There's no such thing as being "more valid" than someone else - it's not a competition. And I know it's stupid, hence why I don't do it.

I think this is is the circumstance that disproves the "validation" theory. I can't think of a less valid reason to cut yourself than your celebrity idol smoking pot.

I'm pretty sure if this is enough to drive you to self harm you weren't too far from doing it anyway.

12-16 year old teenie bopper girls aren't exactly the image that we associate with people who cut themselves :lol: I think it's more a case of them being THAT conformist that they'll do whatever they're told as long as it's the "trend".

To be fair, I'm with Afro on the Cutting4Bieber thing, but Kiwichick on the not everyone who cuts is out to seek attention.

When I was younger and cutting myself, it was more to pass the time or distract myself than anything else. If I was seeking attention I'd have gone to school those days without wearing jackets or sleved undershirts. I hated it when people found out (which is part of what made me stop).

I've only ever cut myself once or twice years and years ago, but I learnt my lesson pretty quickly*

The cut for Bieber thing makes me incredibly sad, not for the sheer fact little girls are cutting themselves as a fad, but that society has descended to such a low point that a joke campaign has just been swallowed up mindlessly in the same way the hysteria over his music has. The kid is having a few pulls on a spliff something an incredible amount of musicians and actors do regularly, he's not retiring prematurely, or announcing he's gay, or even that he's getting married, he was just photographed with a joint for fucks sake.

You'd never see (straight) guys doing this, I think Cheryl Cole is ridiculously fit, that doesn't mean I pretend her music isn't shit and go crazy for her, blokes will fire up a quick google image search and get access to a box of tissues, much more simple and discreet that way.

Next time it's just you two, chuck a movie in and stick some fake moustaches onto the tv. Whenever a moustache lines up on someones face, take a drink. You can put as many moustaches on as you want, the more you put on, the better the game is.
