Samuel L was terrific IMO. How random was Tarantino's cameo lol Haven't seen it yet, but no surprise to see John Jarret! Tarantino is a huge fan of the old 80's Aussie horror and B flicks. He was heavily involved in a documentary on 'ozploitation' that I saw recently. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0996966/?ref_=nm_flmg_slf_65 great watch if you can find it.

Koyaanisqatsi
A film with no dialogue which makes a scathing indictment on Western Industrialisation
Sprung off only 2 films of the like, Baraka (1992) and Samsara (2012)

What is the best(beside foxtel) paid movie streaming service in Australia? My VideoEzy store round the corner closed down and they seem to have there days numbered. I have tried Google Movies but they really need to get their shit together as they have a lot of errors on their Play site. I have Netflix but they dont show new release movies only good for TV Series and classic movies. I haven't seen a new release in over a month and it's killing me!

Edited by leftrightout: 30/11/2013 10:27:34 AM Could always try Quickflix. For 14.99 a month they do unlimited DVD and Blu-Ray rental, but only 1 out at a time, plus streaming online. They also offer just streaming online for $9.99 a month. Edited by sydneycroatia58: 30/11/2013 10:55:22 AM

I have had quickflix before and I cancelled it cos I never got the DVDs I wanted. You would pick a movie and than they would send you all the shit ones on your list before you got something decent. I haven't tried their online streaming though. It depends on if they're up to date with new releases or not.

For new releases, probably the only viable thing is iTunes.

Saw Gravity tonight. It was a great movie and for once the 3D was extremely well done and worked well with the movie. Great cinematography and an all round great movie. Would recommend (but you must see it in 3D)

Like most books converted into movies Ender's Game didn't live up to my high expectations but I guess it never was going to. I always imagined them controlling the battles on huge early 80's game consoles. Wrecked the influence of my favourite character, Bean, and in my mind changed or left out so much that it is nearly impossible to make a sequel that makes sense.
I would have liked them to combine Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow into two movies that ran both storylines at the same time with the first movie ending at the formation or disbandment of the Dragon Army.

On the topic of books turned into movies, saw Spectacular Now today, one of my favourite books and couldn't have been happier with how they translated the book to the screen. Great performances from both Shailene Woodley and Miles Teller in particular who completely owns the movie and the perfect representation of Sutter from the book.

Ok so X-Men: Apocalypse announced for 2016\:d/ \:d/
Also Gal Gadot has been added to the cast of Batman v Superman as Wonder Woman. This movie has gone from being a Man of Steel sequel to the next Batman movie to now what is essentially becoming a Justice League movie.

Has anyone seen Millers Crossing? I checked it out last night and was really impressed, in particular with the acting of Gabriel Byrne. It's an older Coen Brothers prohibition era crime film, that seems to be vastly underrated considering it's all round quality, imo it's one of their finest efforts to date.

I watched the Last Air bender last night and was totally disappointed in it. What was M. Night thinking! Such great source material available and that acting!
Even the Bending which in todays day and age, CGI should have been better than what it was. Whilst the forms were solid, the elements didn't match to the movement.
The fact that it was told like a retelling of a story with all the important emotion and character depth removed, it made me thankful that I own the DVD's of the Anime so that I can watch the great story that is Avatar.
Seriously his worst effort to date. Yes Even worse than the Girl in the Water and Signs and Unbreakable and the Village.

A: Probably i'm not one to go in for all that Oscar bait, deep storyline drama films. The best films I've seen this year are This is the End and World's End. Both were brilliant and I laugh whole heartedly through them both. James Franco: "Your Mum's Vagina was the canvas, your Dad's Dick the brush...Boom! you're the art!"

I was really dissappointed by the World's End. i love Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead, but I found this one to be a bit too repetitive. every bar they went to ended up in a fight, and it felt like the same fight over and over. Still had some hillarious moments in ("In the last 10 minutes, no one has come up with a better name than smashy smashy egg man), but I thought as it went on, it got a bit tiresome. The first 30 minutes were great, but it went downhill after that for me.

Only the geekiest of movie geeks really paid the Coen brothers any attention up until Fergo - all the films before that slipped by as being very cool, but only if you were hip enough to actually go see them. Miller's Crossing was sandwiched between Raising Arizona and Barton Fink, both awesome films in their own right, before my personal favorite Coen movie, Hudsucker Proxy, which is about as perfect and bonkers as cinema gets.
