The word going around is that Hurstville Minotaurs are looking at the Luddenham coach to replace the general next season??

Strong rumour. I believe on $15,000 a season as well.

End of Round 13... Any surprises guys? Top 5 according to pre season predictions? I personally can't believe that the team running first has already conceded 25 goals in only 12 games!!!
Minimalistix - how do you know it's worth $15k???

First season will be $5000 if they get promoted to Division 1, then a further $5000 if they finish top 4 or $10,000 if they get promoted to Superleague. They're looking far into the future and think Luddenham's current coach can really do the job.

We are half way stage of the season... how time flies when your having fun. Or in our case with springwood, fun and frustrations esp after our game on sat night.. we should have won by 5.. oh well onto tuesday night we go.. if the rain holds out..

Season so far..
Best Team: Roosters, quality players. Luddenham very close
Worst Team: Gazy and Nepean
Surprise Packets: Chopin Park
Who will win: Luddenham

Top 5: Luddenham, Wanderers, Roosters, Springwood, Hakoah
Bottom 3: Gazy, Nepean, Belmore
Of the new teams: Nepean are rubbish, players have bad attitude and are just play dirty football. Northbridge have a solid squad, seem to have a good set-up. Chopin Park have already exceeded most peoples expectations, looking at the pre-season tips most tipped them to finish last.. they are now in the top 3. i think they will fall away and finish outside of the top 5.

Roosters FC v Belmore Hercules 2 - 1
Fairfield Wanderers FC v Bathurst 75 4 - 0
Luddenham United v Northbridge FC 0 - 3

sorry guys just having a guess, only feel confident with the springwood game as my mates play for springwood and they have already beaten chopin park in trial convincingly..

Early prediction is northbridge top 4 along with wanderers, hurstville and luddenham.

bottome 4 to include nepean, bathurst, hakoah and chopin park to bring up the rear and finish last..

Thoughts?

i had a quick screen through and only real prediction i could find was from pommy, which is above. pretty good i must say, wanderers, roosters luddenham look safely in top 5 (after half way mark) while northbridge arent far away and hurstville have been very good of late

i had friends who play in a few teams in the comp and get mixed opinions to summarise it:

Best Team: Luddenham just in front of roosters
Worst: Gazy
Surprise Packets: Chopin Park
Who will win: Luddenham/Wanderers
Top 5: Luddenham, Wanderers, Roosters, Hakoah, Northbridge
Bottom 3: Gazy, Bathurst, Nepean
New teams: Chopin Park and Northbridge have been more than competitive for their first season

I personally think Luddenham will win it, they are starting to be consistant and everyone else is beating each other/taking points from rivals

Gazy to finish bottom

Season so far…
Best Team: No one really stands out – leader conceded plenty of goals, Roosters lack discipline, Wanderers aren't as technically strong…
Worst Team: Definitely Nepean – cocky coach, average players...
Surprise Packet: Chopin Park – only two loses, best defence
Who will win: ??? Team that will stay focused and consistent...
Top 5: Luddenham, Wanderers, Roosters, Chopin Park, Hakoah
Bottom 3: Nepean, Gazy, Belmore
New teams: Northbridge and Chopin Park are playing very modern and exciting football, unlike Springwood or Hurstville. Nepean – look above

Interesting Kedar.. i agree with nepean comments regarding average players.
as for modern and exciting football i dont agree with that comment, chopin park sit very deep in defense and like to defend leads.. good luck to them its working. against us on the weekend we have a few tricks up our sleeve to hopefully put them off tehre game. northbridge on the other hand, well they just try and score as many goals as possible as they have a very suspect defense.. they play very attacking football

Interesting comment about Northbridge pommy. One little problem - football is a game of balance between ability to attack and defend. To score 26 goals in 12 is quite good, but to concede 25 goals in 12 is tragic!!! Nevertheless they try to entertain. Chopin Park? I've read somewhere that in 13 games so far, only once opponents scored first; and match reports are full of accounts of missed chances by them. Time will tell if their performances so far are accidental... Springwood are having tricks up their sleeves? Don't take it personally, but what will it be??? They'll kick the ball further and chase harder? I've watched that team play this year couple of times and can't see any passing game in their tactical approach. Maybe 2nd round will prove me wrong...

