Ah you got onto this early, I just saw it. He's big and German but slooooow. Still I'm not gonna complain about experience. We're getting signings, Young, Santos, Mertesacker... Just missing that key midfield player. Not sure how all these players will adapt, with a Korean(surely a first for an Arsenal side?), a German and a Brazilian all not used to the premier league...

The amount of people on Twitter complaining about Mertesacker because he's not Gary Cahill really is hilarious.

He is slow. I can see him struggling against the quicker players but with his experience he can position himself well to cover that part of his game. And the last season or 2 haven't been his best but he is a quality player. Maybe a change of scenery can spark him up to his best again. Would prefer Cahill or Jagielka... A defender from the PL. But I won't complain about this.

Honestly I don't have a problem with him not being the quickest CB around as long as his partner isn't slow, and both Vermaelen and Koscielny are not slow so I don't have a problem with it. He's still only 26, experienced international, reads the game very well, excellent tackler, and best of all he's 6 foot fucking 6

With Park a done deal, Andre Santos having a medical and Metersacker in talks you can't say we aint busy.

I've just got a gut feeling that with these fairly modest signings in terms of transfer fee we could be shaping up for a biggie tomorrow. Well it's hope more than anything tbh.

As do I in the hope stakes.

It does more for the club and its players, as well as sending out the message to our rivals that we are ready and willing to fight and spend as much as they. It would be nice to win a bidding war though for Cahill, as apparently Tottenham want his signature.

I think with us looking us like signing Mertesacker there will be no Cahill deal, which I don't have a huge problem with tbh. IN the experience stakes Mertesacker blows Cahill out of the water. Cahill, 25 yrs old, 3 England caps vs Mertesacker, 26 yrs old, 75 Germany caps.

What do you think of the Sneijder rumours SydCro?

World class, creative midfielder. But same reasons as United, take into account wages, he is not the player who is going to lead the team when things get tough. He would have been a luxury signing for United, do you think he would be better for you guys or still more of an expensive luxury?

Honestly, I would do bad bad things to get Sneijder to Arsenal

The big difference is for you he would have been a luxury because you don't have a big need for him, but for us he would be the perfect player to fill the hole that Cesc left.

Would love him, but know it won't happen.

Traore seals move to Queen's Park Rangers

Armand Traore has joined Queen's Park Rangers on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

Traore, 21, made 32 appearances for Arsenal, after joining from Monaco as a youth player in 2006.

His competitive debut came at just 17, against West Bromwich Albion in the Carling Cup. And he went on to feature in all major competitions for the Gunners.

The French left-back had season-long loan spells with Portsmouth in 2008/09 and, last term, with Juventus. He has represented France at Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 level.

Everyone at Arsenal Football Club would like to wish Armand well for his career at Loftus Road.

Not at all sad to see him go. Good luck to him though.

Also Joachim Low has confirmed that Mertesacker left the German national team training camp for talks and is either on his way or already in London. So a chance that could be done in the next few hours, as well as Andre Santos

It's probably the usual in terms of rumours, but in terms of actual business getting done it is the busiest I remember for a while.

Like a said before, in the last 2 days this is what we've done. Park Chu Young - done deal, Andre Santos - fee agreed, in London for medical and personal terms, Mertersacker - Same as Santos. I can't remember the last time we were this busy.

Also the Telegraph reporting that we are back in for Samba.

Excellent.

Loving the Metesacker reports. The beeb is now reporting it, so it must be true!

I'd prefer Gary Cahill, but German footballers do very well in England. It's a similar style of play, a similar tempo, passion and Germans always have excellent mentalities. He will be a real leader for Arsenal.

Yeah the one thing that hasn't been mentioned is the never say die winning mentality he will bring to the club. While he may not have won a lot with Bremen, he's German it just comes natural to them.

Arsenal to sign striker Chu Young Park

Arsenal Football Club can confirm they have agreed to sign striker Chu Young Park from AS Monaco.

The 26-year-old South Korea captain scored 25 times in 91 appearances for the French club during three seasons in Ligue 1.

The one-time Asian Young Footballer of the Year made his debut for the South Korea senior side at just 19, and played in both the 2006 and 2010 World Cups. He replaced the retired Ji Sung Park as captain of the national team earlier this year.

Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger said: “We are delighted to have signed Chu. He will add true quality to our attacking forces and will be a valuable addition to the squad.”

Chu Young Park said: "I am very honoured and I feel very happy to be at Arsenal. It is a dream to be here and I am really proud to be an Arsenal player. Now I just want to show how good I am and prove myself.

"In my opinion this is a great club, now I have to show what I can do on the pitch. I will do my best, I will never give up, I will show heart, I will give everything and I hope [the fans] will support me."

The deal is subject to the completion of formal registration processes.

Chu Young Park will wear the No 9 shirt at Arsenal. The striker prefers to be known as 'Ju' and will therefore have J. Y. Park as his shirt name.
