The whole Genius thing was a good idea though, but it's mainly for people who buy their music from iTunes.

It's only for people who get their music from itunes. It doesn't work with ripped music IIRC. And since I don't think that 128k music cuts the mustard, I don't buy off itunes (if at all) and hence have never used the genius function.

No, Genius works for any music you have. Or atleast, it works for my music, and I've never bought off Itunes.

It does work for any music, but it works better if you buy the music. It gives more accurate info.
