as far as i can see no changes to the Trademark since my last post (as per the ATMOSS online database) ](*,) ....no movement on any of the other proposed names either....think we're still gonna have to wait a couple of weeks till the FFA sort their s#!t out

Is there anything stopping them going with Melburnians???
It seems the most logical of the lot at this stage.

going by the logo submissions - It's Melbourne Heart, with Red and White as the colors.
Who'd have thought?
Not sure about the logo atm. Maybe it'll grow on my like the name!

Not too impressed with the logo. Surely someone could have came up with something better than that.
Edited by forbze: 1/2/2010 02:46:15 PM Tend to agree..but i spose it is what it is now....i kinda was hoping for something more in line with 'the bats' logo

the logo looks a bit '16 year old using wordart' but we'll see. also i was just thinking about crowd chants and the Rammstein song Links 2,3,4 came to my mind. It's (kind of) about heartbeats and i think it would make a great chant. It's got a march kind of vibe to it so it's almost perfect. if you haven't heard it check it out or here

I like the logos. I like the colours.
Sydney Rovers would do well to stick to a mostly black and white kit. That would make a nice mix.

Edited by forbze: 1/2/2010 02:51:07 PM sorry to drop a bombshell folks but the colors (red and white stripes) were decided prior to Melbourne Heart even being developed - the 2nd Melbourne team was always going to be red and white - this was the plan from 5 years ago The name Melbourne Heart was also already decided - regardless of any Herald sun poll results - (data base collection purposes only it seems) as for the logo...... did Sidwell not have a logo when he first made a bid for the 2nd licence??? what has happened to that???? On another note Heart was originally the name - then became a working title (to this day I do not understand the logic of a separate working title)and shortly appears to be the name again](*,) the strategy by the FFA is pretty pathetic - trying to create a perception of a waiting - hard thought out climatic anticipation - when in truth - everything has been pre arranged The whole concept is clearly not working an honest upfront re-proach would clearly be better too win new fans Edited by chris: 1/2/2010 04:03:20 PM

Does anybody care if the name was already chosen and the logo already chosen before being presented to the public? Doesn't that always happen anyway? Don't the team colours always get chosen before the public know about it?
Who cares about SMFC trolling?

Quote:In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response[1] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[2] my views are very much on topic - and not looking for emotions to flare up or provoke anyone the point I am making is this this thread is about the heart and the anticipation of every step it takes with its preperation My view is that everything (off field) has been pre arranged by the FFA therefore it is pointless getting excited about it Edited by chris: 1/2/2010 04:12:42 PM

You stated your point, and your sig doesn't bode well for you NOT trolling. So now that you have had your say step aside, let it go and let people who genuinely want to see success in the A-league discuss this topic.

Who cares about SMFC trolling? take it easy Con this teams colors and name were marketed as being chosen by the public - yet the were already pre arranged therefore my conclusion is this; the name and colors marketing strategy was for the sole purpose of data base creation purposes only - the outcome was never a factor

I didn't see Chris as trolling at all.
What he was stating is what most people know deep down anyway. Heart was a "working title" in name only. People got used to it, started to like it, then they did a "poll" with 3 average names alongside it so people would "choose" Heart and act as though they had a hand in it.
But its all because it was used for over a year as a working title and had marketing behind it already. No point in "changing" it now.
Red and white has also been discussed for ages and to be a cross town rival with Victory, it was the logical choice.
(and also why Rovers will be Red and black like Milan)

Don't the team colours always get chosen before the public know about it? The only issue here is that a poll has been run in a major publication, members of the general public have been encouraged to vote in said poll (leaving email details behind), and told that there are a selection of names in the running. The question is - why lie? Why not just tell us that this is the name? It's nothing to do with old vs new, or one club against another - it's to do with the principal of transparency. The same deal goes for the Sydney Rovers franchise - one party pulling out of the bidding, then suddenly being selected after they returned sans one member, with the selection being made, trade marks being lodged, etc., whilst other parties still believed that they were involved in negotiations.