fair enough.. northbridge have impressed me though considering they are only new to this level. same goes for the chopin park team, new to state league and have done really well.
each to there own with regarding to our style of play, that is your opinion.. but what i can say is that we have been together for the past 3 years and i feel that all the boys know each others game really well. yeah we like to play the long ball but thats because we have 2 quick, tall strikers who work really well togther.. as for the tricks up our sleeves, well we just need to work a lot harder than they do, as mentioned before they just grind out results..

Kedar i dont really understand how you can say that no one really stands out due to Luddenham conceeding plenty of goals? for a team to score 33 goals in 12 games including 4-1 wins over Wanderers and Chopin park, win 9 of their 12 games, be 4 points clear with a game in hand and you say that no one has stood out? couple the fact that just 3 and a bit years ago Luddenham were conceeding 100+ goals a year and averaged 4 points a season it think its a remarkable effort!

However on the Sprigwood topic i do agree with you. At times it really is a disgrace the way they play. If i was playing in the midfield for them id pack my bags and leave cos the only time you would touch the ball is when you tackle someone before you boot it up the park.

You see Loyalist, as a neutral person (you seem to be attached to Luddenham one way or the other), I tend to analyze facts rather than emotions. And facts are:
1. Hurstville beat them... 6:3
2. We all (???) know what was said between coach and injured player during first game v Nepean...
3. Hakoah beat them... 6:1
4. Struggled v Roosters (loss), Hawkesbury, Prospect
5. It was 4:2 v Chopin P.
I don't mind the club, coach, players or their style of play. But we need to be honest here and say that they're not dominating this competition. Once again - time will only tell. They play against Northbridge next round...

Fair enough, everyone is entitled to their opinion after all it is a forum.
point 2. I would love to know what was said between coach and player. I assume your talking about the situation where the player dislocated his shoulder and was taken away in a ambulence?
3. Hakoah were unbelieveble that night and if they could play like that every week they would be undefeated.
4. Against Roosters Luddenham had a goal dissallowed that went over the line from a free kick and missed 2 or 3 sitters and probably should have won by 2 or 3. I must say though that the guy in the middle of the park for Roosters number 13 or 15 is a fantastic player and is real class.
5. yes you are correct :-#

I also believe that Northbridge are a very very good side and also play a great style of play and should be commended for it.

Well said Loyalist!!!
Now - it seems that most of midweek catch up/Waratah Cup games will not go ahead.
I personally don't like trying to predict, but in Round 14 I think that:
Gazy will break their loosing streak and beat hopeless Nepean,
Northbridge will convincingly defeat leaders Luddenham,
Bathurst will turn it around and bounce back with a good win against Wanderers.
Other games, in my opinion, are too close to call...
It will be very interesting to see Springwood's "new approach"...
Good luck to all players!!!

Convincingly, because I rate Northbridge higher than Luddenham. Their coaching stuff is of a better standard, same applies to players. Tactically more mature, their strikers pose more danger than most of other teams. But it doesn't change my opinion that both teams' defenders are among the worst in this comp. 25 goals conceded!!!

Roosters???
My dear Loyalist - I can assure you that there is no connection in any form or shape between me and that bunch of bullies, arrogant, ill disciplined "players". Typical Arabic club...

Haha kedar I know exactly who you are my friend. Maybe you should change your name on here? Good luck with the season mate all the best but for now sit back and enjoy the year, you never know you might even learn something. I must say though you really shouldn't be angry about the result against Luddenham because im sure that you know deep down you were totally outclassed just the same as we were against hakoah. Can't wait to play you again cos we are more worried about gazy than you guys.

