According to the users of imdb, Pacific Rim is better than Superman...
Might have to watch it this weekend.

Have had a fair few mates see Pacific Rim and they've all said the same thing - it's worth watching once, but wouldn't watch again, and "it made no fxxxing sense why they didn't get the swords out earlier", whatever that means.

One thing I will say about Pacific Rim is, less human relationship crap and more boat bat.
EDIT: One other thing, all this movie has done is increase my already immense man crush for Idris Elba. Could not stop laughing when I read that Tom Cruise was considered for his role

Your friends have obviously never watched old school giant robot/mecha cartoons from the 70s and 80s where the fight between the giant mech vs the monster went for half the episode and only when the good guys pulled out the BLAZING SWORD did they win. Even as a kid I always wondered why they didn't pull out the sword straight away. But that's the way it is, and thats what Del Toro paid homage to in Pacific Rim. The entire movie is a love letter to old school mecha and monster movies/shows. And that is why it is awesome.

Why the hell is there a Bruce Springstein movie coming out?!?! Who gives a flying feckkkkkkkkk!
I was not born in the USA and I feel sorry for those who were... Now that we've dealt with the one Springstein song I know, I can happily sit and watch that flop faster than Shrek 7.

i saw cabin in the woods it was recommended to me.
lol talk about a good time, turn your brain off for this one. extremely hilarious and has some good scares in it as well. the less you know about this movie the better. I don't watch a lot of Joss Wheedon movies but the comedic timing in this movie was brilliant.

Caught The Lone Ranger the other night. Johnny Depp was at his absolute best once again. That man is the actor of our generation.

There is a few that come instantly to mind, but no clear winner out of the bunch. Who would be everyone's top 5 (10?) actor/resses of our generation? Has this been polled before?

He has been in the biggest movies of my time, titanic, inception, the beach, romeo and juilet, blood diamonds, gangs of new york, basketball diaries, whats eating gilbert grape etc etc He's been in some fantastic movies but I don't think he's as good an actor as Depp. Depp really takes over the role and becomes the character but when you watch Di Caprio perform he's still Di Caprio. With regards to PV4, I'd say that there are a clear top 4: - George Clooney - Leonardo Di Caprio - Brad Pitt - Johnny Depp And some others who are still head and shoulders above the rest like Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale and Tom Hanks who have played some sensational and incredibly memorable roles but aren't as consistently mindblowing. That said, I'm a massive fan boy of Johnny Depp. His portrayal of John Dillinger was fantastic, Edward Scissorhands is one of the most iconic characters of all time, the way he became Jack Sparrow and built a complete enigma of a persona (from the style of speech to how he walked and gestured), and of course Raoul Drake in Fear and Loathing. I find it amusing that Hal chose to refer to Di Caprio in Gilbert Grape and ignore Depp playing the title character  Edited by afromanGT: 22/7/2013 11:48:30 AM

I'd have to agree with Afro's top 4 and probably add Bale/Hanks in there because I can't split the two.
Speaking of Hanks, such a shame how many people haven't seen his early comedy stuff and realise just how funny he can be.

Lets just think about 2015 for a 2nd.
Avengers 2 Batman/Superman Star Wars Ep 7 Pirates of the Caribbean 5 Ant-Man
Can also add the Terminator reboot and Independence Day in there as well if you want.
That is ridiculous

TBH I don't think any actor can create a character like Depp does. He truly is gifted. Ledger did it with the Joker, but hasn't (and couldn't) back it up like Depp does.
My top picks would have to be: - Johnny Depp - Robert Downey Jr - Denzel - Helena Bonham Carter (particularly when partnering Depp - sup Tim Burton) - Liam Neeson

RDJ, Depp and Brad Pitt for me.
Love them all.
Is Star Wars 7 really due out in 2015? I'm so keen to see how they re-write the scripts for 7, 8 and 9, because the actors are way too old to fit the scripts that were written years ago.
