said in a statement.

"But the reality is that the budget position makes a state contribution very difficult.

"We are currently engaging with the Commonwealth Government to understand the arrangements surrounding its election commitment."

In the meantime, women's soccer in Western Australia is stalling, as other codes circle their best talent.

I hadn't realised Fornaroli got his Australian citizenship as early as 2017. I thought he was taking up a foreigner spot but apparently not. Does he qualify as an Australian for ACL as well?

I'm not surprised. They guy wasn't getting any game time.

I wouldn't be surprised if he goes to another HAL club. League's One and Two could be an option as well.
