Thats grim Busby, sorry to hear it mate. I've never had a dog but my cat is at least 15 years old and I say at least because she showed up 15 years ago and never left, no idea how old she was at the time then. But at that age she hasn't really lost any vitality, granted cats spend alot of time lounging anyway but she still chases things and climbs trees as well as she did 15 years ago.

If it's any pain, put it down

Yeh the arthritis is the thing that we worry about her being in pain. The vet said the brain disease doesn't have her in any pain but who knows.
She seems to be happy enough but if it gets to the stage where we have to carry her to the toilet every night. We don't mind doing that but I don't think it is fair on her. It might just be she has been struggling with the doggy door lately.

There's a treatment for arthritis, but it's about $100 a month, dunno if that's worth it for a dog that's that old.

That's the thing, she is so old and is on a lot of medication for her epilepsy, incontinence and her kidneys. She still acts like a puppy but we have to be honest and accept she doesn't have long left. So yeh, I don't think we will be giving her any other medication just not worth it.

It's tough, but I'd say that with the epilepsy, incontinence, renal problems, arthritis and Vestibular problems it sounds like it's only a matter of time before she has an accident and it's probably time to let her go.

Just don't cling to the hope that she'll suddenly get better.

WGMG: My uncle. Today he kicked me and my girlfriend out. We have two weeks to pack our shit and leave. He said that neither of us were looking hard enough for work (bullshit, he knows full well that we both haven't been in the house because we've been searching), and when told about this, said that we're making things awkward for the women he brings in.
Now this wouldn't be a problem, but when you factor these things in. 1. Together me and my girlfriend have a grand total of 60 dollars and a few loose coinage. 2. I don't know ANYONE in the city other than my uncle, as my grandparents that lived here when I was a child have passed on, and my aunt and other uncle have moved to Perth. 3. We're NZ citizens so we can't get too much from centrelink 4. My uncle decided to be extra snobby and hit me with a 150 rent tax thing out of nowhere.
So the prospect of being homeless is not one I enjoy right now. Are you able to borrow money (off friends or something) to get home?

Maybe you're not that smart if you wish you were dumber.
Having intelligence shouldn't be a social stigma. I cringe at a society where stupidity is cool. Smarts and Intellect shouldn't make you a social leper.

I realise it doesn't make sense. Trust me, I know. I'm not a genius but I went to Performing Arts schools my entire life and the people there aren't the sharpest (to put it kindly). I was the go-to guy for almost everything academic, not just in my year but the years above me too. It made me stand out - but it wasn't a problem. Own the fact that you're smarter (if you are, otherwise you look stuckup and nobody will like you)

I've always been teased for being good at maths, I hate it. Not many people like me much anyway, so I don't really have that to worry about.

Im probably not the best to give advice as ive been known to shoot the odd dog but my little australian terrier cross jack russel made it to 17 before the old man finally had to have him put down. Poor old bugger just got a look in his eyes and you knew it was time. My pure bred jack russel has just gone 17 and she still goes for a walk every morning with the old man and the other dogs even though she is blind and def. I went for a walk with them around xmas time and had to carry her half way home   She's still plenty happy but would be lucky if she's got 12 months in her. Our dogs have never really spent too much time at vets and the like. Just have their standard needles and wormings and they seem to live for ever. Got another one that is 15 atm

This is what I love about uni, my mates are all around the dame level of intelligence pretty much and we all get along like a house on fire. I was always one of the smartest amongst the group of friends I had at high school but I can't say I ever felt like I stood out or should hide that, you realize once you get older and progress through school that there is nothing cool about stupidity or feigning it.

WGMG: People who do 10 reps on the machines at the gym and then just sit there for 20 minutes WAGMG: People who do 5kg weights on the machines. Seriously how did they even open the door?

Quote:WGMG: People who do 10 reps on the machines at the gym and then just sit there for 20 minutes This is why 24 hour gyms are awesome. Go in there at 11pm when it's quiet and you get the place (almost) to yourself
