I love the fact that Packers have beaten all the remaining teams this season :P A game against the bears should be very interesting, on current form we can beat them, but they played well against Seattle.
Jets did really well there, I thought the Patriots were going to steamroll them again but there you go!
Jets v Steelers will be interesting. Santonio Holmes playing against his old team (where he won a 'bowl).

Meh, the Seahawks aren't that good, as their 7-9 record would suggest. Last week was an aberration caused the the combination of a massive home ground advantage and an over confident Saints. The Bears are good, but Cutler tends to fall apart if he's put under pressure. Matthews & Woodson won't be giving him as much time and space as the 'Hawks did. I was thinking about asking for Superbowl Monday off, but I don't want to jinx it.

Yeah, the saints performance was woeful. I find it comforting that the Bears conceded so many points. Wish the bears played at an indoor stadium, we'd be home and safe already :P Packers haven't lost an indoor game all season.
Current Superbowl odds: Green Bay 2.50 Pittsburgh 3.20 New York Jets 4.25 Chicago 5.25

I'm going for Green Bay for the remainder of the season, but I think that Pittsburgh will edge it in against them in the Bowl. I'm not sure, I'll have to tell you what I think after the Conference Championship games.

He hasn't lost an indoor game since the start of last season. He's just SO accurate, when there's no outside influences there's little that can go wrong. Pity Chicago's home ground is open to the elements. Pittsburg have a good side, Roethlisberger is very talented and a constant threat, and Arnaz Battle has been a good pick-up for them this season. But if Sanchez and Holmes continue their form there's going to be little that can stop them. I'm backing a Packers v Jets Superbowl.

afromanGT wrote:I'm backing a Packers v Jets Superbowl. It's the matchup I want to see. Besides I think the Packers match up to the Jets pretty well, while Pittsburgh are big match specialists. But I am getting a little ahead of myself. Packers-Bears will be epic. Here’s hoping things go to plan. The defence puts pressure on Cutler, so that he reverts to form and self-destructs, and the offence holds onto the ball. The Bears love forcing turnovers.

The Packers should put a roof over Lambeau.

We lost to the bears in Chicago in week 3, 20-17. But we were still reeeling from the loss of our first week starters and the team hadn't clicket yet. We weren't in the form we're in now. Our defence was terrible in that game, Cutler threw for half the completions that Rodgers did. When the pressure was on in week 16, Cutler didn't really turn up at all, he only threw 168 yards. I think if Matthews or Woodson can nail Cutler early then he'll drop back more and more and hav a quiet game. Packers' biggest problem is going to be over-confidence after we beat the Falcons so convincingly.

Fairly sure Cowboys Stadium is soley for the football. You'll also find that Arrowhead stadium is as well. Until this season, Lincoln Field was only used for American Football. And that's just three off the top of my head. Jus' Sayin'.

Most modern stadiums are multi purpose. They can't make money just being used on 8 Sundays per year. Part of the Packers revival was the mid 90's makeover that added floorspace for conventions, as well as resturants and the Packers Hall of Fame to try and make it a year round attraction. I think you'll find Cowboys Stadium was also configured to host the college basketball 'Final Four' and IIRC Arrowhead has been used by the Wizards in the MLS. The actual field at Lambeau is too narrow for soccer football or rugby. It is the only stadium conceived and built soley for NFL.

Doing a 2 month road trip of the States, hoping to get to as many graounds as humanly possible, most importantly being LP Field.

Actually, avy, I was going from memory. Packers have played at both those stadiums in pre-season. f1worldchamp wrote:Most modern stadiums are multi purpose. LAmbeau field is the only stadium that was built AT THE TIME for Football as its sole purpose. It gets used for ice-hockey as well. Cowboys stadium is generally not used for basketball because of the work involved in setting it up. The 'final four' won't be hosted there until 2014. I dunno why Sporting Kansas (what is with american teams changing their names?!) played at Arrowhead Stadium, there's a series of stadiums in that complex that they could have played in that are cheaper to run and don't have a capacity of 60,000 odd. Just to satisfy avy I actually googled and the Cards are the only sporting team to play at UoP Stadium. They use it for concerts and dick all else. Since renovation, FedEx Field is soley used by the Redskins.

Man you can be pedantic sometimes. My point was that Lambeau was built with one only one purpose in mind. It's a cathedral of football. Modern stadiums are by necessity multi purpose. So Cowboy stadium wont host the Final Four till 2014, the point is those kind of events are taken into account when planning the stadium. I'm sure UoP Stadium would be capable of it as well. For Lambeau it was football and football only. IIRC, the ice hockey game you mentioned was a one off. You can hardly say it's 'used for hockey as well'. They've had one off other events as well, like snowmobile racing and the odd concert (the last concert was in 1985), but both were stopped because of the effect they had on the playing surface. That's right, stadium owners refusing other events in an effort to keep the surface pristine for the real purpose, football. We could use people like that here.

Nah, the Ice-Hockey games were played there regularly until 06 when the ice cracked mid-match.
The stadium benefits from being owned by the local government and as such running costs are budgeted for and the ground isn't run as a commercial venture or as a third party business and therefore can refuse business as it pleases. It still astounds me that in a leaguea s commercial as the NFL Green Bay have maintained their community ownership.

Aaron Rodgers opens with a 7 play 84 yard opening drive for a touchdown. Incredible start. Some big plays being attempted early by both teams early.

Urlacher has been absolutely epic for Chicago. Unfortuately Cutler is out for the rest of the game, they've switched to their third choice QB now and they're running the ball.
Aaron Rodgers isn't getting any protection in the second half, it's frustrating to watch on that front. GB giving away too many penalties for silly little things but still lead 14-0.

Aaaahhhh Packers up 21-14 with 3mins to go. Bears have put up 14 in the last 1/4. So many chances to put this one away and we're letting 'em back in!
