Exactly what I'm getting at. People go on all the time about how bad we are and how we're not up to top 4 standards but seem to easily forget that our main competition for 4th isn't that much cop either.

A bit naive really, we're 7th with every prospect of dropping further off the mark.

I fail to see how that is a bit naive. Everton and West Brom are going well yeah, but how long can they sustain that? They're both teams we should be expecting to finish above at the end of the season. You can't tell me if our squad were to play to it's full potential we would still be worse off than Everton and West Brom.

As for Tottenham, well I think most saw them as our main competition for fourth at the start of the year but they could do anything really. It's not like their having a blinding season and are basically out of reach of us like they were at the start of last year. As for them settling and forming a decent run, they've won their last two but lost 3 in a row before that, we've gained the same amount of points as them from the last six matches. If you can say Tottenham are forming a decent run then you can say we are too, but I don't hear anyone saying that

The competition for fourth is no better than it was last year and we managed it, in fact we even went one better. Is it really that far-fetched to say that? It's not like I said we're a certainty to finish fourth.

Edited by gooner4life_8: 30/11/2012 07:44:45 AM

How often do we play to our full potential? Once every six weeks against a side with ten men? Who cares what our full potential is when we're so rarely achieving it.

As for Tottenham's current run, I think that comment is also naive. It fails to account for the teams they've been playing against and the performances which have been stronger and stronger this year. Look at us: against QPR we struggled, against Tottenham we only went up a gear when they went a man down, against United we struggled, against Villa we struggled, against Everton we struggled... These games haven't been rare occurrences; we have been totally limp without RVP and that is why we will not achieve fourth at this rate. Our competition are not so stagnant.

As for this idea that "well we did it last time"... How long is that going to last? We were a few Ben Foster cock ups from the Europa League. It is insanely naive to rely on the seasons before, especially last season with RVP, to make the assumption that we'll do fine.

Yeah, I can't disagree with anything you said there, I'm just trying to say that it may not take as much of an effort as some people make out to beat the likes of Tottenham, West Brom and Everton to 4th place. There's 24 games left to make up the 5 point gap from 4th (and 3rd for that matter). If we keep this form up for the next 3-5 games, then I'll be very worried.

 Exactly how much money is Kroenke making out of the fans here?

I didnt mean the money being made out of fans was from player sales.I was talking about ticket prices for games and memberships being the most expensive in the EPL.
How can you justify that when we have the second biggest capacity stadium in the EPL and year after year sell our best players to clubs in our own league.
Its simply a rip off to all Arsenal fans and although you say not a cent goes into Kronke's pocket its still wrong yet Kronke continues to think its the right move by the club unlike Usmanov who seems like a guy who knows what Arsenal FC is and whhat it should be.
The fact us fans are here debating if we can or cant make the top four for the last few years in itself is a disgrace. We should be aiming for top spot.
Dont get me wrong when we moved to the Emirates Stadium the club made it clear we wouldnt be in a position to spend big on players for the next 5 years but after that period we would be in a position where we can spend big and keep our best players. Those 5 years are up and we hhave already sold Fabregas,Nasri,RVP,Clichy to title rivals.
Thats why i dont care or believe that Wenger has a 40 million pound transfer kit like they always say because its been like 7-8 years now we have been the least spending club in the EPL when you take away the money from sold players from the money on players we bought.
Arsenal being the 4th richest club in the world and having that record is pretty tight from the owners no mattter which way you look at it.
In the past while playing at Highbury we still didnt spend big money on player transfers but the difference was that we were able to keep our best players and give them the wages they deserved where as now we simply let them go. I even remember 70 mill being offered for Henry back then and we rejected it while now we accept 24 million for RVP by Manchester United.

Im hoping for this tonight,

Podolski-Giroud-Walcott
---Wilshere-Carzola---
--------Arteta--------
Gibbs-Verm-Mert-Sagna
------Szczesny------

If reports are true Sagna is injured for this game then simple swap with Jenkinson at right back.

Nice cross to Gervinho and he heads it so shit it doesnt even go out and nearly ends up as a throw in. What a disgrace and even more frustrating considering Giroud is fit and on the bench.
Giroud would easily have scored from the two headers Gervinho had or at the very least hit the target,as a matter of fact i would even start Chamackh ahead of Gervinho as a lone striker with Podolski and Walcott on either side.
It must be said though the team as a whole have been pretty shit in the first half especially Gibbs,Gervinho, and Walcott.

Serious questions need to be asked of the whole club to be honest. I will never forget the day Wenger said we wont sell Clichy,Fabregas, and Nasri because if we did we cant consider ourselves a big club if we do. This point for me is enough evidence that Wenger was prepared to lose one big player but not all three but got told from the dickheads upstairs that all three had to go.
How can players have pride for a team they know will develope them into stars and then move them on to their rivals.
All thats left now is to sell Carzola to Spurs at the end of the season.
And yet we are the most expensive team to watch. What a joke!

Disagree with these comments on booing as well; champagne prices, lemonade football of course you're going to be pissed and you've every right to show it. Gooners want change and no board at a football club listens to reasoned debate as witnessed by our recent AGM. Sure we can bang on about "it doesn't help the team" but frankly they're professionals and if they don't play up to scratch they should and will hear it.

English football 101, the fans are more vociferous in their criticism. It isn't just Arsenal supporters.

Spot on. You can boo, whinge, and protest and you will be heard or you can clap your team off the field loss after loss and the owners wont be forced into making a change.
The only thing i dont want to happpen though is Wenger getting the sack as i dont think any other manager in the world could have got us in the top 4 year after year having spent less money on player transfers then pretty much all of the other 19 EPL teams.
I would love to see what Fergie would do with Manchester United if he was forced to sell his best players and only then use half that money to get new players in and the same goes for any other manager in the EPL.
We once were a club that big name superstars dreamed of playing for where as now we are a club that young players with talent dream of moving to in hope of developing and then making their dream move to a big club.
I really cant blame Wenger for this.
Bring in Usmanov!Get Kronke out!

Kronke needs to gtfo . We should never be a selling club . We need to show ambition and that shouldn't be aiming for fourth . We should be always looking to finish on top . Hell man u always believe that they will be champions . I think we need a character who is arsenal to he dies to get the boys going . We need a strong minded person on field and on the managemdnt team to get us out of this rut .
