Easier said than done of course thejollyvic, but a move somewhere else is probably what you need to do. Some places just take people for granted.

Long story short. I found the perfect girl. I finally told this girl i like her. She said she likes me too. We're both from different backgrounds. I'm muslim, she's not. Her father wants her to be with a specific type of guy and my family want me to be with a specific type of girl. She also had some things change in her life drastically after we told each other how we felt, and it kind of made it difficult for her to say yes to a relationship. We both have feelings for each other but have to put them aside.

Her family is just as bad except they're letting (presumably) 2000 + year old texts dictate how she should live her life.

Those 2000+ year old texts are actually a lot more valid than many of the Government texts and policies of today.

And that is well and truly proven.

What really grinds my gears was going to Church on Good Friday and during the Epitaph procession I was looking over my shoulder at every vehicle passing by.

I am in solidarity with my Coptic Orthodox and Yazidi Brothers and Sisters.

It's up to the astute to heed the peril that awaits.

Well it's not a rule in Islam that a muslim can't marry a non-muslim. I've even been to a mosque to witness a ceremony between a Muslim and a Catholic.

What a load of shit McJules.  Why don't you clarify that by saying 'depending on the devoutness of the adherents' and then your statement may make some sense.

This is not an discussion about the principles of Islam or Christianity but the inanity of allowing a set of beliefs laid down well over a thousand years ago based on nothing more than the suspension of evidence to dictate how you should live your life today.

You are far smarter than the poor argument you are running in some misguided attempt to stick up for a non-existent attack on Islam.

You would well know, and you are disingenuous to ignore it, that interfaith marriage between devout Jews and Moslems (to pick just two) would be very few and far between.  The likely outcome would be excommunication from your religion and exile from your family.

What you don't realise Aikhme is that you and I are both atheists.  I just believe in one less God than you.

Not sure I get you. You mention an Ancient Greek word representing the tip of Apollo's trident too. Where did someone like you develop a liking for the Greek Classics?

No issue with you being Atheist. What you don't realize is that you probably won't be for your entire life.

And Atheists make me laugh. They are so certain. Are you arrogant enough to be so certain or are you agnostic?

I'm headed to the Middle East next year. You should join me. If only to expand your narrow mindedness.

In my opinion, there is no such thing as Atheists. Those who call themselves Atheists without knowing anything about it, are just wannabe Atheists. A true Atheist has walked the holy land and then decided from an informed position that they are Atheists.

They are wannabe Atheists because it sounds so cool. they don't want to believe in a higher authority. They will tell you they are strong because they don't need it like those who believe but as a matter of fact, they are the exact opposite.

It's the Christians who are strong. In the beginning, they were fed to lions, and now they are experiencing a holocaust in the Middle East.

Even in the West, we are coming full circle and calling for the ridicule of Christian people. Not allowed for Muslims though.

Here's a wiki entry to a list of over 4000 gods.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lists_of_deities

None of which I believe in. (And thousands upon thousands that you don't either.)

I happen to believe in 1 less god than you do.  Your God.

You are an atheist for at least 3999 gods.  I've just gone tiny, itty bitty step further than you.

You missed the point too.

You don't have one when you cite over 4000 imaginary Gods. In fact, you should have a sit down and relax a little bit. take a few deep breaths!

You can behave like a child and post memes if you like (there must be billions of them) but that is all you got. You are not taking an informed or enlightened position so I scoff at your so called and non genuine Atheism. I would say you are ignorant, but certainly not Atheist. An Atheist in my opinion those who have seen, studied, and dismissed.

The Church is now 2000 years old. You and I are insignificant to the mysticism and power, none of which you have seen or experienced and yet you call yourself an "atheist". See it first, then call it voodoo or black magic if you like, and be an Atheist rather then navigate this issue blind as you do, like the chester's clown.

All I read from you obfuscation and weasel words because you have no argument against him. There are thousands of other gods you don't believe in, but instead of attempting to argue this point you go on some tangent about him not being a real atheist or some bullshit. Then throw in the classic "god works in mysterious ways which is why 3 year olds get bone cancer", pretty pathetic.

No they're not thousands of other Gods. that is a huge furvy.

Sure there are thousands of Gods if you count all the Ancient Mythical Gods.

But there is one thing Christianity, Judaism, and Islam agree on 100%. They believe in the same God as a matter of fact. Yes it isn't 3 Gods, but one.

If there are thousands of other Gods, then name them please without getting into mythology. There really is nothing to address until you name them.

There may be some American Evangelical cults and Scientology and so forth, but I am not going to get into that. these are modernist incarnations of various things in order to deceive and manipulate people for money and power. Nor can you change someone's mind. Much easier to let them believe what they want, even in fairies if that is what they want to do. It is really up to the individual to look into it and learn about it.

Even easier to let Atheists be. but no one is truly an Atheist until they know what they are talking about no matter what their bluster, they can only say that God doesn't exist in words but as a matter of fact they have no clue and are foolish in their absolutism.

And no, I never went on any tangents or said "God works in mysterious ways". I said that I have witnessed the unexplainable and the miraculous and the mysterious. You may call it voodoo, but if you see it with your own eyes, you may not be so flippant. I have seen stuff that is virtually impossible in this world.

I am a person who has cheated death. I should not be here today. And I know why.

Name all the gods, except for all of them. What the actual fuck hahaha.  The Abrahamic religions are ancient mythology as well with many parts coming from varying mythologies.

No they are not. That is your wishful thinking. You have subscribed to the belief that no God exists, and as a result, all religions are mythical.

