Having said that If Montpelier are only willing to sell one of their big stars this year I would prefer we got Belhanda.

Funny how every year we're very heavily linked to every forward in the Ligue 1 winners starting lineup. Gervinho so far is a bad omen for this.

Well done to Ryo who made his debut for Japan overnight. Came on for 30 mins as a 2nd half sub in a 2-0 win against Azerbaijan.

Yeah I agree, I'd prefer to keep Bendtner and sell Chamakh and Park, but think it'll be Park that stays.

Here's an interesting one, how would people feel about us signing Saloman Kalou on a free?

Depends on how much he'd add to the wage bill, but if he's free and with Arshavin now most likely gone it would be nice to add some more depth to that position, especially if we don't keep Yossi either.

Yeah as long as he doesn't have a huge wage I'm happy. The way I see it there isn't a lot of negatives to it. He's only 26, so isn't old, but offers a lot of experience. Proven PL players so no need to adapt to a new league. Can cover anywhere across the frontline. He's always done well when given the chance at Chelsea imo, and is a very solid option for squad depth.

Because a bit of cheap squad depth was needed. We couldn't go into the season with just Robin and Chamakh.

This. With Bendtner out on loan we needed some cheap depth upfront at short notice. We were just lucky that somehow Robin managed to stay fit all season and kept scoring all season, save for a little lean patch towards the end.

So, Wojciech as a replacement for Robin :lol:

Finding it hard to know the truth through all of the BS contradictory reports coming out every day at the moment.

YOur guess is as good as mine really. There were reports the other day that we'd agreed personal terms, but nothing since then. Laurent Blanc has said he will allow players to leave the camp to get deals done quickly, so still a chance for it to be done soon even though he's with France.

These reports about us going for Giroud are picking up pace after it went quiet for a while, also rumours that we're also interested in Kagawa, but can't see that happening.

In the end I'll take all reports with a grain of salt until they're actually confirmed on the official site, refuse to get worked up about any rumours this summer.

Yeah that was supposedly from a club 'source'. One thing I've learnt with Arsenal and transfers, is that the only info you can trust from the club is an official confirmation. Everything else you take with a pinch of salt, especially when it's Wenger talking, do not believe a word that man says when it comes to transfers :lol:

If the Chamakh plus cash deal has truth to it, it would be some fine business. But in my experience player+cash deals always seem to be concocted by the media or just never go through.

Would love Kagawa but I don't think we would pay enough for him given the competition for his signature. Then again ManU his main linkage doesn't make much sense given that he would have to compete with Rooney for his natural position. :-k

Hopefully Capoue is just being used as a bargaining tool for the M'Vila deal. As SydCro alluded to, we all know how sneaky Wenger is in transfer dealings :lol:

Showing that we have other options and that we don't rate M'Vila as a special talent of whom we don't see alternatives to. If they got that message they would try to milk us for every dollar we have available.
And also probably more importantly to make them think we're close to going with an alternative so that they cave in and accept our lower offer.
Agents aren't the only ones who play these sort of games. Not saying that's what is happening here, I just hope it is.

Would Rennes care if we go after someone else? I don't think they'd complain about keeping M'Vila, in fact that's probably why they're pushing the price up in the first place.

Would love it if we went after Afellay tbh. Exeprienced, attacking midfielder who is adept on the wings. Exactly what we need upfront, coupled with M'Vila and we will be challenging for the title next year.

No but M'Vila will. If he wants to come here as is heavily suspected he will be putting pressure on Rennes to make it happen.
They don't want an unhappy player on their hands next year not to mention if he pops out a transfer request his value drops.


And best of all he should be underpriced and therefore a realistic target :D
