+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xSo the old school Coptics and co don't believe in Jesus? -PB even Jewish Festivals like the Passover. Bullshit It's not bullshit at all. The Copts have been celebrating the Passover since about 4000 odd years ago. It also marks the beginning of Lent and coincides with the Eastern Easter - not the Catholic Easter. We also, like the Jews, eat Matzah. We have co-existed with the jews for more than 10,000 years. And we have respected their observances too and believe them relevant. There is actually no such word as Easter in our language. we call it Passover (Pascha). We've been holding the Passover Festival or Pascha for thousands of years pre-dating Christ (BC) then as Pagans and Polytheists. so you celebrate Easter, not Passover No, to be 100% correct, it is actually Passover, not Easter. It's really the same festival that has been going on for thousands of years. To be more correct, we celebrate the resurrection of Christ and his defeat of Death since about 2000 years ago and that coincides with the passover and that is what we actually call it too. If you celebrated Passover it would be on Nisan 14 (Exodus 12:6) We still do kind off. So not 100%
We call Easter Pascha or Passover. If I call tomorrow Christmas, will I get presents ?Our Easter always coincides with a particular lunar cycle to coincide with the Passover. Passover can be on March 21 and Easter on April 25.And I am not talking about Exodus of the Jews. Well that's what Passover is, so 0% (or bullshit)
but the actual time of year which coincides with the sewing of crops in the Arid Climate we lived in. So Pagan Sun worship. Ishtar/Astare (Easter) worship is a Assyrian/Babylonian Fertility Ritual condemned by God. Hebrews specifically told over and over not to do that stuffThis is when we hold Pascha or Easter (if you prefer). I'd prefer that you realised they are totally different thingsIt is a ritual we have been observing for a very long time, since BC. We would sow crops, and by necessity we would have to fast (later this became a religious observance of lent) because we just simply ran out of wheat. Again Pagan, Where did you get the idea that is anyway Christian/Jewish from ?
the dates of our Pascha fully coincide with the Jewish Passover as observed by them. No they don't. Passover is a single day, and Easter week sometimes co-incide. they are no way linked. Do you link Hannukah and Christmas as well ?My heritage is actually Middle Eastern. I am from the Levant. We have co-existed with the Jews for thousands of years. So what ?If you believe the Bible, read it and do it. B You are completely Wrong. Orthodox, Eastern and Coptic Easter do not coincide with your Easter. it coincides with the Jewish Passover. it can be on March 21 or April 25. And of course it's not completely the same as Passover. Our Passover (Pascha) is an Ancient ritual which has some commonality to the rituals as practiced from BC. Our Pascha or Easter, isn't a completely Christian Ritual but has to do with the Festival of Fertility. In BC, we probably even sacrificed animals to a fertility god. Well that might not be correct entirely, but I think we did use to sacrifice lambs and eat them after Passover, same as the Jews did. We lived side by side with them for hundreds of years. our customs, and theirs rubbed off on each other and influenced our culture, religious observances, cuisine, music and language. And no, Passover as I have told you many times, is also about the changing of the season and sowing the crops and the fertility of the ground. Lent was adhered to since way before BC. We actually call our Easter Passover. Read about it here: http://www.antiochian.org/date-of-pascha.htmlwe actually have to wait until after the Jewish Passover for Orthodox Pascha which means Passover. it doesn't mean Easter. There are so many "Christian" rituals which are not really Christian. More accurate to call them traditions. Some of these traditions are Ancient BC traditions. You link to a story about the Pope and one of his Bishops deciding to ignore the Bible and make up their own festival. East and West Catholic still both follow 1700 year old bullshit, there is no difference If you believe the Bible, read it, do it. If you don't believe the Bible, stop pretending that you do. Of course we believe the Bible but it isn't the be all and end all. The Bible is still a fantastic piece of literature, and holds important philosophies, but our Church does actually evolve with the times. The bible is just that. It's a Holy Book. that said, everything written in it isn't suppose to be taken as gospel. you got to remember, the Bible was written by man. Some of it may have even been written by the disciples in its original format. then it has been republished. Some fanatical Christians say it is the word of God through his Son Jesus Christ. But that isn't true. It has been revised, edited and changed hundreds of times. Still a very great piece of literature, and holy as far as the Church's Canon's are concerned, but not the word of god. there are copies of the original document, or at least a very early version of it within our Church, safely preserved. If you get one of today's copies, it is different to this early version. Being Christian isn't about reading the Bible, despite what some people say. In fact, you don't even need to read it if you don't want to. Taking the document literally, is a mistake and that is a belief held by the clergy. It doesn't diminish its importance though. It is important. The Church has many traditions which are not Christian at all. In fact, these traditions pre-date Christianity even. Things like the Pascha, has its origins from BC, and it is connected with the Passover festival or changing of seasons. Another strange tradition the Church follows is leaving food outside for the dead spirits. We believe that when you die, your spirit remains in limbo from Christmas Day to the Epiphany of the 6th of January. Spirits are in effect in limbo. now, that might seem strange to some, but how many people believe in spirits of ghosts? lots do. We also believe you can contact and communicate with the spirits. people use Ouija Boards for this purpose. The Church contacts them all the time when we have wakes but these interactions are done in the presence of the Holy Ghost and are safe. It might seem far fetched to some, but I have communicated with spirits and felt a very strong presence. these things are pre christian rituals. They have evolved under Christianity to their present form. "you don't have to read it", Sure, your faith will get you into heaven. plus your Church leaders will be pleased as punch you don't read it as well, just keep doing a THEY say. Who told you we do what our Church leaders say? You're very naive. No one believes because the Church Leaders say so. No one reads the bible because Church Leaders say so. Church leaders know this to be correct 95% of the time. What you believe in is in your heart. That is the only thing that you need to remain true to. And if your heart and mind believes in God, and the Church, you don't need to justify yourself. Our Church is an Ancient one. The only pre-requisite is that you believe and live a good life. No one does what our Church Leaders tell us. Our Church leaders are Men among Equals. they can marry and have families (unless they are a Monk or Deacon). There is no special status afforded to anyone, or even a Leader. There is however, a Council of Bishops and an Archbishop for each precinct or area. Again a man among equals and certainly no Pope or person of higher status than anyone else. And the Church doesn't say your faith will get you into heaven. Faith isn't enough to get you there. You have to be the good person above all else. And we do not believe non believers will go to hell either. We don't believe in a God that would do that. You are talking about the catholic God maybe. We believe that God is all seeing into a man's heart, and if the heart is good, then it should be ok. but the judge of that is not the Church or Man. The concept of heaven was derived to make gullible sheeple stand in line and do what they're told........

