So so happy with that. The clean sheet makes me just as happy as the win. The effect Steve Bould has had already is amazing. We have been so organized defensively, just so good to see. That defensive performance today is one of the best I can remember for a while.
As I mentioned, the defence was great. Mertesacker and Vermaelen both played very well, Per was caught out once or twice but made up for that 10 times over. Gibbs, well I love Gibbs  An absolute mad man when going forward, just needs to work on his positioning some more. Jenks had a very nervous first 15-20 mins but after that was excellent, especially defensively, so great in a 1 on 1 situation.
I don't think there can be enough good things said about our midfield today, especially Miki and Diaby. Just wow. Diaby is an absolute monster, and there should not be 1 person questioning if he's good enough anymore. Miki, well if he can keep this level of performance up I don't think we will miss Song at all. I've said it before, I'll say it again, Santi Cazorla what a fucking player. Absolute bargain for what we paid.
Ox was solid, just needs to work on his tracking back a bit more. Podolski was outstanding both going forward and defending. Got through an absolute mountain if work and you can't ask for much more than a goal and an assist.
People will criticise Giroud for not scoring, but boy does he work hard, and the runs he makes and his movement is just outstanding. His run to open space for Cazorla for the opening goal was brilliant. People will bring up his missed chance, but once again his movement and run were outstanding. At least he's getting into the chances to score, I'd be much more worried/disapointed if he wasn't getting into the position to score.

If you want an example of the effect Bould has had on the defence, this is the first time in 88 years we've started a season with 3 clean sheets.

Agreed on all counts Sydcro, we're really solid at the back and it's brilliant, it has to be Bould's influence. Keiran Gibb's position, like you said was shaky, but he's a good left back and I think he can rectify that part of his game. Jenkinson is coming along in leaps and bounds, great game from him even if some of his passes went astray; he's a proper defender, that's his purpose after all. Midfield was brilliant, perhaps we don't need a destroyer like Song when we've got two hard-working, technical, intelligent midfielders like Diaby and Arteta. Great stuff from those two. The new boys were good, we all know how good Poldi and Santi can be and they got the goals to prove it but I think we've a right to be a little frightened about Giroud, he's missed a few good chances tonight and several this season. The goal is the same in France as it is in the UK. Having said that, his positioning and his work ethic like you said has been nothing short of quality. I can imagine once he starts he won't stop scoring. It took Bergy 10 games to get off the mark, lets be patient with Giroud. Great result against the best Liverpool side I've seen in a fairly long time. Entertaining stuff.

Amazing the difference a year makes. This stage of the season last year we went into the international break having just conceded 8 goals against United and our confidence as low as I can ever remember. This year we go into the break on the back of 3 excellent defensive performances and signs of this team coming together better than I can remember for a while. Much more of a team this season than the last few years.

Arsenal have won as many Premier League games in 2012 at Anfield as Liverpool.
Is this true, please say so

FEPL question: Is Jenkinson going to continue starting this season, or is it only because of Sagna's injury he's been playing so much?

skysports wrote:Bacary Sagna has admitted he is yet to talk to the club about a new contract, whilst also admitting that he does not understand why they sold Alex Song.
The 29-year-old full-back, who is nearing a return from injury after suffering a broken leg at the end of last season, has spoken to the French press about Arsenal - and he appears far from impressed.
Sagna has revealed he is worried about what is happening at the Emirates, and admits that he now expects the club to sell players every summer as he has seen this happen throughout his time in north London.
In an interview that is sure to worry many Arsenal fans, Sagna admitted to l'Equipe: "I expected the departure of Robin van Persie. We all expected it. It was 'obvious'.
"But the Alex one, it was a surprise! He is 24 years old, he has three years remaining on his contract. I still do not understand. It is huge loss for the club.
"When you see the two best players of last season leave, you have a lot of questions. Sometimes in the street the fans talk to me. I can understand they are upset. I am just like them, I don't understand everything.
"At Arsenal you come back after holidays, you make preparations, and you see two players leave and the season resumes - it has been like that since I have been at the club. I am used to it now.
"I am the last player from the 2007 starting XI remaining. In May, I watched Manchester City show off. I watched at Samir [Nasri] and Gael [Clichy] lifting the trophy.
"That gave me desire for it. Were they right to leave? Yes. But when they left, we didn't know."
Contract
Sagna then admitted that his own situation is far from certain, revealing his contract is up in 2014 - something Arsenal would never confirm publicly.
"My own situation? At the end of the season, I will have one year remaining," he said, insisting that nobody from the club has been in touch.
"Has the club contacted me about an extension? No, no one."
He even refused to rule out the prospect of leaving, adding: "Could I be tempted to leave? I just want to play again and be good again with Arsenal so far.
"Then, we will see. Each person has his own destiny."
On his fitness situation, Sagna revealed that he is close to playing again.
"One week ago I resumed training with ball. I hoped to be back just after international break, but it will be too close," he said.
"I missed have missed four months twice [in the last year], so I need to be perfectly fit." Edited by jlm8695: 6/9/2012 08:41:39 PM

He was asked a question about Robin and Song leaving and answered it honestly. As for his contract situation  so many people are suddenly panicking about it. Of course him and the club haven't entered negotiations. First there was the whole Robin thing and the Theo thing still going, plus the fact he's only just coming back from his 2nd broken leg in 18 months. The best thing for him right now is to probably just focus on his football and getting back playing, then they can talk contracts. Edited by sydneycroatia58: 6/9/2012 08:51:40 PM