And at the same time, you haven't looked into it because it's too hard to do so. You just want the easy option and hope you're right. You've convinced yourself that you're right. You say that there is no God 100%.

it's very flippant of you, and arrogant at the same time, and all you can do is make a one liner dismissive post. But you have virtually zero knowledge on the subject, probably haven't looked into it or studied it. You've probably not visited any Churches in a long time or talked to anyone and you haven't been to Mount Athos, The Sinai, Jerusalem, or the Meteora to witness things like the holy flame and fountains which cure cancer, or venomous snakes in baby cots. Or the icon that bleeds and blinds (stigmata) the sinner (all of us) when you gaze at it. The icon that would blind all Governments, Kings, Queens, Bishops, Popes, and Priests as well, and even monks unless you are without sin.

The entire old testament is mythology with most Christians agreeing the case.  I was raised a Christian and my girlfriend is a practicing Catholic so throw that attitude out the window.  There have been numerous investigations in to the "Holy Flame" from orthodox priests and people from outside the church.  Most believe it to be fradulent use of basic chemical reactions.  Fountains that cure cancer?  Are you trucking serious?  And yes, i have been to Jerusalem.  I am beginning to think you are a troll.

I wasn't talking about the Old Testament.

That is a text that is some 4000 years old, and it was written by man himself. Since then and some 2000 years later, we have had the arrival, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The old Testament is just seen as man's attempt at the pre-cursor.

Well you are so adamant that it is an Orthodox conspiracy, but why don't you go and witness it for yourself and with your own eyes? And why are the catholics incapable of this "chemical Reaction"? It seems to only occur during times of orthodox liturgy - the religion formed by the very Apostles or followers of Christ. It also occurs for the Copts, Yazidis, Russians, Serbs, Assyrians, Armenians, Greeks, and Christian Palestinians etc. Why?

Maybe the Orthodox are such great chemists.

Yes, fountains that actually cure cancer. but don't get any ideas, because they probably won't cure your cancer or mine. It will only work its miracle to the truly devout and that takes years if not decades to accomplish. I'm not there, as I too have my doubting Thomas thoughts, which is just not on according to the faith. You see, as christian, and as a believer, my thoughts are impure and often deviate from the path and even doubt the faith at times. I am nothing but a simple man and sinner. Unlike you who seems to think they know God doesn't exist. Just wow! Incredible!

Yes I am very serious. people have gone into remission, immediately after drinking from this fountain. not just one person but several hundreds if not thousands.

I'm stunned about people like you too.

It might be lost on the likes of you, but your comment is arrogant. You say you're stunned people like me exist. What people are they? Christians? Really? You are not a very smart person to say the least.

What's lost on you is your arrogance. You actually believe God doesn't exist, therefore, people like me must be deluded. How do you know? Why do you seem to think that you yourself is more powerful than God to be enlightened so about his existence?

Go take an IQ Test or switch the computer off and watch ABC for kids or something.

BTW, people like me will always exist. that's because we have a beautiful religion that is a force of good, helps people, and preaches love and respect.

Empty people will also exist.

He is a troll.  He's made a whole lot of base assumptions with no actual knowledge about any of the posters he is characterising as 'arrogant or 'ignorant' or some other rubbish.

It's exactly the kind of belief and assumptions without evidence that separates rational thinkers from those chained by the shackles of their collective mythologies.

I also like the 'distinction' he's making between 'mythical' gods and 'actual' gods.  Fucking hell.

As if, somehow, the beliefs of all the peoples who lived thousands of years ago in other cultures, in other parts of the world are less valid than ones started in the middle East.

The ultimate 'arrogance' is to believe 'your' god is the only one true god.  You really can't top that.

That's Mike Pence.

However, the Ancient Church teaches Biology and Evolution.

It's another furvy to taint all Christians with the same brush as hardcore American Evangelists.

I've made no assumptions. Just taken people's posts at face value including your own. Nor have I made absolutist claims.

And when I answer, it is on the premise of a whole bunch of assumptions made by so called Atheists who more often than not, don't even base their beliefs on any knowledge, but just wishful thinking. You have convinced yourselves that you are right, without consideration to the prospect that you may be wrong. Very few Atheists actually know what they are talking about. Those that do are in the minority. You should all do yourselves a favour and call yourselves Agnostics. that way there is no chance of making utter fools of yourselves, until you actually know what your talking about and earn the right to call yourselves Atheists. People who don't know what they are talking about do a lot to discredit Atheism.

And of course, Polytheism such as what was practiced in Ancient Greece, Rome, Egypt and Vikings etc are less valid than the religions of today such as Christianity and Islam. The latter 2 have considerable foundation in historical fact. Jesus and Mohammad existed, whilst Zeus, Venus, Hercules, Achilles are fairy tales. Classical History of course which has its place in philosophy without question and some of which lay the foundations of the Church Today as well as our current society.

Not only do they exist, Mike Pence, a bloke one heartbeat away from the American presidency and currently in Australia, believes creationism should be taught in schools.

Far out.

And the Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos, wants Creationism taught also.

Once again, that is a looney Evangelical American thing. The religious fanatics in the USA have what I call "Retail religion". Lots of hype and hoohah, not much substance and many ways to manipulate the vulnerable and make lots of money. it's an industry.

Don't tar all religions with the same brush.

OK, it's pretty pointless discussing this topic. It's not a simple topic either.

Before anyone gets any ideas, people are free to believe what the want. Just don't get all high and mighty about those who do.
