WGMG: a few months ago I finally got to the point where I couldn't drink the Nescafe Blend coffee that work has supplied for free for 5 years, so I bought my own coffee & labelled it, hid it in the cupboard, and have been drinking that.
I walk into the kitchen this morning for a coffee and find that it's empty, when yesterday I left it with a good few cups worth left. I had also had my suspicions that people were drinking it without asking me.
I have no issue with sharing, etc. But only when people are willing to share back or at least be good guys about it. Not just sneakily downing my coffee, when it quite clearly isn't theirs, without even asking or talking to me, is just a bit of a shitty act IMO.
I love my morning coffees. They have ruined it for me.
The next coffee I buy will be going under lock and key.

You always hear about people stealing other people's lunches at work, or drinks from the fridge. Call me 'good guy Heineken', but I couldn't do that, not without at least asking first. Whilst I wouldn't be arguing with free coffee, if I wasn't approving of the coffee or whatever, and somebody was of the same mindset, I'd get t together and organize a a tin 20c a coffee, and when the coffee's run out the money in the tin would go towards buying a new jar of said coffee. What dicks. I feel you, morning coffee's are the most important part of the day.

I don't even mind if I paid for the tin of coffee each time myself - I just want people to be upfront about it rather than being obvious sneaks. I've never had my lunch eaten on me, but I have used the last remaining space in the fridge before & gotten to my lunch at lunch time to find that it had been moved onto the bench, non-refridgerated, so someone else could put their own lunch in my ones spot - that's happened multiple times.

Learn how to make an improvised explosive device/purchase a claymore landmine. Put it in front of your lunch. That'll teach 'em. Although you may be forced to fork out for a new lunch. And maybe a new kitchen at work. 8-[ However, if the worst comes to worst, there's plenty of kitchen designers in Liverpool wanting your business!!!  Win-win! Edited by Heineken: 19/3/2014 09:29:22 AM

The next coffee I buy will be going under lock and key. Always keep shit like that in your desk. Anything nice goes missing in a communal kitchen. Back when I was at Crown my mate would leave a can of red bull in the 'communal' fridge in the break room with a sticker with his name on it so people couldn't claim to be confused, it got to a point where people would peel the sticker off, stick it to the door and drink his red bull. WGMG: It was my boss' birthday at work last night. So after a pumping night when we're all exhausted we get slugged with the news that one of our regulars killed himself on Wednesday. We hadn't seen him for about 2 months and he came in on Tuesday night. When I saw him I exclaimed "You're alive!" I can't get those two words out of my head. He was a great guy. I know it sounds cliched but he was one of those intelligent, "larger than life" kinda guys who could strike up a conversation with literally anyone. It was a massive kick in the guts for all of us. I've been sitting here in a haze for the last hour and a half. It's the second time in less than a month I've lost a buddy. Guys, if you feel like you're drowning or getting snowed under please seek help. http://www.beyondblue.org.au/

Difficult to recognise: my wife told me tonight that her older brother has been diagnosed with depression and cannot be left alone ATM. He has had a chronic back issue which must be so hard to live with. Has required surgery and basically made him unable to work. Saw him last week at a family do with his two kids joking and laughing, I would not have even guessed it had got that low for him....

Saw him last week at a family do with his two kids joking and laughing, I would not have even guessed it had got that low for him.... My mate had just lost his court case against one of the train companies (I won't say which one but there's limited possibilities). He killed a guy with his train, after he returned to work from leave the train he was driving's breaks failed and they terminated him for 'not following safety procedure' with the train. The case was pretty rough on him. Rather than diagnosing him with PTSD they just hung him out to dry. He'd been selling off his possessions which was a pretty big warning sign. But when I asked him about it he gave the whole "zen" kind of response that he was trying to be more minimalist and not be governed by his possessions. In retrospect you notice so many things that could be interpreted as "warning signs" but there's no way that you'd even consider it ordinarily. It's only a "warning sign" once the context is there and by then it's too late.