Fuckin aye, I hate runny eggs, ruins the whole texture of the meal WGMG: The unnerving ability for slow, fat and old people to stop their sugar-loaded trollies right in front of the product I wish to purchase, and their even more unnerving ability to not notice they're in the way while they survey the broad choices of marshmallows on offer. +x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xI'm stunned people like you still exist Not only do they exist, Mike Pence, a bloke one heartbeat away from the American presidency and currently in Australia, believes creationism should be taught in schools. Far out. And the Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos, wants Creationism taught also. Once again, that is a looney Evangelical American thing. The religious fanatics in the USA have what I call "Retail religion". Lots of hype and hoohah, not much substance and many ways to manipulate the vulnerable and make lots of money. it's an industry. Don't tar all religions with the same brush. Abrahamic religions are very easy to tar with the same brush because there is literally a billion examples of stupid and ridiculous things they believe/say/do. Such as? When I say Ancient church, I mean the absolute original - Orthodox, Coptic, Eastern Church from the Eastern Roman Empire or Byzantium. We are separate to all others including the Catholics which we are not in communion with one bit, and we certainly not in communion with any of the other hundreds of loopy and fanatical Evangelists in the various forms. We are only in communion with the Anglicans of Church of England. it's the only religion we recognize. They don't say anything or do anything at an official capacity. You would say that, but when was the last time they have said anything? Few people know, contraception is legal and encouraged, evolution is taught, sex education is taught and many more things, but because others are more vocal, the stupidities are attributed to the eastern church which is NOT the case. Even abortion is allowed for rape victims. More than 10,000 women have been given abortions because they got raped by Islamic Fundamentalists over the decades. So don't tar all religions with the same brush. The eastern Church is an evolving beast and will never be in your face. Anyone who wants to be a part of it, will have to seek the Church out because of their heart's desire, not because we would sermonize or bible bash to them. Eugh another multi. Aikhme its so easy to see you when you talk about how superior your eastern religion is. Yawnnn..... As to the multi accusations - it is pretty obvious to the admins and mods that I am not a duplicate account. And I stand by that 100% Yeah, no possible way your IP address changed. We are assigned them from birth till death.

WGMG: Local association hasn't yet released the draw for this coming weekend. I've already got tickets for the A-league final but I want to know what time my game is so I can give my own team maximum notice on whether I'm available to play of not. Hopefully we are playing before 1pm so I can play and then run off to the final in time.

WGMG: So I work a casual job in hospitality, I really don't want to be working 38 hrs a week but we've been so badly understaffed for the last 5 months that I have to. On top of this I travel 5 hours a day for this job - mainly down to public transport being so unreliable - so I spend a lot of time sitting around waiting. Anyway for the past few months the people working in the morning just haven't been doing there jobs properly which makes everyday a fucking disaster and a chaotic mess. At least once a week someone will call in sick, there shift can't be covered so I've got to cover there workload for the day as well.
Due to working all these hours I've now been put in charge for a couple of shifts each week, which means I have to do the banking, supervise, paperwork, lock the store, etc. It's pretty frustrating as I haven't been properly trained and if I don't do something in a particular way I can get into some serious trouble.
In the past when its been a busy day I've forgone breaks/ taken shorter ones as I didn't want to be dick to the people I worked with, it's not fair to them to work 10 hrs barely get a 5 minute break while I get an hour break over the day. Yet when I'm in charge everyone takes the maximum break they can (yes I know they are doing what they are entitled to do) but it's just disappointing when people can see I won't get a break all day and have to stay back an hour or so after they've finished to close. (For all this extra bullshit I get an extra $6 a day:angry:)
On top of that due to people's availability silly things with the roster happen for eg. from this Wednesday I'm working 9 days straight ffs.
On Saturdays we only close with 2 people when you normally close with 3 due to how quiet the place is but they've rostered on the new girl to close with me.
I dunno everyone's always been great to me but maybe I have to request a week or two off (probably wouldn't be possible) so the place falls apart and they understand how good they've got it.

Oh I know that feeling. One's own reliability, attention to detail and professionalism is only recognised once you're absent. Upon returning and steadying the ship there's little or no appreciation. In the meantime it appears very few prospective employers would be thankful for having your services.

(For all this extra bullshit I get an extra $6 a day ) On top of that due to people's availability silly things with the roster happen for eg. from this Wednesday I'm working 9 days straight ffs. Just become a professional Fantasy AL player.

Unless you have prior arrangements i wouldn't be complaining. As BETH said though, speak to your boss and demand a day off each week, if he refuses, tell him to suck a fat one.

Oh I know that feeling. One's own reliability, attention to detail and professionalism is only recognised once you're absent. Upon returning and steadying the ship there's little or no appreciation. In the meantime it appears very few prospective employers would be thankful for having your services. Yep, he needs to make them realise he's the MVP and without him everything falls apart. Are you still on the same wages you were before all this RB?

@pv4: Glory Days! A shame Fox no longer offer any prizes now a days.
I probably shouldn't get so annoyed as its just a resume filler until I move into an actual 'career'.
I actually don't mind the job either as I'm pretty much left to do my own thing, I work with some great people and the pay is pretty good as well but christ some things really get to me.