State League Two Round 14 Preview
02.06.11 08:38

Round 14 of the 2011 NSW Division Two state league season kicks off when Gazy Lansvale match-up against Nepean FC in a bottom-of-the-table clash at Cook Park, St Marys on Saturday afternoon (3pm). Gazy broke a 10-game losing streak with a 0-0 draw at Springwood last week and will take some renewed confidence into this weekend’s game.
Nepean have enjoyed steady improvement throughout the season and might feel that they can get up at home for the first time this year, particularly after claiming a 1-1 away draw at Lansvale in the opening round.

Hurstville City and Hawkesbury City meet in an engaging match-up at Bensons Lane Field on Saturday evening (5pm start). Hawkesbury took the wind out of beaten grandfinalists Hurstville 1-0 back in round one and the Minotaurs were slow to recover winning just one of their first six games. But they are on a roll now losing just one of their last five and slowly creeping up the ladder to be six points behind fifth-place Hawkesbury, who enjoyed a solid start to the year despite not cracking a victory at home (three draws, two losses).

League leaders Luddenham United take on a busy Northbridge FC at Valentine Sports Park on Saturday night (7pm). Northbridge play their rescheduled Waratah Cup game against Super League side Blacktown Spartans at Francis Park on Tuesday night (7.30pm kick-off) before meeting juggernauts Luddenham at home. Northbridge continue their excellent start to State League and boast a solid home record, but they face a United side going about its business having racked up five road wins from seven outings. Luddenham dominated in a 2-0 victory over Northbridge in round one but might find the going a little tougher this time around.

Springwood United host third-placed Chopin Park Rams under lights at Summerhayes Park on Saturday night (7pm kick-off). The Rams have impressed in their State League return to deserve their lofty status, and were it not for a league-high six draws they might have even been placed a little bit higher. In fact Chopin Park (with Hawkesbury) have endured one less defeat than frontrunners Luddenham and kicked off their campaign with a 1-1 draw with Springwood in the first round. But this is the mountain top and Springwood coach Errol Warwick-Day will have his troops revved up following last week’s shock 0-0 draw with cellar-dwellers Gazy.

Belmore Hercules face-up to second-placed Roosters in a big game at Blick Oval on Sunday afternoon (3pm kick-off). Belmore replaced their coach this week, with former Wanderers mentor Walter Alvarez returning to division two to guide a Hercules side desperate to gain something from their 2011 season. They have now gone 11 games without a win to sit just above Nepean and Gazy on the ladder. Ironically, the only win they have claimed this year was a 2-1 away win against Roosters in the opening game, but they shouldn’t expect any favours from a team that has scored 34 goals in 13 matches and have lost just once in eight games.

It will be interesting to see how top-five side Fairfield Wanderers go against Bathurst ’75 at Alec Lamberton Field on Sunday afternoon (3pm). The Wanderers wheels wobbled in May with just one win in four matches and they didn’t enjoy a 1-1 draw with strugglers Belmore last week that has left them looking over their shoulders. One area the usually fluent side has struggled in is scoring goals, with just 17 in 13 games. On the other side of the paddock, however, Bathurst have their own woes – one victory in nine outings (and just 16 goals to boast about) to be left languishing towards the rear of the table.

A rejuvenated Hakoah play Prospect United under lights at Hensley Athletic Field on Sunday night (7pm kick-off). Prospect have only beaten last-placed Gazy in their last five rounds of football and will lose their top-five spot if they don’t chalk up a win this weekend. Hakoah’s form has been like a see-saw and they are still yet to string together the same result together in consecutive weeks in 2010. But they have certainly kicked plenty of goals, a league-high 35 in fact, to sit on the top-five precipice, and they have also regained Mark Robertson (back from an overseas coaching course). Interestingly, Hakoah has not beaten Prospect in their last five meetings.

1. I agree, Northbridge has better coaches then Luddenham.
2. Roosters are Turks.

I'm just someone with enough knowledge to have a constructive discussion about this Division. It's unfortunate though that sometimes truth is very hard to swallow...

my opionion is that while they are conceding goals they are still getting wins so, luddenham's method is working as they're top of the league clearly after 1st round so some respect there...... and its not like its only been a handful of games, half season has gone
