All we need is pass rush and to get a trade for CJ.

Nicks has joined the colts on a one year deal. Steve Smith has landed in Baltimore. Packers have lost Dietrich Smith to the Bucs. Packers re-sign BJ Raji to a one year 4m deal (he turned down 8m last summer). Tillman has returned to Chicago. As if the Dolphins didn't have enough man management issues Cortland Finnigan has joined them on a 2 year deal. Patriots are stocking up at CB with Brandon Browner as well. This is one of the deepest FA markets in years and the Packers have done absolutely nothing. So disappointing.

Wilfork asks for release, would be perfect for us in our new 3-4 scheme.

Not surprised Talib left, the Pats aren't a big fan of big contracts for players like Talib. Lovely to see him take a shot at us once he arrived in Denver

Someone needs to check the Broncos books, especially with Ware most likely heading there. As for the rest, Saints did well to get Byrd. Also amazed that Verner got paid half as much as Talib and even more that we didnt match it.
I expect Woodley to be in Nashville.

Holy shit Free Agency is hectic this year.
Talib to Broncos on a 6 year 57m deal. TJ Ward to Broncos, details not disclosed yet. (pretty sus on the Broncos salary cap situation right now and apparently they want Ware too!) Byrd to Saints, 6 years 56m. Verner to Bucs, 4 years 26m. Lamarr Houston to Bears 5 years 35m.
Bears release Peppers Steelers release Woodley Jets release Holmes Jonathan Martin traded to Niners for an undisclosed pick.
Packers left with their dicks hanging out in Free Agency once again. We really should be pushing for Woodley and Ware.

That was a pretty shit Super Bowl
The refs killed the game in the first half with their usual Seahawks bias. Epic missed Pass Interference and Intentional Grounding calls which would have given the ball back to Denver with good field position and instead they end in TD drives for Seattle. #-o I can't wait until Sherman, Wilson, Tate and Lynch all go off contract at seasons end and Seattle's salary cap is boned. I can't stand the pricks.
Peyton choking like a cheap whore didn't help Denver either.

Brady missed a wide open Amendola in the end zone twice and overthrew simple pocket passes. He was awful.
The Pats O-line was average as well. Gave up an early hit on Brady and that threw him for the entire first half. There was no protection for the running game and no real protection for Brady. He got hit something like 9 or 10 times.

afromanGT wrote:Broncos do it in style over the Pats. Brady was awful. No, Brady wasn't awful. Brady was ok, but he had no help from the rest of the team. Credit to Denver, they outclassed us in every area. Their pass protection was top notch, ours was average. As a result, Peyton was able to play his usual game and tore us apart. Brady had nowhere near as good protection, and the Denver pass rush really troubled us. Their WR had a field day against our secondary. With Talib out for most of the game, we really struggled. So many big plays given up by the DB. Our running game was pish, it was never going to be easy against the Broncos D though. They, on the other hand, killed us with the run, just like they did in the 1st half of the game in Foxboro. Disappointing to be outplayed like that in the AFC championship game...but if you'd told me 2 weeks into the season that we'd lose Mayo and Wilfork for the season early on, that Gronkowski would suffer another serious injury after coming back into the team, yet we'd still finish in 2nd spot in the AFC, be one game away from the Super Bowl only to be beaten by the best team in the league (who we beat earlier in they year in one of the best comebacks in team history), then i'd be extremely happy with that. Still, 2nd consecutive year Talib has gone down in the first quarter of the AFC championship and missed the rest of the game. We could have used him today.

Broncos do it in style over the Pats. Brady was awful.
Seahawks get literally every call going their way against the Niners and win with a pick in the end zone with 30 seconds left. Richard Sherman decides to remind everyone how much of a massive cunt he is.
So it's a Denver v Seattle 'Bowl. Come on Broncos!

That final play from Colston yesterday was disgusting. All he had to do is step out of bounds and he decides to attempt a lateral switch? #-o I really hope that wasn't a Sean Payton trick play.
Great performance by the Patriots though. They're looking very strong with LeGarrett Blount's run game and a defence that can still make plays even with those injuries.

