Getting two players in Sanchez and Khedira that their parent clubs are insane to sell. No club is benefitting more from the constant arms race, muscle flexing bullshit that happens between Barcelona and Real Madrid. (Barca sold a top player in Sanchez to sign Suarez, Madrid are going to sell Khedira to fund Kroos) Don't forget that they sold us Özil to partly fund Bale

Apparently Remy is a no go because of wage demands, but Newcastle are going to fork out for him. Any idea what he is asking?

Ok so talk is that Jenks would leave on loan with Manquillo coming in. Which makes a lot more sense. Apparently we're negotiating with Madrid over whether the Manquillo deal should be a loan or permanent. My guess would be the club might hope for loan with an option at the end of the deal. With Debuchy turning 29 this month bringing in Manquillo, along with Jenks could shore up our right side for the next 10 or so years potentially.
Should also say a loan for Jenks makes so much sense. He needs some regular game time.

So apparently our list is
1-Khedira 2-Bender 3-Schneiderlin
And we're in for Ospina.
I want our last resort option
Potentially by next Friday, we could have signed Khedira,Sanchez,Debuchy,Manquillo and Ospina all in one week

Stan Collymore claims he's spoken to an agent who has said we're in 'advanced' talks with Khedira. Sorta can't believe this could actually be happening.
Amazing the difference a few signings can make. Last summer before Özil I would have been really negative about this and expected us to not be able to get it done. But now after Özil and Sanchez who knows
Could also say the same about the possibility of getting Lars Bender.

As good as Khedira is and as good a signing he would be. I can't see Arsenal making him their highest paid player. And it looks like that would have to be the case.

You still need a real DM. Not Khedira. IMO.
All the games against big sides when you got destroyed was because of this.
I rate Khedira very highly though.

Some talk that Serge Gnabry could potentially move on loan to Everton or Southampton. Would be a very good move either way.

Not sure I'm keen on Khedira. As others have said, for a "defensive" mid he spends a lot of time in the oppositions box.
In my ideal starting XI, assuming we sign a DM, Jack doesn't start - which upsets me. But I don't really see much that Khedira does that Jack wouldn't for us. I don't see us playing 4-2-3-1 with Jack and Rambo being the 2 working, and similarly I don't see Khedira and Rambo being the 2 working together.
Khedira to me is a very Alex Song type DM, in that he doesn't do enough defending.

Considering his decade long bromance with Poldi, our previous interest and the fact that Pep seemingly thinks he takes too long to release the ball- I wonder if Schweini is a possible target.

Edited by jlm8695: 14/7/2014 04:40:50 PM  So many people saying the same thing after those pictures of him and Poldi this morning. The more I think about it the more I am on board with getting Khedira in. I don't think it is a big deal if he isn't a 'real' DM. With the pivot we play I don't think it's such a huge deal to have one.

Speaking of Khedira, Sport are claiming that a move for Khedira on a 4 year deal is all set.

The thing with Khedira is that he'll seemingly restrict Rambo going forward but the more I think about it the more happy I am with the signing.
With a DM who sits and Ramsey, it would be quite easy for the opposition to mark Ramsey out of the game going forward, knowing the DM won't push up. With the threat of Khedira and Ramsey both bombing forward at alternative times we would look a lot more dangerous playing from deep.
I've also come to accept that Wenger will never have us play with a proper DM, and I can't think of too many better pivot combinations in world football than one that consists of Khedira-Ramsey.
