I agree, but after this year it won't matter with the school certificate gone and will be replaced by a different credential, which could recognise extra-curricular activities and will take into account a student's achievements at the time they leave, and not just in some exam they did a year earlier.

Yes, but you're not going to take on an apprentice who hasn't done their school certificate and can't prove that they know basic maths, are you?

Im sure they will bring something similar in though. In hind sight kids should just stay at school and get the job done.

Yeah they're raising the leaving age and realised that there's no point to it, especially now that the only way you'll be able to leave before you turn 17 is if you have a trade already lined up.

It's good that the State Govt finally realised how out-dated and useless it is.

No self-respecting prospective employer is going to hire anyone who drops out with just the school certificate anyway, the only real option is to get into a trade. There is no point to it, especially with the school leaving age being raised.

Probably why the killing it off next year. You see i dont go to a low "socio-economic" school, so it should be a breeze anyhow.
