Saw Godzilla today. It was pretty good. Not great though. The Humans to Monster Fight ratio was far too high in favour of humans. If you're making a movie called 'Godzilla' and the major fight between Godzilla and the Enemy Monsters is actually background vision to what your human characters are doing, you've failed as a movie director.
That said, the human characters are fairly likable, the story is pretty well written, and the scenes where the monsters and godzilla are the main focus, were fucking amazing. In fact the entire movie, visually, is awesome, very well shot. Just needed more Godzilla

If this was the 'Introduction to Godzilla' and they pump out 5 or 6 more which are just 2 hours of Godzilla punching things repeatedly, then by all means, fantastic  Edited by Funky Munky: 15/5/2014 06:01:21 PM

Having just seen the movie 100% all of this. Less exposition more smashy. If there was an Oscar for staring blankly into the distance, Ken Watanabe would be a lock. That being said, the scenes with the monsters and just Godzilla himself in general are fucking incredible. Edited by sydneycroatia58: 17/5/2014 04:27:36 PM

Saw Chef on the weekend, it's great, a simple tale about how a father connects with his son and finds happiness within himself. I love Jon Favreau as a writer director ever since Swingers. the best part of the movie though was the lack of the Cliché Hollywood plot points and just told a simple story where things led to happy outcome
The Soundtrack is brilliant with a Cuban roll to it and great covers of classic songs too.
Robert Downey Jnr was great in a minor role as well as Dustin Hoffman.

Finally got around to seeing The Secret Life of Walter Mitty last night. Thought it started kinda slow, thought at times particuarly before he made his first journey that they were trying a bit too hard to put the comedy in, but pretty much once he got going I thought it was absolutely brilliant. The movie definately makes you want to drop everything you're doing and just hop on a random plane somewhere  also it made me miss my trip to Peru even more - a lot of the scenary in the places he went to reminded me heaps of Peru & New Zealand.
Also have got tickets to the late showing of Godzilla (2D) tonight. So keen!

Oh my days I loved Godzilla!!
The main criticism I've heard about it was that there wasn't enough Godzilla in it, and also that there needed to be more monster fighting. The start seemed sorta slow, but honestly I was happy with the amount of Godzilla we got to see. And I thought there was plenty of fighting! The mechanics of Godzilla in particular, being so slow because he was so fxxxing massive, meant that any lengthy fight scene would have dragged out solely due to the speed of it. I was blown away that the main actor was the guy from Kickass - the Mrs called it the very first frame she saw him, and it took me a few scenes to agree it was him  I was so, so happy with that movie.
The trailer for Interstellar (was that what it was called?) looked sick. Also I saw a movie poster for Jersey Boys, and I'm deadset creaming myself to see it! I loved the musical, and hopefully the movie will be just as good!

That scene in the credits was glorious too =p~ Watching people struggle with the idea that X1, X2 and X3 don't exist anymore so to speak has been quite enjoyable  As for Charles, in X3 he mentions that he can throw his consciousness into another person, which is shown in the post credits scene with him talking to Moira in what is, according to Brett Ratner, his identical brothers body. It's good that the X-Men films are getting progressively better.
I wish Marvel Studios could find a way to get the Spider-Man licence back - would love an Avengers Vs X-Men film, especially now that they righted all the wrongs of the previous X-Men films. They are all, conceivably, now in the same universe.

Watched Edge of Tomorrow last night. Went in with reasonably low expectations and was blown away. I hate Tom Cruise but fuck me, he makes good movies. A good war/action movie with a really intriguing plot. Lots of CGI & action, but really interesting story.
Highly recommend.
