Even though he got 2 against Soto, feels like Giroud hasn't scored for a long time. Hopefully he bangs on in against City.

He probably would've had one against Everton had he not been fouled by Jagielka right before Özil scored.
Have to say I am a little worried about this weekend, not because I don't think we can beat City, but more to do with them not only having an extra days recovery but it being the early game on Saturday just gives us even less time. Although at least we get a nice 9 or 10 day break between the City and Chelsea games.

So excusing the context of playing after a CL defeat and wanting to get back to winning ways sooner...is beating City this weekend or Chelsea next weekend the bigger match?
For mine I think beating Chelsea is the bigger match because we've never beaten a Chelsea side managed by Mourinho and Chelsea are closer to us in the table.

Theo needs to start tomorrow. No point having one of the best play makers in the world if he has no-one making runs for him. Adds something completely different to our team and will get Giroud more involved.
Also, no Arteta please. Need to play a proper DM and he's being caught out against teams who play a game that focuses on pressing, like city.
Something like this would be preferable imo
Ramsey-Flamini Theo-Ozil-Jack Giroud

Edited by jlm8695: 14/12/2013 04:05:34 AM I also think Theo can be good in big away matches, his presence sometime stops teams playing too much of high line against us. Arsene hinted that he might start I think. Could have used him against Napoli on the counter.

Yeah Arsene hinted that he may start, saying he has looked like he's back to full fitness this week. Also hope to god that Sagna is fit. John Cross claiming he is set to play. Also reports that he's set to sign a new deal :d Based on what i think will happen and what I want to happen I think we'll see this lineup ---Szczesny---
--Sagna--Per--Kos--Nacho--
--Flamini--Ramsey--
--Theo---Özil---Jack--
---Giroud--- Edited by sydneycroatia58: 14/12/2013 10:18:33 AM

On hols, staying near Bondi Rd (Penkivil), where is the best place to see tonights game?
Like the look of that line-up but need Ozil to be 'on' as he's played so many games in 2nd or 3rd gear. He plays a top game and we win.

So it seems my lineup was spot on
Szczesny, Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal, Flamini, Wilshere, Ozil, Giroud, Walcott, Ramsey

In other news we're apparently set to sign 17 year old Barcelona wonderkid Toni Sanabria in the next week or so

Toral,Bellerin and Sanabria are all (probably) going to be worth millions in 5 or so years, and we got them or free from Barca, god I hate those pricks.

Put the result behind us, focus on Chelsea. City are just ridiculous, no point even trying to figure out where it went wrong because they're simply just too good at home. Monreal needs to be dropped though. Confident from what I've seen today that we have enough to beat Chelsea and stay on top.

Clear handball and an onside goal not given which is disappointing, 6-5 sounds a lot better

Surely there was some sort of compensation for all those? How's Toral going? I havent heard anything about him for a while , Wasent he very highly rated at one point?

Not gonna complain about that handball, I'd have been disgusted if we had that given against us.
Not as upset about that game as I should be, feels weird. Obviously shit to concede 6 and not acceptable, but we can take more out of that game than the United game, which imo was a worse performance.

One positive I guess we can take is that we did something no other team has been able to do this season, and that is score 3 goals at the Etihad.
Of course the other big positive being Theo. That finish for the 2nd goal was just delicious. Great to see him back amongst the goals.

A finish Henry would be proud of Another assist for Aaron too. People blasting Ozil's performance, but again got an assist. The shit with the away fans is simply not on though expect better from any player in our club, let alone our best.

Can't deny that fatigue had a huge part to play in that performance. Everton, Napoli away ans City away in the space of 6 days always had the potential to fuck us over, but at least now we've got 9 days to rest and regroup for Chelsea.
