My boss was a massive wanker towards me on Friday night. Left a bit of a sour note in my mouth towards him. Only having 3 staff behind the bar, and no glassy last night didn't help (2 bar staff as I was acting glassy). We had 5 Xmas party pub crawls come through from 8pm and we got slammed, then he blames me for not bringing in enough glasses off the floor, and we've got 200 plus people in the venue. It annoys me especially since he refuses to hire more staff. On a regular Fri/Sat night we run approx. 7 staff, 4 bar crew, 1 glassy, 2 managers (of which 1 runs the TAB/Pokies). On top of that he threatened to fire me for taking my birthday weekend off next week, even though I had written it down in the diary a good month earlier. Yes, I was the third person to put their name down, but it's not my fault he only does the rosters the week before. He's had the best part of a month to check the diary, and if he had a problem he could have rung me. Instead, he waits until Friday night, when I start work, then proceeds to lose his temper at me IN the bar, IN FRONT of customers waiting at the bar, leaving me feel heaps awkward and a bit upset. A few customers thought he was bang out of order too. Shit man, that sucks :( How come there were so few working?? Our glassy called up 30 minutes before his shift on both Friday and Saturday to call in sick, and my boss only keeps a skeleton crew on the weekends to save on costs. Before the takeover and renovation of the pub, we used to run 13 staff between two bars - inc. glassies - now that the upstairs bar is run separately, we only run a max of 6 staff not inc. the General Manager. Because my Boss is so reluctent to hire any new staff - he doesn't even have a "reserve roster" - a list with 3 or 4 names he can fall back on should any of us have to have a night off for whatver reason, it leaves us horribly short, and then when we get a night where we get slammed - e.g last night, we're on the back foot. It's annoying to say the least.

It's annoying to say the least. As a professional hospo worker, you should be able to handle that. Saturday night we had a 100-strong Santa-crawl come in. All Irish. I was the only person working in the bar at the time. You juts gotta keep it together and if anyone has a problem with how you're going about it, that's THEIR problem. WGMG: Was at one of my after-work bars Saturday night/Sunday morning. Smoking hot kiwi chick rocks in and we get to talking, as I'm about to hook in I get called back in to work. Had to settle for a phone number and facebook add. Fuming.

Victoria Uni (just the local one in Wellington), and I'm doing physics and psychology :) (well, that's assuming I actually passed my exams and they'll let me in). Not highly exciting stuff, I know, but I have no real direction for the future.

It's amazing, they make the enrolment ridiculously complicated and wordy for Australian students, and then really straightforward if you're a foreign based student. It's not that it's particularly wordy, it's just that I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to planning out my courses.

Thiswhole week coming up is shaping up to be a really good week. Had laser tag today, FIFA marathon on Wednesday, Heskey Time on Friday night, mate's 18th on Saturday and then running squad wind-up Sunday. I'm praying they don't want me to work Friday/Saturday night, although knowing my luck they will ask.

WAGMG: Flying from Wellington back to Blenheim with a hangover. At least the flight's only about 2 minutes long :P I imagine it would be worse taking the ferry when hungover.

The air is refreshing and if you need to spew you just munt over the side. AJohn wrote:WGMG: My hangover this morning. Fuck you people who don't get hungover. I hate you. People who "don't get hungover" don't drink enough. I had a friend who used to say that, I took him out one night. He called me up the next day and spent 10 minutes cursing me out for how messed up he was.

I get seasick even on a relatively calm day, so I'm not sure I'd find it all that great.

I don't vomit often so I would have prefered the ferry. Least then I could have had a lay down.