+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xSo the old school Coptics and co don't believe in Jesus?
95% ?What you believe in is in your heart. That is the only thing that you need to remain true to. And if your heart and mind believes in God, and the Church, you don't need to justify yourself. Who told you that ? Church leader, or did you read it in the Bible ?Our Church is an Ancient one. The only pre-requisite is that you believe and live a good life. Who told you that ? Church leader, or did you read it in the Bible ?No one does what our Church Leaders tell us. Who told you that ? Church leader, or did you read it in the Bible ?
You have to be the good person above all else. And we do not believe non believers will go to hell either. Who told you that ? Church leader, or did you read it in the Bible ?
We don't believe in a God that would do that. You are talking about the catholic God maybe. We believe that God is all seeing into a man's heart, and if the heart is good, then it should be ok. Who told you that ? Church leader, or did you read it in the Bible ? but the judge of that is not the Church or Man. A variety of sources have told me that, not least also my own common sense. The word of Jesus Christ has been misrepresented throughout history. The Bible isn't a true depiction of his teachings. Some of it is and some isn't. Church leaders, at least in our Church, recognize this. all you need to do is look at one of the earliest forms of the bible and other documents which are nearly 2000 years old, and compare it to today's model. It is heavily revized and changed. Yes, being a christian is ALL about what is in your heart. It's what makes your soul tick. Are you a good person? Will you help out someone less fortunate than yourself? Are you a loving and faithful person? Do you share your riches? Do you treat people with respect? Are you a good person or a bad person. This is the most important criteria. There is a lot of misinformation about it. There are so many christian groups and sects and many actually give Christianity a bad name. Not least the catholic Church. Now people think that all Christians Religions sexually abuse people. Not true. this is a problem specific to one or 2 religions not Christianity as a whole. It's a technical issue within the Catholic Church and they are unwilling to address it. our religion believes that celibacy is unnatural, and that it can cause these things and effect the psychology of the person practicing it. which is why we do not endorse or practice celibacy. Being Christian isn't about reading the bible, or taking the words within it in the literal sense. Atheists take it literally and will still even take The Old Testament literally, a document which is 3500 years old. If we were to take these documents literally, then our church would border something akin to Islamic State fundamentalism. We would be beheading and burning at the stake all non believers. Yes it is extremely graphic book, especially the parts about The Apocalypse.

Who told you we do what our Church leaders say? You're very naive. No one believes because the Church Leaders say so. No one reads the bible because Church Leaders say so. Church leaders know this to be correct 95% of the time.
Church leader, or did you read it in the Bible ? but the judge of that is not the Church or Man. all you need to do is look at one of the earliest forms of the bible and other documents which are nearly 2000 years old, and compare it to today's model. It is heavily revized and changed. Why not read the originals and follow them then ?

+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xSo the old school Coptics and co don't believe in Jesus?
It is heavily revized and changed. Why not read the originals and follow them then ? We do follow them. But you can't make blanket applications to such a document. Saying that we must follow the Bible in its entirety is incredibly simplistic. Our religion actually evolves as we evolve. It is a religion founded by Man. Jesus Christ never told Man to make religions but to spread the word about the Holy spirit and that Death has been defeated. You must recognize the fact that the bible was authored by man and it is corrupted by Man. There are so many passages within it that our religion DOES NOT practice or even believe in anymore, and that we find abhorrent today. One example is an "eye for eye". "Eye for an eye" is Man's words and inferior to the Holy Spirit and God. It isn't something God through his Son, Jesus Christ condones or wants Man to practice. It is a Sin. And the biggest example is with the stoning of Mary Madeleine. Jesus Christ came and said, let he who is without Sin, throw the next stone. In other words, leave the poor woman alone and you the stone thrower, a sinner, shouldn't be doing this. It also teaches us to help people less fortunate than ourselves. So "eye for an eye" isn't the word of God as we have seen through his Son. And to extrapolate this into today's society, we do not believe in Capital Punishment (eye for an eye) by Man or State. Yes, throughout history, people have been killed in the name of religion, but again, that is Man using religion and the words of the Bible to commit heinous crimes against other individuals. But the same people forget the most important message which is to forgive, and to not judge your fellow man. This means, Christians should not judge non believers or Atheists as well. We are not God and we just don't have the right to mistreat people whether they are Christian or not.

Centrelink fucked up a clients pension for the first 6 months of his retirement and in the next 6 months he has a seizure, loses sight in both eyes and diagnosed with a brain tumour. Just spoke to his wife and he is now unable to communicate and it doesn't look like he live much longer. Such a nice guy. It's a shame he couldn't a few good years in his retirement.

He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.
