Honestly it won't ruin much. There isn't much anger around that I've seen just more amazement at how stupid you could be to say something like that to the media.

As far as him wearing a Sp*rs shirt around the house, I honestly couldn't care about that, it's his house and his life he can wear what he wants, what i do have a problem with is like I said him being stupid enough to come out with it publicly.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO we made a signing.

Quote:
Carl Jenkinson joins Arsenal

Arsenal Football Club is delighted to announce that promising defender Carl Jenkinson, 19, has arrived from League One side Charlton Athletic. His signing was confirmed as young Gunners Benik Afobe, Chuks Aneke and Oguzhan Ozyakup also pledged their futures to the Club.

Jenkinson joins Arsenal having featured nine times for Charlton Athletic’s first team. Predominantly a right-back, the 6’1” youngster can also play in the centre of defence. Although born in England, Jenkinson qualifies to represent both England and Finland through his mother. The defender has already represented both countries at youth level, and last season captained Finland Under-19s.

Afobe, a forward and England Youth International, joined the Club aged just eight and has risen through the ranks to play Under-18 and Reserve team football, signing professional terms in February 2010. The Leyton-born youngster returned from his loan spell at Huddersfield Town a firm favourite with the Terriers’ faithful, having scored eight times in 36 appearances. This helped Lee Clark’s team to a 25 game unbeaten run, culminating in reaching the League One play-off final.

Newham-born midfielder Aneke is another player to have come through the Club’s Hale End Academy, which he joined aged seven, to cement a place in Neil Banfield’s Reserves setup. Last term the England Under-18 International scored six goals in 17 games to help the second string to the runners-up spot in the FA Premier Reserve League South. Chuks signed professional terms in July 2010.

Midfielder Ozyakup has enjoyed a promising start to his fledgling Arsenal career, since arriving from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar two seasons ago. The Netherlands Youth International joined forces with Aneke and Afobe to help Steve Bould’s Under-18s to a Premier Academy League title in 2010 and has proven himself to be a key player in the Reserves, with 22 appearances to his name so far.

Everyone at Arsenal would like to welcome Carl to the Club and look forward to the continued progression of all four players in the years to come.

The only reason him and his agent are asking for $110,000 a week is because he only has 1 year left on his contract, simple as that. If we were re-negotiating and he had 2-3 years left we wouldn't be having this problem because he wouldn't be asking for $110,000 a week and he wouldn't be able to hold us to ransom. So in the end it's partly the clubs fault for not tying this up ages ago.

Yeh but make him earn them, give him a target and reward him for it. A reason I lost respect for Rooney is he held United to ransom and here we see Nasri doing the same thing. I think my usual hatred for this player is compounded by my feeling that he thinks he's bigger than Arsenal.

To #4 Fabregas: The manager needs to remind him about the 2nd half of the season. You're not measured on 19 games you're measured on 38. Players such as Nasri going missing cost you guys a realistic title shot so how can you reward someone for going downhill? Whether or not Nasri thinks he's worth it is unrelated. If Messi had an ego like Samir does he'd be demanding a million a week.

When it comes down to it, these are the normal wages for these guys. So let's just scrap the whole 90,000 per week thing and put it into realistic terms.

It's like working in an office where you get $45,000 per year. You've just had the best year of your life. People have constantly praised you on how well you've done and you've provided a lot of valuable work for your company. With all these people(Agent) telling you how great you are, you're feeling super confident in yourself. Sure you dropped a bit for a while there, but then again, so did everyone else and you as a company underperformed. You genuinely feel like you have proven yourself, you're constantly being told how great you are and that you deserve better(Agent), there are some workers earning closish to what you are who shouldn't even have a place at the company and you are working for a consistently underperforming company. Why shouldn't you be getting paid as much as the top earners?

Having said that though, he's still being a greedy cunt and his manager can fuck off.

I just don't like the arrogance of players who are driven by money. He's on a wage that will set him up for life and still has the nerve to ask for more. Me supporting Spurs and Nasri being an Arsenal player has nothing to do with it.

I'd say sure ok if he had a superb season. He had a patchy season though.

i guess, but with these added funds Wenger will hardly be able to justify not signing because of fianancial security

The next thing we need to do is get ourselves out of the pathetic shirt deal and sponsorship and re-negotiate them.

Wenger had an interview on French radio the other night and had some very interesting things to say. He spoke about this past season, potential signings, Cesc and Nasri, Karim Benzema, changing his philosophy and his plans for the summer.

Wenger on Arsenal's 2010-2011 season:
"I was upset. We though we could win all the trophies, but we failed due to a lack of character. It is the most frustrating season I've had to go through.
"The team played some of the best football I saw at Arsenal, but failed to reach the top when needed. It is frustrating and questionning. We need maturity."

On potential signings, Wenger said:
"We will try to buy players who could gave us what we need. It's a difficult task. Firstly, we have to enforce defensive line. We lost points against teams who play the natural English way of football, with long balls and physical struggle.
"So we need players who know how to manage this kind of game, which means English players, or players who know the Premier League."

About the possible departures of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasir, Wenger said:
"Fabregas will not go this summer. Last summer, Barcelone made offers, but on this one, there is no offers at all. He's the best midfielder in the world, we built the team with him around him. He's our captain, we want to keep him at any cost.
"Regarding Nasri, one thing is absolutely sure, that we will not sell him to Manchester United. We have a financial disagreement with the player, and I will work on it during the summer, to ensure he will extend his contract."

Regarding Arsenal's rumoured interest in Karim Benzema, Wenger said:
"As far as I know, Madrid doesn't want to sell the player, wich is understandable. And the fact that Zidane is now close to the club will reinforce possibility of that Benzema won't move."

On his philosophy for next season, Wenger said:
"Only world class players can reinforce our team, because we already have a world-class quality football. The target is to keep our qualities, strengthen them and get rid of our weaknesses.
"We still have to improve offensively, because we are an offensive team. There are people who ask me to change our way to play, but I think we have to keep going with this style of play."

On his plan to travel to South America on holiday, Wenger said:
"I will spent my holidays there, scouting players and meeting people in South America."
