I have kept quiet all this time out of respect and loyalty for the club and as agreed with Mr. Gazidis and Mr. Wenger, but since there is so much speculation in the media, I think it is fair for you guys to know what’s really going on at the moment.
As announced earlier this year I had a meeting with the Boss and Mr. Gazidis after the season. This was a meeting about the club’s future strategy and their policy. Financial terms or a contract have not been discussed, since that is not my priority at all.
I personally have had a great season but my goal has been to win trophies with the team and to bring the club back to its glory days. Out of my huge respect for Mr. Wenger, the players and the fans I don’t want to go into any details, but unfortunately in this meeting it has again become clear to me that we in many aspects disagree on the way Arsenal FC should move forward.
I’ve thought long and hard about it, but I have decided not to extend my contract. You guys, the fans, have of course the right to disagree with my view and decision and I will always respect your opinions.
I love the club and the fans, no matter what happens. I have grown up and became a man during my time with Arsenal FC. Everybody at the club and the fans have always supported me over the years and I have always given my all (and more) on and off the pitch. I am very proud of being part of this fantastic club for the last 8 years. As soon as Mr. Gazidis is back from his 2-week holiday in America further meetings will follow and I will update you if and when there are more developments. Don't know about anyone else, but tbph, I'm really failing to see how you can find that 'disrespectful'.

1) When's the last time Arsenal won a trophy? Has RVP won a trophy there? How long has RVP been at Arsenal? 2) He's been there long enough to understand the direction of the club - its transfer policy, the sort of players it tries to capture, etc - and he simply disagrees with this approach. 3) Further - He's said nothing about the signings and is talking about the club's strategy/philosophy, rather than their ability or capability to win trophies.

Robin didn't say a bad word against the club in that statement. He disagrees with the way the club want to move foward. Is that a crime? He's not trying to tell the club how it should be run, he disagrees with them but he doesn't think he's bigger than the club and he's not trying to make them run the club the way he wants. There's no reason to hate him for that, I mean FFS most Arsenal fans agree with the reasons he's put foward for not signing a new contract.
Players like Cesc, RVP, have nothing but respect for the club, have never said a bad word about Arsenal and have left us with such fantastic memories. I don't want those memories to be tarnished, I don't want to re-watch Robins heroics this season with a bitter taste in my mouth especially if there's no real reason to be bitter. Cesc, went on strike to force through his move to Barca, dick move, but he still has nothing but respect for the club so I choose to remember him in a good way. Even Henry, that handball versus Ireland but when he came back this year I fucking loved every second of it.
Then there are players like Nasri, Adebayor. Players that have slagged off the club after they have left. Players that only seem interested in becoming even more disgustingly rich and also players that didn't really give us all that much in the time they were here - Nasri only gave us half a season. These are the players I don't like.

"I want to win trophies, Arsenal are either not good enough or don't want to win trophies" This is what I think too. I am now a disrespectful cunt who hates the Arsenal and should be despised by all who support the club. Let's face it; if you didn't grow up loving Arsenal and was offered over 200,000 pounds a week plus a chance to win big trophies would you turn it down? I'd snatch it with both hands. I'd even think about it as an Arsenal fan. When you're too old to play football you'd pay millions to win trophies; he's getting older, he won't have the chance soon. Don't mention the war, right?

Not a fan of either but I don't really care about the GK keeper so much. Pink and purple, I guess Andre Santos was right.

He probably had a heap of shirts like most young kids. He has been on record saying that Real Madrid was his favourite club growing up.
Nothing in it though.

Nothing in it though. Exactly, loads of kids have loads of different shirts. I thought he supported Feyenoord personally. In fact, I'd be willing to wager that particular Arsenal kit has "Dennis Bergkamp" or "Marc Overmars" on it.

Nothing in it though. He at least had some affinity to Arsenal even if it wasn't his #1 club. Maybe just his favourite EPL club. Ivé heard the Real Madrid thing too. If he stays here another year and leaves on a free I think that would be his first choice if he's able to get regular game time there. For various reasons, not just being a fan as a kid.

Good to see the club keeping faith with Szcesny - don't think you'd be able to sign a keeper with a kit like that

I actually like the away kit tbh, and I fucking love the keeper kit, mostly because of how much Woj complained about the kit a few years ago that had some pink on the sleeves

I wouldn't say he grew up as a fan of the club. The only player we have who can say that they did genuinely grow up as a fan is Carl Jenkinson. Edited by sydneycroatia58: 12/7/2012 01:41:33 PM

Just a few thoughts on the new away kit. The more I see it the more I like it. It's a chance to have ourselves a real iconic kind of kit. The last jersey we had that I can remember having the potential to have that effect was the gold jersey of the early 00's. I also cannot express how happy i am to have hooped socks again. If we could go back to red and white hooped socks on the home kit I would be a very happy man. Here's a picture everyone has been waiting for Steve Bould working with the defence. I like to think the club put this picture up on purpose  Also looks like Kyle Bartley will not be going out on loan again and will be part of the first team this season. Will be good to see how he gets on.

From all reports Bartley will be a solid premier league defender.
More rumors that we're back in for Afellay. Said it before, but he will be a star at a club like us.

Gilles Grimandi wrote:Was the recruitment of Giroud made to compensate for his [Van Persie’s] departure? Yes, we worked to avoid being cornered.
We want him to stay home but he is left with one year on his contract so it is complicated.
At Arsenal, there is a healthy atmosphere, he’s been here for eight years and he has a real commitment to the club.
If there is a great offer and if he wants to leave, it will be difficult to keep him So the answer is yes, Giroud was brought in as a replacement for RVP (even if potentially for the season after next).

This, Giroud was an insurance policy, and I for one am glad the club did it. I mean how long have we been saying that in the summer you need to buy before you sell, and this is exactly what we've done.

The one thing I hope to see more of now that Bould is involved with the first team is a lot more near post flick ons from corners
