Shit ending, soooooo American man does the right thing in the end. blah, blah, blah.
I would have preferred to see him completely annihilated and found dead from drugs and booze than that happy go lucky feel good hit of the summer ending. I just didn't believe it, that that moment, someone who lied and cheated and cut corners all through his life to protect himself, would give up his freedom right then for a dead girl he banged every now and again.
Edited by Rocknerd: 2/8/2013 10:12:53 AM
But it wasn't just that moment, for that one dead girl. The majority of the movie was spent building that moment up. Tuition for his kid who doesn't want to talk to him, new gf leaving him, all that stuff. I thought that whole presentation/review/hearing/whatever was built up to be incredibly tense, and I thought he cracked very well.

How great was his pick-me-up in the hotel room before the hearing
Oh yeah and funniest thing for me was when the plane initially started to nose-dive, the DVD we hired skipped to him in the hospital. The mrs and I both went "no way, there's no way we don't see a crash!". I tried re-winding, which kept skipping, and then was youtubing "crash scene in flight". The mrs was in my ear saying "they did it like that on purpose, they'll show us the crash later in videos and flashbacks". 8 minutes later, we've finished watching the scene on youtube and just went blank. So intense, so hard-hitting! But  that the best part of the movie was the only one the DVD didn't take kindly to.

I get it I just don't believe it.
I work with a lot of Drug and alcohol affected clients and every one of them would sell out their sisters and mothers to keep living their life. The fact that he's portrayed as a high functioning Alcoholic leads more to the fact that he'd (in reality) continue to lie cheat and steel rather than finally confess his faults. It's too mature a move and Alcoholics like Drug uses rarely have a mentality above that of a teenager
Don't worry they're looking at rebooting the whole franchise to bring it back to its original preface from the novel think the awesomeness of the original mixed in with the 3rd one.

The conjuring was a quality scary movie.

I don't usually like scary movies as they are just plain crap. The conjuring however was a really good movie.

Also The wolverine was good and it was nice to have a slightly different approach, it not being completely about mutants. I rated it.

Saw The World's End last night. Was amazing, except the end was just weird and not very funny...

Basically just seemed Pegg and his fat mate watched American Reunion and decided to make a movie where a bunch of blokes have a reunion get wasted... However, i'm guessing they soon realised that a plotline was necessary, so they just gave the exact same plot line as HotFuzz.

Either way, go see it. It produced two of my favourite movie quotes of all time.

The start was a bit slow, but it really got interesting during the second part. There were a few funny scenes during the movie I thought, but it was more of a murder movie than a comedy.
The Rock barbecuing those hands was pretty amusing though.
Watched "Only God Forgives". Was OK, violence was overdone at times, but a good waste of 90 minutes.

Thought I'd check out another Refn movie as a result: Drive. Much better. Can see why people are already calling it a cult classic

Trailer looked decent and was planning on seeing it but was surprised by how bad its ratings and reviews were (6.1/10 on IMDb & 40% on Rotten Tomatoes). Does it have a bad ending or a plotline that really ticks people off or something?

Come on it really wasn't that bad. I mean sure the Roy Schneider addition was unnecessary and the glossed up looking Mega City One didn't give it the Dystrophic World of Dredd that was needed, but it used credible source material, it referenced many of the great points of Dredd and opened up a great comic series to a wider audience.

Personally I'd like to see some Death Judge action and a greater understanding of the use of Cloning in regards to Dredd but you can't have it all.

I like to throw on Stallone's Dredd every now and again to have a laugh and enjoy some light action.

It's like watching the TMNT Films. 1 Awesome, 2 Okay 3 Why are they time travelling? they're not masterpieces but they are great to watch.

Saw 'Now You See Me' yesterday. Really clever film + it has Woody Harrelson, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine in it (which instantly makes it boss), only thing that let it down was the cheesy romance between Mark Ruffalo and Melanie Laurent.

Highly recommend it.
