Nah, I mean more like I had an order for a Cointreau, Soda and Lime tonight and it didn't go cloudy when I poured it. Someone's decanting the Triple Sec into the Cointreau bottle because it's cheaper and they hoped nobody would notice.

I've also been noticing the JD bottles in my speed rail aren't quite right so I tried setting a shot of JD on fire tonight. It didn't ignite despite the fact that JD is 80 proof. Someone's been watering down the JD to make it go further.

I know this is a regular practice amongst some bars out there but it pisses me off that I've encountered it and someone I work for would treat their customers like that.

The media are really blowing things up though, the front page of the paper this morning was "20 seconds of terror". FFS that doesn't help anyone at all. Personally I'm not bothered by earthquakes, and I know I'm in the minority for that, but it really doesn't help scaring people about it.

Nah. I haven't encountered that in my bar. I've been to plenty of bars - notably in the city, (Bar Century, Star Bar - I'm looking at you!) who I'm sure do it. Surely you go through a couple of bottles of JD a night. They'd be pretty hard to tamper with given they've got a seal on the lid.


I've never been in an earthquake, but if you were in a building that was shaking and trembling for 20 seconds, I'd say it was terrifying. The media are world class at making extravagant headlines, but natural disasters and the such would be terrifying for those in them.

WGMG: Had a shower and then went to walk the dog 15 minutes later. Got incredibly itchy skin whilst walking the dog. I have sensitive skin, so occasionally i get mildly itchy skin after a shower, but never this bad.

A lot of bars break the seal when they're re-stocking so that you don't have barbacks and bartenders struggling in a dark bar to get the seal off in the middle of serving someone.

Eh, not at my work anyway. Gotta admit thats annoying trying to crack seals on bottles when you're under the pump. Sparkling Wine bottles are worse, but our house Sparkling only in the last 2 weeks, we've been getting bottles with beer-style bottle caps. Looks derro as all hell, but it saves a shitload of time.

Willowglen actually have a bottle of sparkling wine with a screw-top. It's pretty handy.

There's actually a few premium sparklings that have bottle caps. La Zona's Prosecco springs to mind. It's not a good look though, you can't really open a $50 bottle of sparkling with a twirl of your bar blade :lol:
