Brazil are a bit fiery in the opening encounters.

Robinho opens the scoring for Brazil.
Abysmal defending by the Netherlands there. Robinho latches onto a beautiful through ball through the heart of the Dutch defence to make it 1-0.

That's the early goal this game needed imo. Now the Dutch will be forced to come out and attack and we could be in for an epic here.

So Brazil lead 1-0 at half time. Very entertaining first half with Brazil looking very good and the Dutch defending fairly well after that early mistake.
That Maicon shot at the end was eerily reminiscent of the goal in 1970 that Carlos Alberto scored after having the ball layed off from the edge of the D by Pele.

Sneijder makes it 2-1. Nice flick on from Kuyt, and a neat header to finish. Brazil have looked all over the shop since half time.

SNEIJDER MAKES IT 2-1!!!!1
And that's what zonal marking gets you. What the fuck kind of defending is that. Gilberto Silva and Felipe Melo standing 2 yards away and Sneijder has a free header inside the 6 yard box.
Brazil look in big big trOuble now. After having their defense talked up so much it has fallen apart in this second half.

Are the Netherlands favorites if they win this. I'd say they are.

No. Germany or Argentina would still be favourites for me.

I'd call the Netherlands favourites just because they have the more favourable side of the draw. Argentina and Germany still have to get past Spain just to make it to the final.
I'm tipping a Ntherlands Spain Final just like I did at the start of the tournament.

Either way, Netherlands would have to play either Germany, Argie or Spain in the final. I wouldn't fancy them against any of those. That said, I wouldn't have fancied them for this game either. :P Brazil capitulated after halftime. Only really have themselves to blame. Holland looked dead and buried until Sneijder scored.

WOW  did not expect that at half time!
Before the game the Dutch were paying $8.00 to win the cup and I thought maybe I should stick a sly $50 on it, but it was Brazil so no chance!
Holland are seriously in with a big chance, not playing Ducth football but maybe thats what they need?

Great diving! Football is in dire straits if someone is touched they will hit the deck. It is starting to resemble a foul a minute like basketball. Give me the EPL or the A-league, the refs stuff up but 90 percent of time are invisible. In a World Cup game they decide who wins.

MichaelB wrote:Great diving! By who? Brazil looked the divers to me except for one Dutch instance. Suck sh*t Brazil you cocky hot tempered fools. Being half Dutch I was getting into the Dutch beer and hoping for my second team to pull it off :D Brazil were completely lost when they found that they were both out-paced and out-skilled in the general passing and possession game. If it weren't for total stuff ups it actually would've been 2-0 to Holland IMO, maybe even 3-0. Both of the first two were "gimmies", the Brazilians didn't miss any easy ones but Holland missed a stack!

Sulley Muntari makes it 1-0 to Ghana on the stroke of half time. A speculative shot from 45 yards out sees Muslera unsighted and caught out by the bend in the ball.
Ghana take a deserved lead imo they were good value and dominated for a lot of that half. Uruguay started well but dropped off a bit.
Will be interesting to see how Uruguay react in the second half.
