From what I've heard its worse. They would use the stolen dog as training tool for their fighting dogs. So basically their stealing dogs to use as punching bags.

pv4 wrote:wgmg: my best mate's house was "tagged" by a dog-fighting organisation. basically a ribbon on his fence that says "there is a dog here, steal it at night". the world is a scary fxxxing place.
on the plus side, he's got 26k shares from his facebook post about it. facebook - stopping kony and dog-fighting. If you don't mind me asking, what suburb does your friend live in? You can PM if you'd prefer. Only reason I ask is because I have suspicions there's people like that around my area.

he lives in muswellbrook.
according to the guy in charge of it all, it's been a huge issue of late basically from Maitland/cessnock/etc all through to Tamworth. He said it's spreading spreading south into newy and the lake a bit more too. so basically anywhere is unsafe nowadays

Quote:they rang the cops straight away, after which they were put through to some higher-up in nsw police who is solely working on this whole dog-stealing/fighting situation. apparently, according to him, the different styles/colours of tags mean different things. the orange ones mean a big dog lives here, and there's other colours for other ranges of dogs. I've had a mate lost his German Sheppard to this. It's perplexingly common practice in some cities in america, I didn't think it would become an issue here. There's Orange, Blue, Green and Pink tags, (large to small dog) - keep an eye out for them guys. Quote:they're peaking atm - whenever one of them isn't home to look out for the dog, they take it over to their parents or get a friend to dog-sit or something. they have no idea how long to be scared, or whether they can ever feel comfortable and safe again in relation to it. shit's messed up I'd say if the tag is gone then the people coming back to collect won't know what they're looking for so they should be ok. But I could be wrong :?

The problem is it's a relatively small town, so in their heads they're thinking their place/dog will stay in the memory bank of the people who tagged it regardless of if the tag stayed on or not.
