Went to watch Thor the other day. My cousin paid $16 dollars for popcorn and a coke. To be fair she got the Thor hammer cup, but even then, it was only $1.00 more than to get a normal cup.

No. Threatening to go to the Ombudsman is the WORST thing you can do. The Ombudsman takes months to get action out of and by then they've fucked you six ways to sunday.

No, if you find yourself on the raw end of the deal with a telco the best way to deal with the telecoms is to familiarise yourself with your contract/agreement and accuse them of breaking the contract as it stood. The call-center lackey will tell you that everything is as it should be and that he has no power so you ask to speak to his supervisor, he'll say the same thing so ask to speak to his manager. Re-state your contention that they've broken the contract and why and generally if you've got half a leg to stand on the manager will sort out any problems that you have.

Got to disagree on this one. Going to the ombudsman can cost them a hell of a lot of money. imply getting to mediation stage can cost a few grand minimum. If you are speaking to a decent supervisor and let them know you will mention their name personally in an ombudsman compliant it tends to be very effective.

Threatening to go to the ombudsman is the equivalent of kids going "I'm going to tell mum on you!" I've found from personal experience that they really don't care about the Ombudsman and they'll usually find a way to counter with the accusation that you've broken the contract by going to the ombudsman, unless you make the suggestion first.

Add to this the ombudsman wont help unless you've already lodged a complaint with the company and they haven't dealt with it adequately, which isn't the case here.