Quote:The Baltimore Sun Updated at 4:08 am The San Diego Chargers completed the biggest upset of the NFL's wild-card round, but one man in Pennsylvania is determined to challenge their viability in the playoffs. Daniel L. Spuck of Mercer, Pa., has filed a motion against the NFL to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania for "a temporary emergency injunction" on the basis that the Chargers should not have been in the postseason because of a missed call in the Week 17 game between San Diego and Kansas City. The filing came before the first round of the playoffs. Officials in that game failed to call an illegal alignment formation on the Chargers that would have allowed Kansas City kicker Ryan Succop a re-kick of a 41-yard field goal he missed with eight seconds remaining. Had he made the kick, San Diego's loss would have sent the Pittsburgh Steelers to the postseason as the final wild-card team. Instead, San Diego won in overtime and then beat the favored Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. The Chargers face the AFC's top-seeded Denver Broncos this Sunday. In the filing, Spuck suggested some possible remedies for the missed call. The NFL could suspend the playoffs for a week to 10 days, allow Succop to re-kick the field goal, or let the Steelers play the Chargers at a neutral site to determine who plays on. Online court records, which show that the suit was filed via inmate mail from the Pennsylvania corrections department, say the plaintiff has not submitted a filing fee or requested a waiver. http://touch.baltimoresun.com/#section/-1/article/p2p-78820662/

That loss this morning still stings. It was always going to be an up-hill battle when we lost Sam Shields and Mike Neal but to push them all the way and then have Micah Hyde go OVER THE BALL when they kicked the winning Field Goal sucked. Just not our year with injuries and having no real talent at safety.
Andy Dalton must be one of the biggest chokers of all time, to lose at home to a Phil Rivers lead Chargers team. They're 1 from 16 in prime time since he became starter. I don't know if he'll be in a job next season. Michael Vick could lead them to a title.

Dem Packers. Nothing better than making the Bears cry. That Boykin TD  I'd feel bad if it was any other team. Way to welcome back Rodgers and Cobb too - 48 yard TD to win the game. Gorgeous.
Everything else this morning was routine - Cowboys choked, Redskins sucked, Bengals turned up, Saints lit up Bucs...
Browns have fired Chudzinski and Vikes have sacked Fraizer already.
Play-offs looks thus: Saints @ Eagles Niners @ Packers
Lower seed @ Seattle Higher seed @ Panthers
Chiefs @ Colts Chargers @ Bengals
Lower seed @ Denver Higher seed @ Patriots
I'm worried that we've got the Niners. All Falcons had to do was kick one more FG and we'd be hosting Carolina and I'd feel much better.
Should be a delightful choke-off in the Chargers @ Bengals game.
I'm picking week two to be Packers v Seattle and Eagles v Panthers in the NFC (Brees in weather is awful), Bengals v Patriots and Chiefs v Broncos (Rivers to out choke Dalton).

Andy Dalton has to be the least consistent player in the league. Absolutely torched the Vikes this morning.
So glad Philly thrashed the Bears this afternoon and kept the Packers play-off hopes alive. We were shocking this morning. So many little mistakes, the O-line was poor and we're still struggling to make plays in the secondary. Not sure which is the bigger pressing issue in the draft but we might have to make a move in free agency to fix one or the other if we're to make a legitimate Super Bowl tilt next year.
I loved how the Ravens capitulated after being talked up as "the team nobody wants to play" all week.
The Colts showed how to beat the Chiefs, jamming the box and forcing Smith to throw deep. Even though Luck was average they won quite easily.
But the really stunning thing this morning was that Tony Romo didn't choke on the final drive and actually won a game.

Defence optional this week as KC put up 56 points against Oakland (when will teams learn that Ed Ried is playing the same dink and dunk offence he was at Philly?) thanks to 5 TD's from Jamaal Charles, Minnesota put up 48 points over Philly and even Arizona score 37. In fact, only 2 games had below 27 point scored by the winning team. Huge week for offences.
Packers rally from 23 points down at HT to win by 1 over Dallas. It just wouldn't be December without Tony Romo choking and throwing a pick with 1.30 on the clock.

This year was meant to be his last year so he could have one last tilt at a ring. But injuries to the offence and a complete lack of running game put an end to that. I can see Pats trying to buy him out of the contract in order to have one last crack in New England.

We're really gonna miss him, we've been a lot better on offence since he's returned. Wouldn't be surprised to see us go after a TE in the draft or free agency to provide cover for Gronk/play alongside him ala Hernandez. It's certainly not beneath the Pats organisation to try and persuade Tony Gonzalez to walk out on Atlanta in pursuit of a ring. He had his shot at a ring last year, he won't play on next tear.
